Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
People prefer higher frame rate ?

YA DON'T SAY
I dont know about that. I'm a big 24fps supporter because the first films made 100 years ago did it. But I changed to being a 30 fps supporter because that's what a lot of console games were gimped to since 3D gaming came about in 1995.People prefer higher frame rate ?

60 fps? What? Did humans evolve that fast in 100 years our eyes can see double the frames? lol
This is the first time I'm seeing such an impressive number of 60FPS games on the consoles.I've said that console games will get 60 to the extent it's a effectively marketable point. The reaction to Arkham knights is kind of a pointer.
Of course, it's a bad looking game lol. (Bad looking, considering.)l Plague tale looks awesome and it's getting less backlash.
So as it stands I'm seeing more 30fps games coming but it's not going to all slide that way. 60 seems to be establishing itself as a marketable point after two years of being the most worthwhile differentiator of the new gen thanks to the lack of next gen only games (in the sense that you have to buy the new system, not that they do anything that would be impossible on previous gen).
On a side note; I don't think enough people are grasping what flipping a switch between 30 and 60 does to your perception. People who thought they couldn't see the difference for years suddenly think 30 is a brain breaking slideshow because they flip back to it and play (not just watch) for ten minutes after playing on 60. After a few hours, the 30 would look and feel like you remember it. It does take a bit to adjust so that the lower fps doesn't seem intrusive. In fact, 60fps can feel off in it's own way when you are all used to playing a game at 30 and suddenly flipping the switch.

I dont mind 30 fps options. Just have a 60 fps mode with the usual lower res or textures which every gamer knows will be the sacrifices. And let them choose. If some studios made games with two or three modes during the PS4 Pro and One X days, they could still make them now. This is what developers need to understand: 60FPS IS THE COMPROMISE.
30fps needs to die, I don't even care what game or genre people say it's fine for, nothing should be lower than 60FPS.
Wait until you one day experience 120+ fpsI don't even see how this is an argument. The first time I played at 60fps, I never wanted to go back
This is the most low-key “PC master race” post I’ve read in ages.i prefer 120fps over 60fps. infact i prefer 165fps over 120fps.
happy to see console owners happy with a higher framerate but 60fps hurts my eyes.
120 over 60 is mild. 240 is where it’s atWait until you one day experience 120+ fps
The choice is ok as long as both modes are the same aside from resolution. I don’t want to be compromising rt or other things.Certainly, having the option to play at 60 with some reduced settings and resolution is always a good thing.
Giving players a choice is definitely better, obviously.
We should always have options. I don’t mind if a game only has 30 or 60 fps in 4K. But I want an option to play in 1080p at 60 or 120 fps in that case.
Framerate IS fidelity. And graphic quality is more than fine at 60fps. No one reasonable has ever had a problem with 60fps graphics. This generation should be 60fps by default forget the fidelity.
I take your point but I think it's worth saying that A Plague Tale just about manages 40 on Xbox Series X (worse elsewhere) at 1440p and I wonder how low people would be prepared to go. Personally, I'd take 60fps over everything, but would that mean 720p at some point? I wonder what the reaction would be to that.We should always have options. I don’t mind if a game only has 30 or 60 fps in 4K. But I want an option to play in 1080p at 60 or 120 fps in that case.
I think the performance mode usually has lower graphical settings to ensure it maintains the 60fps...though don't quote me on that. The choice is ok as long as both modes are the same aside from resolution. I don’t want to be compromising rt or other things.
And I don’t want the choice of mode to feel like choosing the thing I dislike less
People didn't love these games because they were 30fps.Games like tlou2, uc4, bloodborne and many other ps4 and earlier games were 30 and had ground breaking graphics and we all loved it!
I know you are joking but 240fps over 120 do make a difference in modern LCD monitors. At 120fps the dreaded LCD motion blurring is still noticeable. At 240fps it clears up quite a bit though. I play many older games at 240fps and the clarity can only be matched by CRTs.120 over 60 is mild. 240 is where it’s at
we published a poll
Doesn't it get old really fast that everyone that doesnt agree with your opinion are Nazis?Fortunately that poll has as much agency as a Putin's "referendum".
