The Last of Us Part I - PS5 - Coming September 2 (PC version in development)

I think ND would've benefited from showing gameplay with the trailer or in place of a trailer. Without the gameplay, people are just going to pick apart what they don't like. The gameplay is really where itll be make or break for this.
Yeah I was thinking that. They already said improved AI,the animation system from 2 and the gore. People who don't know any better are seeing the cutscene comparisions and thinking its a minor improvement.

It's more the faces looking more realistic as the ND engine has developed over the years, just like Aloy in Forbidden West compared to Zero dawn
Hum might be. Not an expert on that. If that's the case, it reinforces my opinion that realistic graphics is definitely not what I want for video games.

I prefer Ellie’s and Joel’s faces in the cutscenes in the original 2 versions. I like how they look almost drawing-esque.

Yeah, I really prefer how Naughty Dog games actually had an artstyle on PS3. Their games look REALLY good on PS4 onward, but I still prefer how unique Drake looked from Uncharted 1 to 3 than how unremarkable he looked on 4.

I mean, eventually they will run out of their AAA western games and start looking at the Japanese ones. What's left to port? Ghost of Tsushima? Infamous second son? Uncharted Nathan Drake collection?

Bluepoint won't stay idle after the spiderman games are released in a few months.

I get what Swift_Star Swift_Star is saying. The fact that people go either #Joeldidnothingwrong and #Joelhaditcoming is proof to the great writing of his character.

I really think, however that people need to differentiate understandable from inexcusable. At the end of the day, Joel sacrifices humanity to save the person that gives meaning to his life, in a world he hardly cares for, anymore.

But once Joel and Ellie die, humanity is still stuck in a postapolyptic hell which will probably annihilate it.

On a personal, egotistical level, Joel did nothing wrong.

On a humanitarian, social, evolutionary level, Joel is the fucking AntiChrist.
You'd have to be very charitable towards the Fireflies for that take IMO.

We've seen nothing that they would've been able to create a vaccine in sufficient quantities and had the means for proper distribution. We have seen them act like thugs and not honor agreements. They were the ones who escalated the situation and forced Joel's hand when they were gonna strand him in an infested Salt Lake City without his gear.

Agreed.

The remake looks nice but this particular shot shocks me. The original is way better. A complete different atmosphere. And now I can't unsee the face change on Ellie. I don't get why change faces of characters.
Edit : could this be a right issue ? Original actress doesn't want her face to be used anymore ?
I wouldn’t be worried. Looking at the video the new models are super expressive. That one frame depicts nothing and the expression can alter on a dime.

You would probably like to know you completely failed the TLoU experience, along with many other psychopaths incapable of feeling empathy.
The entire point of the game, the only one, was to make you develop such a strong and visceral bond to these digital characters that by the end of the game you would feel not only just okay, but actually compelled to say fuck humanity, the same humanity which deprived Joel of his daughter, and shown as literal monsters worse than the infected for the entire experience, just to save Ellie, the only good thing in a such rotten world.

I would legit never trust a person like you, and i mean it.

P.S. Believe it or not, Druckmann himself is Joel nº 1 fan, as the character is a literal transposition of his persona into videogame form, a sort of gift for his daughter just like the entire game is. And Druckmann himself revealed how every single time he played the game he brutally slaughtered every single doctor by the end of the game.
Good for you I guess?
Joel sucks.
I usually like your posts but this is a trash take. Joel did nothing wrong in Part 1. He acted like any normal human would act in that situation to save Ellie.

The fireflies were terrorists and sadistic.

I know they will rewrite his character and that ending so it fits better with the flashbacks in Part 2 but he was fine in the original ending.

Why would you even sympathize with a random NPC doctor that you only see once after playing 20 hours as Joel and Ellie? You guys are weird.

Come On Joel GIF by Naughty Dog
I don’t like what he did at all. He was selfish and took away From Ellie what she thought was her mission. It’s the reason why she was so angry in the second game.
I understand why he did it but it doesn’t make it right any better.

So no upgrade path for folks that already own the original game (ps3) and the remaster (ps4)?

No, you were asking question regarding the need for a game based on your own personal purchase history. Why my answer triggered you......no idea.
Nah, some random person on the internet could never “trigger” me, lmao. You give yourself way too much credit pal. My purchase history has zero to do with this. If a “new” gamer wants to play TLoU 1, they can easily play the remastered version on ps5. I just think Naughty Dog could be using their resources better than pumping out regurgitated stuff for a third time. You take care buddy.

Free or upgrade paths make sense when it's a port or a remaster whatever you wanna call it. If the game is rebuilt from the ground up with new assets I think it makes sense to just sell it like a new game.
I mean i don't think it should be free but i also don't think it should be full price if i bought the same game through PlayStation Store. I feel like it should be discounted at least 50% for the players that bought PS3 and PS4 version in the Play Station store. Just a thought.

