Was excited until I knew the mandatory phone number requirement... That's uncomfortable as fuck and if it doesn't result in anything wrong, I'm done with companies trying to get too deep in my life... like, the mere fact it happens makes feel bad by sharing the data...

I hope they can revive OW to the state it was in like six months after its first release. Good times, fun game and amazing matches. Left the game after 500 hours due to too many balance changes for 0,1% of the (vocal) player base and esports edgelords, taking the fun out of many characters while leaving trash characters/abilities in the game.

Since it's F2P I'll definitely check this out. I'm not too optimistic though.

Dude if you lose your Blizzard password they ask you to scan your DRIVER'S LICENSE and email it to them, that's uncomfortable as fuck. Blizzard is used to being invasive and comfortable with making you feel uncomfortable.

This screams sarcasm, if not then I feel sorry for you.

Out of all the serious issues affecting your privacy that the government has done you’ve decided to draw the line on this one. 😂

ya 2fa is bad
Mandatory? Yes, it is, it's one of the most annoying UX stuff I can think of... I decided to go without 2FA on Uplay because no matter it never let me login unless I deactivated it... I also lost a phone number once I got robbed and had to go though any service using it to try and change it or just remove by customer service the 2FA, it was a hell, let people decide if they want it. Also even if it wasn't this annoying and if privacy is already just a myth of the past, it's just too uncomfortable that they demand such a personal information to... just play a game? LMAO... I'll pass, feel lucky to never had any issues with 2FA, I'll only use it for very VERY delicate stuff like work and maybe something else not related to my enjoyment (maybe).

It is not sarcasm, it should be optional, not mandatory, reasons above ^^^^

Played the first game for a very long time. Had a blast actually but I really do not have a clue what to expect from OW2. F2P could be a great thing for the player base but it could also be a bad thing for the density of monetization elements. New hero designs seem cool but some of them look a bit worse than the initial concept imo. So before reading lots of bad reviews, I'll just give it a try and see it for myself.

You didn't post any valid reasons. Just idiotic paranoid crap. No one hacks your Uplay account because you're the only person who wants a Uplay account.

His concerns are justified regardless of previous transgressions from others. If this exposes privacy issues to the masses, that's a win in my book.

Not only that, it's annoying of I change my phone number and waaaaaay more insecure if it was because my phone was stolen as it happened to me or in the wrong hands, 2FA is something we should use very carefully if ever

This is going to be awful for people who never played the original... essentially you will be stuck with a very VERY limited selection for roles as a new player... counter picks? What's that? I don't have any other support unlocked except Symmetra... better go Soldier 76...

Reason I play more OW than Paladins lately is the community is generally better. But F2P invites all sorts of trolls, I hope there's a decent system to counter that.

I wonder will the Ps5 version finally get updated to 4k? I've always found it strange that they never patched this on ps4 pro or ps5 to run at 4k (unless I'm wrong and they have by now) whereas the xb1x/sx did get updated.

I being completely honest when I ask this: are any of you actually excited for it? No one I know has any interest in it, most didn't know it was coming at all. Am I just overlooking where the interest is or has Overwatch fallen off the radar that much?

I’m excited to get into a new multiplayer. I’m sure it’ll do insane numbers streaming wise and what not. I think the excitement is low because it’s being rolled out like an update more than a sequel.

Can do you one better. Blizzard won’t accept my phone number, because my carrier (Cricket Wireless) has pre-pay plans. Contacted support, and they…just don’t care enough to let me play their f2p game, which I had been playing for the better part of the past 5 years.

Was originally really interested in this, but the F2P angle and the micro transactions I have seen have put me off entirely. Very few games are able to be F2P and not be completely ruined as a result. Warframe being the only example that I can think of where a game is F2P and doesn't violently shove MTXs down your throat or rip off their customers with overpriced pushed nonsense.

I would they had just charged full price and then provided missions or weeklies/dailies to unlock skins and other cosmetics.

Overwatch was one of the few completely fair with games with unlocks which probably means that isn't profitable considering the direction the sequel is taking.

If they can't be profitable by selling a full priced game like everyone else then that is their problem in my opinion.

Considering they shut the original game down and to continue your Overwatch journey you'll need to go to their F2P monetization scheme, I'd say it's our problem too.

Well yeah, but they will learn pretty quick about that mistake I think after the intial rush dies down.

This is a pretty good video if you have 10 min..This game feels like it will be similar to a Fortnite 2 type of update. Since it's F2P I honestly don't mind it. Sucks this is what we get after 3 years but the development was all over the place so I get it.

I mean, sure my case is annoying enough but knowing of new creative ways 2FA just mess up other people experiences surely makes me feel worse about the thing...

I would think Overwatch was plenty profitable, and the reason for the switch to free to play is that they don't want to make an actual sequel, and not many people would pay even more money for this.

Wait they killed the first one without the second one being fully done?

Is this for real?

I mean that's what live service games are really... unfinished products that you have to convince enough of the players to whale out thousands of pounds each for the privilege of it being updated by them with more stuff to have them whale out on.

I honestly can’t think of anything that number 1’s has that the pvp launch of 2 doesn’t. The only thing not done in 2 is the PVE campaign that OW1 never had. (And yes if you want to be picky you can say 6v6 and two point CP mode and maps)

Pretty much they are letting you play a better looking, feature filled version of OW1 with more characters, maps, and modes for completely free.

It's really not that much of a sequel. It's just a very large patch for OW1. There's plenty of multiplayer games with far greater overhauls than this one without having it numbered as a sequel.

Haha yea that's ridiculous. I lost my Blizzard credentials that had my Diablo 3 game on it. A few years later I create a new account, and ask Blizzard if there's any way they could transfer my game over from my lost account. They asked me to photograph my drivers license and send it to them. Obviously I didn' t do that, and never was able to get my Diablo 3 back. I have the physical PC version :(

This game will fail massively.
I'm calling it.

  • It's free to play meaning it will have a ton of microtransactions. (Diablo Immortal anyone?)
  • The entire roster are rebalanced, and Overwatch 1 is already notoriously known for having terrible balancing. (They recently stated that their balancing is indeed biased.)
This will be a mess.
That is what I am also afraid of the most, but there is a slight chance that my PC won't be able to run the game properly, so maybe the fate will save me from this game.

I dont get the hate, you are just getting extra stuff for no added cost.

Its Free2play with some extra skins. Its not like they are selling game breaking OP perks.

I’ve honestly stopped trying to argue this with people on the net. The people fearing doom and gloom about the battle pass stuff and microtransactions are literally bitching about the Barbie dress up shit. The actual gameplay is what carried the original to the moon and that is there for all to enjoy completely free of charge now.

I played the game for years and had fun with the basic gameplay loop and what kept me coming back was the feeling the game gave me when matches were competitively fun along with new maps and heroes sprinkled in throughout the year, the events, and sometimes the earned cosmetics were a carrot on a stick. Ironically, I stopped playing OW1 when the characters, maps, updates came to a screeching halt and all the cosmetic BS was the only thing they were giving us with event repeats. The new seasons are a literal guarantee that all the aspects I loved will continue for years to come. That is a huge win for me. The promise of a full fledged campaign, that I likely know I will have to fork over some money for, is fine by me.

Not to mention anyone who actually knows Overwatch will realize 6v6 will inevitably be available in Arcade mode within a year. Hell, they might even give it its own Competitive mode, I mean we already have both role pick and free pick modes. So pretty much nothing will be lost in all likelihood.
