I purchased it over the weekend and I can tell you the bugs are fixed, but my god what a boring empty ass game. Refunded it.

So...it sold like 13M in its first 10 days...and 7M during its next 2 years with huge discounts to the point you can buy it for 10 bucks?

Its recently has the 7th all-time peak player count in the history of Steam and is currently the 6th most played title on Steam, only single player game in the top ten. I'd say those metrics + 20 million copies sold is pretty good.
Where was it before the tv show and during its past 2 years?

I am really stoked for it doing good because it will keep other companies looking at that genre and maybe hitting with a good game.
Will be fun to see what others may create in that space.
Lets get that Shadowrun FPS open world game going baby

Honestly this game is amazing these days, first playthrough was on the Series X via backwards compatibility and I clocked up about 45 hours just mainly doing the main quest and odd side jobs. Found when I tried to do random things on the map most were bugged so it just ruined the whole feel of the game. Recently purchased the PS5 version for cheap and it's a TOTALLY different experience, nearly 20 hours in and that's just on side missions mainly, they absolutely turned it around; the game is brilliant. Makes me sad they never dropped last gen for launch but I guess money always wins.

Now we are going to hold marketing campaigns that are successful against games?

Game is likely to crack to the top 50 all-time best selling games list by years end and beyond once the DLC comes out. But if it makes you feel better to try and damper the success which is a pretty weird flex, I guess go ahead.
It's not about any of that. It's about this:
the game had potential to sell so much more
When in 2 years you sell 60% of your game's copies during its first 10 days clearly something didn't work out very well.

The real question is how some people will die on this hill where everything about this game needs to be defended.

Obvious. Though there is an argument to be made that the game should have been at 30 million by now, Cyberpunk was always an amazing game, just buried under A SHIT TON of bugs and bad performance.

Either way, well deserved CD Project Red!

Wow, this fucking guy OP, he’s really got an inferiority complex about liking this game, he will post any fucking number he can find about it. We don’t need a daily thread about this mediocre game.

182 hours since launch here.. The PC version has always been a great game with disappointing elements (f.ex. I expected it to have Rockstar-like world AI and overwhelming attention to detail, but it didn't). I hope it continues its turnaround a la NMS.

You're the one looking like a doofus here, meaning there's a simple solution to your frustrations: No one is holding a gun to your head, so just stop reading and posting about it. It's not like threads have a title or anything to warn you to not stumble inside..

I joined about a year before you did and have about 1/5th of the posts you have. Of those, maybe 7-8 have been about Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe 9 counting this one. I think I'm good.

That said, we will see where the sales end up when its at the end of its lifecycle. The game and rightly so has been very successful despite an inordinate amount of people that seemingly wanted it to fail.

Well deserved. Game was always fantastic. I hope that number hits 30 after the modding scene really takes off and the xpac is out.

ha. ha.

the best cyberpunk game we had before this was Deus Ex and that was fucking trash. Hate on Cyberpunk all you like but for fans of the cyberpunk genre it's a great game. We need more cyberpunk games. Not just the genre but "Cyberpunk" series.
I fucking love Cyberpunk to death, but calling Deus Ex, arguably the greatest cyberpunk franchise ever made, trash?

The three Shadowrun CRPG's are awesome, so that's something.

It still pisses me off that they had the nerve to show off how much choice-and-consequence there was in the game by showing us the one and only mission in the game that has any real branching choices at all (acquiring the drone for the heist) and acting as if the full game would be full of it.

Still enjoyed it though. I mean it's open world Deus Ex lite, it's fun.

Twitter is not reacting too well about 20m sales...

Lol at there being no repercussions.

CDPR was almost backlisted to the point of Hello Games. And it took major work on their part to change the narrative.

Really surprising comeback and thats mostly thanks to the Anime.
I thought this sort of comeback may be possible only after the expansion.

I have not gone back to it since patch 1.3, i dont think my verdict will change, gave it 3/5 (decent game) at release and based on the changes i dont see my stance changing, bugs were never part of my equation, and no i dont care about Muh police chases and muh minigames, although they would be a nice bonus.
I will come back to the game for the Expansion, will do a quick replay 1 week before its release.

Still have my PS4 copy sealed from day 1 purchase lol.

Fuck me.

I have a PS5 and want to play it. But I almost never play games twice. So I'm still waiting till it's at it's absolute best.

Good to see it's doing well.

Day 1 buyer here.

I always thought it was a great game. It may be clouded by my anecdotal relatively bug free experience but I think that’s worth pointing out.

Always loved the game so it's good news, one of my favorite in the last years if not my favorite, but besides bug fixing i don't think the updates have been incredible honestly, that's the least i can say. The extension will be one of my most anticipated release.

I just started playing today. Owned since launch but today was finally the day the wrapping came off. Seems fun so far. I like the setting and style very much.

I'm completely spoiler free. Beyond having the fact that the game was an absolute mess posted everywhere on here and YouTube.

It’s kinda hilarious to see games like Cyberpunk and TLOU 2 do so well. All those youtube outrage channels are in shambles.

Not for full price. It's a shooter with some sort of story.

Ah yea, you pick things up and there's an inventory and you can level up, but all of that doesn't really matter, just shoot them. Guns go PRRRROW!
spoken like an FPS fan who played through the game once, at best...

I tried playing it on last gen hardware when Best Buy had the $10 blowout sale and it was not a great experience. After the last patch I started a new playthrough on current gen. I'm liking it now. It's still not what they promised but it's ok now.

Why would you need to play the game more than once? You can get all endings in the same play through. Ultimately, the choices you make don't really matter.
Maybe one wasn't able to get all prerequisites to unlock all endings or, possibly the best reason, different builds/playstyles.

The spike in recognition, popularity, and sales is kinda crazy when you consider that it's still getting it's big expansion next year. This baby's got legs and it's looking like history will be kind to Cyberpunk 2077. This is good because the Cyberpunk genre, and this property in particular, is just too damn interesting and rich to let it burn. If it means more Cyberpunk in the future, then I'm all for it.

There will always be people who will hate on the game or never give it a chance, but fuck em.

The Order didn't sell well, I never bought it on released and never said the game is great. What is ironic about it? The fact I like it's character design?

What is ironic is that just like The order what cyberpunk has going on for it is the setting and the visuals.
