Agree, James Bond also shouldn't be played by someone like Daniel Craig though.

It's an out of context meme image that doesn't represent what actually happens in the movie.
It's a meme, so that's kinda the point, no?

Regardless of the context, it illustrates my feelings towards the modern Bond movies better than an extensive forum post by me.

I'm glad that it's his last Bond movie, that's for sure. Do I actually care about future Bond installments? Absolutely not.

Ah so you don't care about the movies and are just posting in Bond threads to troll. Got it.

That's not her house. Did you even watch the movie? It was BOND'S childhood home. It was Home Alone with James Bond.
Man, you act like I (or anyone) really care. Sure I watched it. Once. God knows how many years ago.

Who the F cares who's house is it, really ? After all those years...

I'm telling you, I really have no interest in modern day Bond movies where they try and successfully deconstruct him from a "power male fantasy" to just another "human being" and make him "relatable", make him feel, have a background and all that grounded stuff. Who asked for any of this?

I don't agree with Craig and it's patently stupid rhetoric.

That said, I also don't care if they keep Bond a white, cis male.

Just make an offshoot series, where his daughter, Jenna Bond, is a smoking hot 21 year old.

> cis male

I hate this clown world.

And if you want a character like that, then go and make your own. Don't try and ruin an existing one that many of us like.

James Bond is a male character. I hope that there will be many, many films made with women, for women, by women, about women.’

Pretty much encapsulates everything about this sad and mediocre imitation of a Bond movie.

Gotta disagree there.

In No Time to Die, yes, she drives him around on that moped. She's also next to pointless in the entire film and Bond still gets the limelight. As it should be.

And Tomorrow Never Dies is my favourite Bond film, for what it's worth.

Rewatched Casino Royale last night, it's been a while since I last saw it
I'd say it's hands down the best Bond to date, Skyfall is a second for me

Seriously one of the best Bond intros ever. The 00 killshot into the kick ass theme.

I like Casino Royale because it changed who Bond is, and showed you why he is the way he is.
And I think it has some great memorable scenes which stands with if not above the greats in not just bond films but in general cinama

Casino Royale/Skyfall are better Bond movies than both Dalton movies and the last three Brosnan movies.
Na, The Living Daylights is better than Skyfall. I'll give you Casino Royale, but thats the only Craig one that I actually consider good, while for Brosnan I can watch the first 3 and really enjoy them.
Dalton is underrated as Bond and better than Craig at it, his movies are really good. Just cause they didnt do very well at the box office doesnt mean they were not very good.
Craig never had the sophistication and he already looked old by the second movie.

I would counter that what is “stupid” is taking established characters and playing identity games with them to satisfy some misguided feelings about “equity”. The story of James Bond is about a man with specific characteristics. If people want a character with different characteristics, they can create one. But it will cease to be James Bond. The creator can call this new character James Bond, but it will not be the same character.

If I decided to make a sequel for Turner and Hooch with a kangaroo instead of a dog, it would be different. Even if I have insisted the kangaroo was just like the dog, it wouldn’t be. That might make for a good movie. But it would necessarily be different because the characters are different.

I don't even look at it as equality. Sometimes it's just nice to try something new.

Like I said before, this is a 'why not have both' solution.

Maybe they should mix it up for the modern zoomer/millenial cinemagoer, make a female bond go all out. Pink haired, mannish features, plus she's gotta be overweight so she is both stunning & brave, tailored with just enough wokeness. She wouldn't actually physically fight anyone instead she just cancels them online, her only bond gadget is her mobile phone & twitter account.

Few starter ideas film titles for directors to use.

007 danger hair
You only get cancelled twice
Hashtags are forever

If you want to try something new, try something new. But if you take something people already like and turn it into something they don’t like, they are rightly going to be disappointed and are likely to express that disappointment. This isn’t complicated. People like the character of James Bond. They have a certain attachment to him. If you completely gut fundamental elements of that character, people are going to complain.

Please no.

Tom hiddleston on the other hand...a much better actor and he looked splendid in that bootleg 007 serial he was in

For sure, though to be fair, 007 has already been pretty gutted and turned into crap.

Anyway, you could just have a spin off series with a female 008 or something.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion

I would go further than that myself and say that Casino Royale might be the most "James Bond" film ever made or at least top 3. It has literally everything that one would traditionally label as being necessary for a Bond film. The class, the women, the sex, the cars, the intrigue/politics, and of course the spycraft. And it did it all while introducing a new Bond. And Craig made Bond an actual human being rather than the borderline cartoon character that Bond has been shown to be at times. He had faults and he made mistakes. He took the character and made him a person.

I will never understand why people who claim to be huge bond fans try to shit on Royale. The rest of the Craig films I can get, but Royale is basically a love letter to classic Bond fans and is almost painfully a by the numbers Bond film outside of Craig himself.

Why wouldn't a female seducer work?

The seduction and womaniser part of Bond was also very heavily downplayed in recent movies.
And women using sex is an actual tactic with irl spies and it has been throughout history.
It'd be more accurate than with Bond tbh if we want to look at real spies and agents.
It works especially because it's a sexual dynamic between a man and a woman. That's part of the fantasy for both male and female audiences.
I'm sorry but it's just not the same lol

His name is literally JAMES.

Well there is a British YouTuber whose name is "James Stephanie", and who wants to be referred to as "they/them". This person also seems to be a bit overweight and could therefore serve as a great role model for a woke James Stephanie Bond.
