All-new PlayStation Plus launches in June with three flexible membership options

We already knew they weren't gonna put first party games on whatever service they were offering day one. Based on that this seems like a pretty good deal! Keen on being able to play classics and some of the games they said will be there at launch it seems solid

PlayStation Now subscribers are converted to the highest tier for free. PS Now is only $60 for a year so buy that in May and you get your first year of PS+ Premium for $60.

We can finally move past this, but knowing how gamers tend to act this will only add another dimension to the neverending console waring :messenger_expressionless:

Interested in PS1, PS2 and PSP for download. Sucks that PS3 is streaming only but i guess that's thanks to the cell architecture being a b*tch to emulate.

Do you think we will see PS1, PS2 and PSP games being offered on the PS Store for separate purchase? Not interested in their Game Pass service. I just want to play old school Playstation games on my PS5.

This is them telling you that you will never see that, sadly. Same for Nintendo, it's over, it's too good of an offer to just roll into their subscriptions.

Jeez, £40 for 3 months vs £25 for GP Ultimate. I can't blame Sony for not putting new releases on there but this pricing is pure arrogance, as usual.

You'd be really, really daft to pay quarterly though when it's a 60% markup on just paying annually. £100/y is actually really good value IF you haven't played a lot of the games on that service.

Extra sounds pretty good. Death Stranding, Miles Morales, Returnal are already 3 games I would've bought at some point.

I hope there is a decent upgrade offer for people who have a lot of time left on their sub.

Considering downloadable PS2 games are already on now (there's a few gems too) I'm most curious as to what PS1 & PSP games are going to be added. I've already got PSNow so it's just a case of waiting to see what games get announced for it in the beginning.

As someone that already has PS+ & PSNow (tho usually bought discounted) it doesn't seem that bad to me

You have no idea for quality. So what u are saying doesn't make sense. You are including xbox originals and xbox360 games. With retro ps plus goes to 740+ games

With the exception of a few additions from Sony at the launch this is just going to be the existing PS4 library on PSNow, we already know what that looks like. Looking forward to Miles though.

Side note: Outside of first-party there aren't many 360/OG Xbox games on the GP platform.

Its 400 PS4 and PS5 games plus 340 PS1, PS2 and PSP games
Yeah. I forgot that I subscribe to services like this to play ancient games...Good to know.

Seriously. Would you rather have 340 PS1/PS2/PSP games or first-party games day one? Because for me it is nobrainer.

Sweet. I’m in for that Premium tier. Anyone know how our previous subs convert or if we can game a discount?

Yeah, no wonder they were so eager to kill the PS3 and Vita web store, the harder you make the legacy library to access the more incentive there is to get the new subscription service to play those beloved games you already bought like 3 or 4 times.

locking classic games to a obscenely expensive tier and still having the balls to make PS3 titles streaming only?

Bruce Willis Wtf GIF
Sure. Go buy a ps1 ps2 and a PSP, and the games you want to play, see how much that set you back and get back to me.

Anybody who thought anything more then this was deluding themselves. Nobody promised day one releases, jims past comments much pretty said they wouldn't.
It's been said for months now that it was mainly restructuring of Plus and Now.

I think some people were hoping they would never have to buy a game ever again 😁

Wonder what will happen to the PSNow app on PC. Actually make use of it regularly at work to stream some Disgaea goodness so would be a shame to see it go

People are complaining about the price, but when was the last time someone in touch with any of these subscription services actually paid full price?

The last 3 years of PS+ I have had have each costed me 40AUD ( 29USD)

It's going to be interesting to see the PS3 games added. Right now, id have to check on how many are on PSNOW, as of today but i think it's close to that number already. Are they not including any new PS3 games? Same for PS4 actually as well.

Yup, hard pass for me. My PS5 is only being used for the 2-3 PS exclusives I want to play every year. And one of those exclusives used the be MLB The SHOW, but that’s now on Gamepass, so, yeah I’m passing on any higher than the level I’m already at.

Because Microsoft has completely transformed their first party line up (not bearing fruit yet, to be fair, but only a matter of time) and will soon be offering the likes of Starfield, Elder Scrolls, COD etc for free, day one, as part of the GP service they seem determined to throw hundred of millions at.

Why exactly do you think they're doing that?

It's because they want Sony's market share. That's a scary prospect when they've got basically endless cash reserves.

It's obviously a dangerous time for Sony, especially because their whole company relies quite heavily on PlayStation. That much just seems obvious to me.
Jesus, the drama.

Can people play Sony games on Xbox? That's a weird bubble you're living on.

Meanwhile in the real world Sony keeps selling millions of their own games, keeps buying studios left and right and has games like God of War Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 in development, plus games like Final Fantasy XVI releasing first on their consoles.

Also..."for free" is a weird thing to say considering gamepass costs over 100 dollars per year.

Sony had basically half of the console market in 2021. With the games they are releasing that won't change any time soon.

Your concern for Sony is touching...but considering their investment in their already owned studios and acquiring new ones, i think you're more concerned then they are.

From my experience when i try PS Now most if not all on there are old games since no day 1 1st party games

You can buy 3 years of Gold than buy gamepass for $1 then convert so 3 years for like 180 wile Sony new thing is 119 yearly

So yeah, you're taking a Gamepass Ultimate very extreme deal and assuming there won't be upgrade options and deals for the Sony service? Ok then.

Gamepass Ultimate is still officially $180 per year tho...
