Well, when it comes to conflicting/plausible content and immersion, every person is different. Some care, some dont. There's all kinds:

- Character
- Setting
- Plot

For example, I like WWII shooters. I want to test out COD Vanguard when the Xbox beta is up. But watching videos it does seem weird to attach red dot kind of scopes to a WWII gun. I think one reticule is a green dot. I'll have to test for myself how ok or dumb it is for overall appeal. I use iron sights all the time in WWII games so it may not be an issue, but if I'm forced to use some high tech gizmos in a WWII game I might ditch the game as too wacky.

Just to show how setting can turn off people, there are some before COD beta came out for PS, they were already turned off by this alternate reality WWII. Well, it's just a setting guys. Just accept it as writer innovation. No?

I can't see how this is pandering or woke or any of the shite you cunts are coming off with, it's a fucking character in a videogame. They no doubt cast for the part and went with who they felt best fit the role.

It's fucking 2021 and when you have a large cast of characters in your game, spreading the love to other ethnicities IS NO BIG DEAL it's not pandering it's called fucking diversity and tbh if you have a problem with this or hide behind excuses as to why there shouldn't be a POC in this fantasy videogame, you're a closet racist in my book.

I don't understand, are you taking what I said seriously and getting angry about my big vagina joke? I have to say I wasn't really considering the timeline when I made it.

The joke was an appeal to absurdity, I would presume even in the mythology she didnt physically pass a world sized serpent through her poon.

Alternative version of this post:

In that case I'm glad it wasn't a full body shot of her at the end, but I'd bet her clam is still in better shape than most of the 15 year olds that live in my area. Not speaking from personal experience ofc, its just I live in Scotland so its a fair assumption to make.
I would have hoped the line about Atreus being a worse father than Kratos would have made it obvious im being silly.

Diversity? Where's all the Latinos in gaming history?

A spin-off? How about if they go TLOU2, kill Kratos and replace him with Angerboda and a non-binary trans/gender fluid Atreus?

Something that proves this is that if the next GoW is in Egipt most characters there would be black, arab, etc. and nobody would complain about it. As in the case when they made an AC in Egipt.
Something tells me that if Kratos and Atreus start killing Egyptian blacks and arabs, there will be a fuckton of complaints.

man who tf cares, I love her design tbh.

This shouldn't be controversial its not like they made Atreus black in this game when he was white in the first...now THAT should be controversial lol

anything about

Angrboda

before she appeared as a black girl in a trailer.

Seriously guys and girls who gives a shit. It's partly the dude's fault for even responding but come on. Who fucking gives a shit?

It's not even real... it's mythology!

It would be like getting annoyed at someone portraying Jesus as a black dude. Who gives a shit... apparently you lot do.

If this were some historical accurate game I can see people bringing that up but otherwise right, who cares? There are blue people and . monsters and gods , so who is really bothered by this?

Well... can't care about the game nor the diversity bullshit. Woke guys gonna do woke shit.

Let them do what they want to do. If you don't like it show how with your wallet.

That being said, they already mixed things when they bring Kratos to Norse mythology. The only problem is what motivate the studio to do this.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I admit I rolled my eyes when she was first revealed.
But that's more to do with the fact that everyone is doing the diversity thing these days.
But honestly I really don't care and she's probably a great character

Norse MYTHOLOGY is NOT real. GIANTs are not real. No one knows what a Giant looks like, or what skin color they have or are supposed to have. It's whatever the arts would like to depict them as... If you automatically assume that a Giant is supposed to be white, that's on you. I just find it weird that skin color is an issue in a game where there is someone who is Blue, A lot of Grey/Dark Grey people, I think even a few Green ones and even a couple Reds.

Why not make next GOW game set in Africa with Kratos fighting "spirits" or some shit or just Egypt where it would still make sense for Egyptian gods to be black. It's just plain stupid in Norse mythology.

Really? Having a black girl in Norse mythology is stupid? Not the fact that a god from Greece is in Midgard killing Norse gods ? “Not historically accurate” is the what people hide behind to disguise the real reason they’re outraged.

What's the issue?

It's mythology, it's not like gospel or anything....

(People should give the creators a break and the little girl...she is seeing this bullshit online, that's not right)

Exactly. The poor kid is 17 and reading all this shit online. Not the kind of impression of the society you want to leave on kids.

Then why not make the whole cast diverse with multiple ethnicities? Hell, make Kratos black. His VAs have always been black anyway.

It's not about diversity. It's about virtue signaling. About shielding their game from the woke (god of war too white) crowd.
I bet she will be very nice and very smart and her writers will feel bold by "breaking new ground" since American white liberals think black people are rude and dumb.

If I ever see a game about African deities I don't expect to see a token white character. But hey, maybe I'm a nazi.

Tbh I am more interested in the meetings these companies have when they are all around the board table with the diversity manager saying. " right guys, err and girls, we need to do this"
Nah..they have lots of designers working with unique drawings and sculptures...and the leads and the director choose

At least is what I have seen in lotr movie extras .. i don't think gaming is so diverse....

