Yap exactly my concerns.
The claims of 'Sony first party AAA games = blow you away = ps5 will do just fine = ps5 will sell gangbusters again' . Imo that is just too complacent and also different from what Playstation is known for.
Imo sticking with 'AAA' is just pumping big bucks into smaller selections and hope the studios delivers and gamers are still hooked on the type of game designs by said studios.
Maybe by 2028, some people will realize that selling consoles isn't the key goal of the console industry anymore.I have a crystal ball and I can see the future, by 2028:
- PS5 will be north of 100m
- Sony first party will still have a goty after goty that sells better than anything with MS.
- we will look back at such articles and laugh, just like we laughed at "selling 10m doesn't mean much" in 2014.
- MS will still be hiding their console sold numbers lol.

It's still a massive part of it picture selling 100mil+ consoles and expanding your ecosystem to pc aswell is a recipe for success imoMaybe by 2028, some people will realize that selling consoles isn't the key goal of the console industry anymore.
Why the PS4 was a success:
I too am EXTREMELY concerned over this strategy that made the Playstation 4 an overwhelmingly successful console.
Maybe by 2028, some people will realize that selling consoles isn't the key goal of the console industry anymore.
Why the PS4 was a success:
Superior console compared to competitor
Cheaper console compared to competitor
Superior, while cheaper console (this is so important that it's its own point again)
Focus on being a gaming console, not TV TV TV
Exclusive games were mostly good to great
Exclusive to Gamepass, not a console. That's kinda my point. This is bullshit and you know it.
If you believe this crap you wouldn't cheer for Bethesda games to be exclusives
Be fucking honest for onceExclusive to Gamepass, not a console. That's kinda my point.
Sony feels like it’s going for the causal market that only buys the big games like last of us and uncharted. Leaving the more hardcore gamers getting there fix elsewhere. Not a bad way to go, as a casual I tend to only get the big games anyways so all good to me. Hope they bring them to pc but if not I’ll get another ps5 with the profits form selling my 1st.
GoT was Shuhei's last baby in WWS, you have to pray at lord Hermen now.So the video brings Ghost of Tsushima as an example to prove its point? The fck?
How much risk do you want? Its a new IP, its competing with Far cry/AC the setting is a big gamble. And yet Sony had the balls to do it and it turned out great. If thats what the future is Im down.
Im stil salty about Days Gone 2
GoT was Shuhei's last baby in WWS, you have to pray at lord Hermen now.
Numbers only matters when its gameass only!Be fucking honest for once
The future of a company that sells products is to not sell those products?Maybe by 2028, some people will realize that selling consoles isn't the key goal of the console industry anymore.
How to turn a profit as a console gaming company:The future of a company that sells products is to not sell those products?
I love HermanGoT was Shuhei's last baby in WWS, you have to pray at lord Hermen now.
Big brain businessHow to turn a profit as a console gaming company:
Grow your platform by any means necessary
Get 30% commissions on every transaction on your platform
Sell monthly subscriptions to your various services
Sell exclusive games and hopefully make more money than you spent on the games
How not to turn a profit as a console gaming company:
Sell consoles at loss or break even
I do hope that Shuhei's deparment somehow replaces Japan studio's co-production efforts, he feels sidelined tho, but who knows.Yes, Playstation is dangerously all in on "too big to fail" AAA games. It's all they've got.
Please spare me this wilful ignorance.
When Shuhei Yoshida stepped away from SIE WWS he moved to become head of “a newly formed initiative that will focus on nurturing external independent creators.”
Sony has always had the greatest depth and breadth in their game catalogue. With Shuhei in charge of this area, it will only get better.
The Nintendo Switch made more profits in 3 years than PS4 in 7, while selling quite a bit fewer consoles. Your point makes sense for Nintendo since they heavily rely on exclusives, but it doesn't make sense for Playstation.Big brain business
Which gaming division posted record profits? Remind me again. The company that just sold 120 million consoles, the one that is selling 80+ million consoles, or the one who just scraped 50~ million consoles?
And then tell me one more time, the most successful console company isn't the one that sells most consoles?
And the Wii was the fastest selling console ever. Nintendo know what they're doing. The Nintendo Switch made more profits in 3 years than PS4 in 7, while selling quite a bit fewer consoles. Your point makes sense for Nintendo since they heavily rely on exclusives, but it doesn't make sense for Playstation.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but doesn't Sony make more than ms in the gaming industry as a whole? How to turn a profit as a console gaming company:

The sidelined comments it's because he went from being in front full center of the company boasting about the new games coming, how the production works, the strategy and what not, being the public face of PS basically to a couple of tweets now and then. How so? I think the mere fact Sony put one of it's most celebrated execs into this role, (a role, if I'm correct, he personally asked for) means they take diversity in their line up very seriously.
Now, if this role has already borne fruit, then maybe Sony should make us fully aware of it. If not, then no fear, Shuhei will produce.
Full steam ahead Sony.
I listed the reasons why PS4 was successful earlier in the thread.Forgive me if I'm wrong but doesn't Sony make more than ms in the gaming industry as a whole?
Actually Microsoft made PS4 so succesful with tvtvtv, always on, copy protection and number 1 reason: 100 bucks more expensive on release. Sony would have sold easily 90-100 million consoles without a single exclusive game. Casuals don't give a shit about exclusive games.so, what made PS4 so succesfull is now a bad thing because?
So to sell more games and services that bring profit, a console company shouldn't focus on selling consoles, instead it should expand to non-console gaming devices to sell its games made for consoles. The consoles don't bring any profit, the games/services do, THAT's the product, hence Sony wanting to sell them as much as possible, a.k.a. expanding to PC and mobile markets.
