God of War Ragnarök | New Trailer - State of Play | PS4, PS5

They should think about doing one of these games with the Greek gods. Kraits could face Ares and Zeus and Poseidon or something.
Like in the pre GOW2018 games?

I’m kinda over Kratos as a character to be honest but this game looks absolutely phenomenal here, I’m considering jumping in day 1 again, they hit it out the park here!

I noticed you can use rocks, and maybe other objects, in the environment to throw at enemies - I believe this is a first for the series.

A God of War 3 redone like this is what I need right now.
Let’s get GoW 2 out before Sony tries to remake an unreleased game. But given their current track record I wouldn’t not be surprised if TLOU3 was first released as TLOU3 remake.

It's already done!

No I would know, given my advanced age, but a GoW set in the ancient Grecian cities fighting Greek mythology like harpies or cyclops could really get some traction in these times. I would maybe propose that Kratos be trying to avenge the death of a family member and working to get to Olympus.

Looks great! Can't wait for this game to be released. But at the same time can't help thinking: imagine if this was PS5 only...

Report me if I continue to console war
Looks alarmingly generic.
I wish the hypebole on both sides would settle down, its like it's some kind of competition.

This was a great trailer, but it does not tell us much about the actual game so comments like these below are a bit much, as is the "alarmingly generic" quote above.

Chills watching that. Holy shit.

This is why I own PS5.

One of the best ever trailers I have seen in my life , man sony santa monica beat all sony studio's in the graphics , gameplay and story

"but it's dlc" right?

This was one of the best trailers i've seen in years.

I was already Day 1, now i just don't how i can wait for that day one.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
The ONLY thing I will critique is the fur on the wolf looks very last gen-y.

Still easily GOTY though, Santa Monica don't miss.

This game being cross-gen makes sense to me now. Keeping it similar without a massive jump in technology works well for the cohesion and wrapping up of the second and final part of the Norse series.

They can go all out with brand new looks and taking advantage of the PS5 when the mythology changes.

This is absolutely going to push PS4 to its limits.

They don't need a million trailers when the brand is this strong. That's the last any core gamer needs to see to be convinced. It's all CG commercials on NFL, and digital media buys from here til launch, and it's going to print.

Can't wait!

What game has juggling based on physics? That would be broken as fuck
Lots of games use a combination of canned animations and physics for combat, no? In any case, why do enemies still float in the air and slowly rotate after being launched? Surely they could have come up with something more satisfying than that. It looked dumb as hell in GoW 2018 and it stands out even more here. The combat feels like it should be vicious and impactful based on Kratos' animations, but the way the enemies react to impact outside of finishers/specials doesn't cut it for me.

I’m 46 and excited like teenager!
Hype train is up and running now!
I’ll be 44 when this one comes out, right there with you! My wife is gonna be mad at me again. GOW is the only game she has gotten mad at me for playing cause I was full on obsessed😂 Still need to beat final Valkyrie to get my plat, should probably do that before this comes out!

Because it's still an action game at heart and floating enemies in that way is a sort of signal that the combo can be continued.

If you add physics in then you add in unpredictability. Games with physics based combat have never worked well. That's why you rarely see it any more, I can't think of any. If physics are added it's usually to a death animation or ragdolls on bodies.