I just want to react about the fact that nobody has a problem with Kratos being voiced by Christopher Judge. Kratos who is not the nicest guy on earth has been voiced by two black voice actors for the same reason Darth Vader has been voiced by James Earl Jones. Some black people have a naturally deeper, more threatening voice. So it's not a choice out of place.

Blue people= okay

dragons= okay

a Greek god killing Nordic gods and being the father of Loki= Okay

a black girl in Sweden= diversity hire

The red pillers get more annoying daily. Just enjoy the game and stop complaining. Then will say others are easily triggered.

This outrage, pure and simple, is garbage. Anyone who is outraged should consider themselves to be a garbage human being. Kratos is a black man, played by a black man and is also part of Greek Mythology and in lore is a white man, but somehow that's ok? Fuck every one of you garbage pieces of shit. It's a game, get over it or don't play it.

Teal'c playing some dude on a vengeance to kill "gods" definitely doesn't feel out of place.

I have no issue with this, its not a nordic company or a nordic staff so I don't expect this to be some sort of cultural icon.

I had issues when people were complaining about the Witcher 3 not having PoC because it was a Polish game made by a Polish company based on a Polish novel and Polish mythology. So it was a piece of cultural work and it didn't have to change itself to match international standards if it didn't want to.

This is an American game... I have no expectations of cultural accuracy.

The only thing i know is that she has by far the most detailed\realistic human face in the whole trailer, little shit and freya looks pretty gamey compared to her, freya had like zero facial upgrades compared to the first game.
Yeah, i noticed the same. Her facial expressions are amazing.

Just to remember u all Kratos is not 'white" he is covered in ashes.

Kratos is Greek, Greece sees lots of sunshine its ok for him to be tanned :)

Personally, I have never had anything against gays, lesbians, POC or different races/cultures.

But how the world has recently been pushing that particular agenda, people who do push said agenda are starting to repulse me.

And this otherwise innocuous but out of place appearance of a dark skinned gal in the mythological North is a bit annoying to me.

So from my experience, the more they push the agenda, the more regular folks will at some point say enough is enough.

Thank you white people for having a token black character to make yourselves feel better in a game where it's clearly out-of-place. There are black people sick of this shit (speaking as one). A bunch of white writers inserting black faces into places to absolve their white guilt.

Tbh, I didn’t really think about it until it inevitably became an issue with some, and unsurprisingly blown out of all proportions. Just let them make the game they want to make and if you don’t like the idea of the game having a mythological black giant, then ignore it and move on.
Yeah. It was just sort of there and thought "cool, Egypt link" and moved on, but some people made it out to be more than it should be. The development team can do whatever they want, some designs they decided to be accurate to Norse, other things they didn't. Starting with the protagonist and his son.

No need to overthink it. Kratos is also confirmed to be losing his white ashes overtime.

Its a good point because when it comes to media, the trend is putting tons of minorities in them.

Yet the staff and writers are basically all white most of the time or like 80/20 white/asian (American and Euro teams), or all Asian for games made in Japan or Korea.

They have an urge for multiculture media and artwork to sell, but they have zero interest actually hiring dark skinned minorities whether it's Latinos, Black or Indians.

Yeah, I mean the VA for Kratos is black but this decision was 100% "hehe let's get a reaction out of the Internet" which is easily transparent. It's pandering for the sake of "engagement" and so this writer can chase clout.

Well, for me, this is my cultural heritage. Norse mythology is just something that is very close for many Scandinavians. It's not like we believe in it, but it's ours. It belongs to us. Even without having a divested interest in it, most Scandinavians will have knowledge of norse mythology above and beyond people outside our countries.

Angrboda was jotun, and for them ro make her African, just feels like yet another way for Americans to take other peoples cultures, and "fix" them to their liking.

I'm not upset by this. I just think it's dumb. It'd be slightly believable if they'd gone the eastern route, but Africa? How about we insert some token white guys into african mythologies?

I just hope they explain it. If there's a good explanation for it all, okay. Fine. They made a good and truthful representation of Thor, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

But there are better ways of doing diversity. Like making a game set in Africa, or some other continent full of stories we're never told because it's more convenient to shove token characters on us as a cheap excuse for diversity.

It's the chicken shit way of doing it.

In all honesty I was excited when I saw her as I thought it might connect to the Egyptian Gods they hinted at in the first game. I'm not outraged I keep it moving. But please stop being so dramatic. We both know that if this was a God of War Egypt and it had white people, the exact same things would be said. I thought it was weird in that movie Gods of Egypt ircc that only like 1 God was black. Culture appropriation seems to be okay if it's done by other races. Such as Edris Elbra as Heimdall in the MCU. I didn't care about it cause I like the actor. But let's not act like it wouldn't have been a problem if white people were in Wakanda. Do people say Wu-Tang Clan appropriate? Or that they love Asian Martial Arts movie?
