No.
But it would change my buying habits. I'd probably wait for a 50% off sale on almost everything as I just don't think digital games are worth as much

Yes 100 percent.
my real issue with digital has and always will storage, if consoles had 16 - 20 TB HDD maybe...that's never going to happen. I play/finish a lot of games and installing a game every time I want to play more then 5 -10 titles, and it taking hours on end to install (I own at least 100 games per platform)is a no from me 100% . I don't buy games that require downloads or internet...its complete on disc/cart or nothing. At the end of the day I don't need games I play them because I enjoy them; however if they stop meeting my standards I don't have to buy a new one ever again. Somehow these companies have mistaken want for need.

Buy less games… you don’t need to play everything. In fact I’d say if you can’t ever find any games that last you a few months then you don’t really like those game anyway you are just addicted to buying something new.
I don't play everything though, at least I don't think so. Probably haven't ever spent over $1,000-1,500 on software a year and that's a stretch.

I think the last digital game I had was MGSV…digital games should sorely be for collectors at this point. Other than that you just holding onto a dying medium. Like people who buy CDs.

Going all digital is the least of my concerns about gaming, however it does facilitate all the stuff I hate (gaas, unfinished games, micro transactions, etc.)

Nope, all digital now as it is, plus it's not like the games themselves change so not sure why it'd make someone who enjoys games suddenly not enjoy the hobby anymore.

Unless you are a serious collector i dont see why people care about box art, nobody else finds it impressive that you bought video games. Getting up to find a game to play just to change my mind after it boots up is annoying, glad its over.

NO PAIN TRANCE CONTINUE
That's like giving up on films when you're only able to stream... ofcourse not.

Would you stop eating if it's only accessible by way of ordering?

Does that comparison hold? I don't know!

No, but I would give up consoles, and already have, as disc based games are becoming more and more like worthless coasters. With console life cycles, I don't trust consoles with digital gaming.

I buy pretty much everything digitally now. No reason to own discs. With so many games shipping broken or unfinished there's no point in collecting games these days.

Definitely not. I much prefer using a service like Steam over switching discs. It's why I prefer PC's in general -- everything you need in one system.

I also dislike when discs take up space in the room, especially when I stop using them. This happens every console cycle.

I think I’d play less unless it was all game pass. If I’m buying a game I want to own the physical version so I can sell it when I’m done. Fuck these digital only versions. It’s just a way for them to sell more and control shit

I wouldn't give up gaming but I'd be very unhappy if physical disappeared. There are many benefits to physical games. Discs give you access to the second hand market which can be substantially cheaper than buying games new. They give you access to more market places to buy new games so you aren't restricted to only buying from the Xbox or Playstation Store. They allow you to share games with other people and to sell games. They also give you access to versions of games prior to them being patched which may be important for historical and game preservation purposes. Also, physical games sometimes have the option for interesting physical items (e.g. toys and figurines) in physical collectors editions which digital collectors editions may not have.
Just a note, but you aren't restricted to the Xbox store to buy digital games for Xbox. Or Nintendo's store for digital games for Switch. Both have digital codes available on Amazon and other retail outlets. You're only restricted by Sony when it comes to buying digital console games.

Is slightly more xpensive because of game sharing and you getting 2 digital licences, so if you have a friend you game share with it can become much cheaper

From my experience it's usually a lot more expensive. Plus with physical you have access to the used games market which can give you crazy low prices.

I’d certainly give up collecting, but why would it stop me from gaming? 3 pages and I still don’t understand why anyone would actually stop gaming for it.

I’ve been doing hybrid. I buy disc whenever I purchase a game, however I go digital if it’s free to play (obviously) or if I’m games sharing with my friend or brother.

the games I purchase are usually AAA blockbusters like From Software games, Guerilla Games, etc. can also lend said games out or resell for some minor ROI

the games that get shared are usually multiplayer games like cod (which have fallen far from grace and I’m not giving activision my money)

I much prefer physical, but if gaming did go completely digital (which it will eventually) I wouldn't give it up. I enjoy gaming to much.

Anybody that votes yes doesn't love gaming as much as they say they do, or they are trying to act "tough" and would simply grumble and bitch about it on the internet.

I prefer digital overall nowadays, but still buy many games physically simply due to the fact that I will only play through once. If physical didn't exist anymore it wouldn't change anything for me besides waiting more often for sales.