"No shit capt. obvious" sounds particularly triggered to me, but whatever you say. And I didn't bring up your purchase history. You did.

Purchased this game twice already (PS3 and PS4 “remastered”). Is there really a need for this?

Opportunity costs. Instead of delaying factions further into the future we get this. I'll play it eventually but I'm not excited about it at all. Tlou is in my top 5 games of all time but this wasn't necessary so soon after the remaster.

Debating prices is meaningless. The 99USD Firefly Edition sold out in a question of minutes. The value of the game is dictated by the market. Making it PS5 only cuts on production and optimisation costs so more profit for devs and Sony. Also, less time working on different versions.

I’m confused by the way. Are we to be enraged to have cross-gen titles or next-gen only? I can’t keep up.

Ιt's subjective sure but not meaningless. From a business standpoint, it shows how a company and the industry in general are treating their customers these days.

If we're talking about new games that supposedly should push the tech forward, next-gen only of course. But in this case, we're talking about a game released in 2013 that is, from the looks of it, being migrated to the engine of TLoU2 with some new improved assets. One would expect that this could easily run on a PS4 as it doesn't seem to be graphically superior to TLoU2.

To think that they've released Horizon TFW, GT7 and the new GoW also coming to PS4 but this remaster couldn't somehow run on the same hardware is laughable for me at least.

Wrong. It actually shows how a company positions itself among the market. The fact that Sony raised their prices shows they see their products as premium and better than lower priced ones. The fact that they're getting away with it shows their customers are fine with it and agree with the asked price.

I watched the trailer and honestly it looks fantastic - I will pick it up, but not for 70 bucks!! Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game. Learned this the hard way after preordering Cyberpunk77

Also, Ellie is looking less and less like E. Page :)

StreetsofBeige StreetsofBeige There you have it. This is definitely the start of day one or month one releases like we anticipated. Wouldnt be surprised if GOW is also day one or 'shortly thereafter'. Exciting times. I wonder if the remake will be 1440p 60 fps like the Uncharted 4 remaster and TLOU2's BC upgrade. My 3080 should be able to run it at 4k 60 fps.

I think a PC port of GOW:R "shortly after" console would be more of an indication that this will be the norm than TLOU 1. Certainly nothing "definite" about it at this point, imo.

It would be a bad move from Sony, they would actually lose sales on PlayStation due to piracy and other shanenigans.

The right choice would be a 2 year exclusivity for PlayStation titles on console.

99% of people who pirate were never going to pay for it. I agree an exclusive period would be best but that excuse is ridiculous.

You could get it to run on low gen hardware, so instead of purchasing a PS5 to play, you could purchase a gaming pc, and Sony has to pay a fee to Valve to publish games on Steam

I guess an upgrade path would be to sell your ps3 and ps4 copies and buy the ps5 game? You can sell the ps3 version for a few bucks... And the ps4 could maybe go for $15... {edit) So around $20-22 total. So the upgrade path is $48-50? Hmmm that is way too much..

This will be gold on PC
Imagine 4k resolution, 60 fps , ray tracing
Guys this will be real for less then a year
O M G

Why are you aiming so low ? 4k ? God of War can be played at 8k on a 4k panel using DRS or with future cards powerful enough, at 16k. Aiming for a piece of shit, moving in reverse, 60 frames has to be the most annoying trend current gen brought. We just had a 500 hz panel announced and most PC monitors in the last many years are all 165/180 hz. A piece of shit 60 hz is not something to aim for, its to laugh at and avoid. Slowmotion like framerate, i swear.

I don't think RT is possible in this game because its all static and baked. There's almost nothing dynamic in Naughty Dog's games because those are expensive and they all had to run on playstations and not at sub 20 frames.

Biggest change for the game will be playing with mouse and keyboard and high refresh rate. Actual high refresh rate, 144 and up. But this would also need a rebalance of the gameplay, since everything now is designed to be manageable on a pad, with copious ammounts of aim assist

Hobbygaming

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
Why make this? The game aged very well visually, and is already playable on PS4 and PS5. Who the hell is this for?
People like me who have TLOU as one of their favorite games ever and for people who have never played the game who want to play it today in way better quality

It's going to be so nice to replay it in better visuals with dualsense features

Could. But considering GAF is a hardcore forum and the vast majority don't game on PC the casual market isn't going to either.

He said "shortly after" ps5 release so my guess is November or December
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves was also supposed to come "shortly after" the PS5 version.
Leaks had it coming this month but I'm not so sure anymore.

I think we'll have Spiderman/Miles Morales + possibly Uncharted in 2022 and TLOU early 2023 (before end of FY22).

I don’t know about it. I think Sony wants to push it to PC asap because of HBO series to capitalise on the hype. I’m not so sure about other games but it’s a good sign regardless!