Not really you can sell the game and borrow it to a freind.
At this point in my life the inconvenience of trading or selling games is more expensive than it is to just leave it as clutter on a shelf to collect dust. Driving to a store, waiting in line, waiting for the clerk to check to make sure the game works...just not worth it for what I'd get for it. Selling online is just as inconvenient with the time spent packing and shipping and waiting for the inevitable chargeback when someone tries to scam you for it. Physical games aren't worth the effort. Even buying them is a hassle. If I want to play a new digital game when I get home from work I buy it on my phone before I leave work and its installed and waiting when I get home. If I have a game on disc I have to wait for it to install from disc and then also download and install the inevitable day 1 patch. Discs just waste so much valuable time.

I wouldn't. I would just buy fewer modern games, but no I definitely wouldn't stop. Not playing the next major Zelda or Mario game from Nintendo, or GTA, or Forza Motorsports, Halo, or Gran Turismo, Ratchet & Clank... because they're digital only? Nonsense.

What would probably happen is that outside of those high budget big blockbuster games, I would be mostly a retro gamer.

Buying retail versions is a hassle? Costs me about one minute to buy a game.

About your agument buying it from your phone and installing the game and It's ready to play makes no fucking sense. If you buy a retail version nobody forces you to sit in front of your console waiting the install process to complete.

Well you can see the flaws somewhat of being all digital, with Sony releasing a new patch that is 50-50 where you fall and could ultimatley leave your console for dead, I have chosen not to update it yet, but that means all the digital games I have purchased Abzu, Sonic Mania, Streets of Rage 4 are off-limits until I connect to PSN but the only way to do that is to download the update which could risk my PS4 Pro being unplayable...

No I doubt I'll stop, but I doubt i'll get a console ever again if digital is the only option. It will completely lose it's charm, and I don't own anything.
Only one platform to get your games on? Bad idea.

I'll be more cautious in the games I'm getting myself. Which you should already, regardless.

digtal
Is about £10 more expensive on average , so you buy call of duty and your friend buys battlefield. You have access to both games and spent 10 more than a physical copy of one game

Im not buying games to share with other people so digital is always more expensive for me. I only need one copy not two.

I stopped buying physical a decade ago, it's a waste of space in your house and you run out of physical space at some point. Also once your collection grows to a certain point it becomes hard to manage.

Yes.
I'm old and have a lifetime of gaming memories and a wall full of games that I own that I can happily replay until my last day.
Not to mention the retro gaming scene. I never owned a Saturn. I've never played on one. Same with PC-FX, 3D0 and CD-i. There is enough physical gaming goodness in the world that's still "new" to me to keep me loaded with new gaming experiences for many years to come.
Also, new games mostly suck. Why would I want to play them at all, regardless of format?

Part of the reason I still game on console is the physical media it provides. If they dropped the physical part then consoles wouldn't do much for me. All digital wouldn't make me stop gaming but it definitely make me consider going all in on PC. Also there's no way in hell I'd get games day 1.

Video games is already a huge money pit, so that's a huge reason/benefit of physical copies. I guess waiting for games to hit sales is a good option, but depending the game, waiting months on end on one could make a game either a bad or wasted purchase(thinking most MP games here).

I see what you're saying, but if you're playing multiplayer games then I would argue the physical vs digital is mostly moot anyway since if the multiplayer servers go down the game is worthless anyway. I very rarely buy games full price now, and I wait for Steam sales. The recent exceptions being Bravely Default II and Tales of Arise, but that was because I was bored out of my mind and I had a hankering for some JRPGs.

The only reason I'm still buying discs is that I usually can find them cheaper than buying digital.

But I fucking hate swapping discs. Feels like I traveled back in time twenty years.

Why anyone would give up gaming entirely just because the game is digital is beyond my ability to comprehend. It's fine to prefer physical over digital, but if digital is the only option you're just going to throw in the towel and never play a video game again? Major first world problems right there.
Because money. They are doing digital so you can’t get it on sale or used. Look at the digital stores at some older games pricing

Apparently you've never looked at the sales that Steam has multiple times per year. Pricing is a non-issue here.

your complaining that games are more expensive on digital and I have showed you a way they ain’t. As usual you just being awkward lol

Not really because in the end in still paying more for them.

You want me to explain to you how a higher price is more expensive than a lower one?

Its not cheaper if it has a higher price.

And honestly your the one being weird bringing in sharing as a way to lower the price. It's not like I split the price of the game with my friends. I usually only buy the copy for myself.

It doesn't matter to me as I've already checked out.

All I do is browse gaming forums whilst never actually playing them.
