Do you genuinely believe that the goal posts are being moved on just one particular side?

Because from what I understand on GAF is that everyone is as bad as each other and it doesn't take long to dismantle some spurious claims.

They're too stupid to learn.
What makes all this so hilarious.

Its like some ppl are just waiting, anxious for that magical moment when the full power of the XSX will show its head. And when they think its here, they jump out there.

.....instead of looking at all the comparisons, analysis as a whole.....

Instantly ppl should have known something was wrong.....when you look at every comparison, analysis as a whole..... Some ppl did, and came up with possible reasons.

But no...for others that magical moment was finally here....

You are not new here...

Xbox fans create that narrative that games should run better in the most powerful console ever created.

I know I'm not new here. But the sensible ones would be happy with the results regardless of what the PS5 version is like. The hardcore fanboys like Tim Dog well they are a different animal to deal with.

This thread becomes even funnier when you consider that 99*% of people ITT can't even play the 120 hz performance mode.

(* estimated number based on people downplaying VRR which means they likely have old shitty TVs)

Blow Your Mind Wow GIF by Product Hunt

That's why a 4K@60 mode exists. Just because people are talking about the 120FPs mode doesn't mean they are not interested in the fidelity option. Which is great on both systems BTW.

PS5 in Fidelity mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 3552x1998. Pixel counts below 3840x2160 seem to be rare on PS5 in Fidelity mode.

Xbox Series X in Fidelity mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 3264x1836. Pixel counts below 3840x2160 seem to be rare on Xbox Series X in Fidelity mode.

Pretty cool how close these systems* are in all modes.

* Excluding the XSS of course.

People hating on XSS but its doing exactly what it should be doing. When a game runs at 1440p on the big boys, at what resolution should it run on a console with roughly a third of the power?

Well the XSS isn't close to tbe PS5 or XSX. I didn't want people to think I was saying they all those systems were close.

Why should that bother you?

We were told that the numbers for both consoles (especially those TF numbers) don't tell the whole story and that these consoles are incredibly efficient.
We were also told to expect games to be virtually identical bar a few minor differences.
The above was communicated to us by developers or experts in their respective fields.
We've known to expect a visually closer generation than PS4 vs Xbox One but a certain crowd continued with the 12TF Monster for breakfast shit for months and in some cases still do not knowing that any sort of parity with PS5 is actually a win for PS5.
How can a 10TF keep up with a 12TF. Where is that 30% gap some on here were shouting from the rooftops?
I fucking actually recently seen someone mention the 30% gap in the Tony Hawk thread. Fucking embarrassing.

Its quite bizarre. And it looks like both PS5 and Series X are basically next gen twins despite the numbers on paper.
When you're a console warrior, all rational thought seems to take a long extended vacation.

I'm an Xbox fan.
I don't care for the XSS, I'm happy with my XSX and what it does.
Gamepass is excellent
PS5 is going to have some cool games in the future and is packing some punches.

So what narrative am I meant to be spinning?
Not all of us 'Xbox fans' do this.
I own 160+ PS4 games. I now have a Series S and very happy with it.

What does that mean? I'm still a huge PS fan and I like Xbox, 'Like' being the key word there. I don't love Xbox. If there was a PS5 available right now I'd run out to go buy it.
So I can see value in both platforms and I like to partake in topics regarding both platforms. I have issues with people who just want to enter these topics to stir shit.
There are some of us who want to talk about things and yes negative opinions are ok in threads. I can respect anyone who has a negative opinion. But I won't respect a fucking troll who's sole aim is to derail discussions.

It is actually 21 frames or 175ms of frames below 120fps.
Thats not damaging if its 21 frames at 120 fps in occasionally and im sure it drops on series x aswell, i mean frame drops are a thing if they happen oftenly not once in 30 minutes of gameplay which in most games ps5 holds frame rates while it flactuates on xbox more often not that small 57-60fps drops matters to me, but they hint something. Series x drops frames/ stutters when streaming data i.e see control, cyberpunk, crash , when theres more stuff on screen i.e polygons, alpha textures see hitman 3, nba 2k21, need for speed. The constant volatile fps drops in some games was the reason it became a big topic about series x

Devs are clearly in the wrong here!

trust the pixel counters with their eyepower...
So now we back to dismissing all analysis then. Whose next up on the chopping block, DF?

Maybe some of you should actually read the thread...

512 GB Digital Only XSX at $349+ instead of $299 XSS... problem solved ;)... but no, devs have to take into account the slower CPU, much smaller RAM, less CU’s in the GPU, and a lower GPU clockspeed (which reduced performance that the TFLOPS number does not count... geometry engine, primitive setup and rasterisation, HW dispatcher and ACE’s, fillrate/blending through ROP’s, etc...). Also, is it resolution only or quality of effects, draw distance, and other factors are affected?

Now take those 1440p games with even heavier load on the CPU and add GPU used for more RT and genera compute for the game itself and the stress of maxing the XSX while not screwing over the XSS grows... just adds complications.

A tie? Damn that's another win for PS5!!! That 18% advantage from xbox became extinct faster than the dodo birds. It'll only get worse for xbox here on out when the real next gen games comes out.

I would probably have bought a 399 DD only XSX. I have the S but when XSX is readily available or gets its first pricedrop I likely replace it. Or keep it for emulators. But for me its not a console thats going to last for years.

Naaaa, it's just funny seeing some people fuming because their "super duper tflop beast" is just on par with the other plastic box.

There was a time where someone decided that the XSS would give PS5 a run for its money. Well, that narrative didn't live up to expectations.

Yep he said something like 6 month after the console released the XSS would give a hard times to ps5....That didn't went well.
But at least he didn't pretend to be neutral while shilling for a brand like some users do.

But what about asmr Cerny whispering his soft promises of superfast io and an ssd speed never seen before in the gaming world. Hard soldered onto the motherboard providing the most earth shattering speed of io and vertices and whatever else it does....to find its loading loads of games slower/barely faster than the xbox with a standard off the shelf drive?

Both sides have made marketing statements and both consoles haven't performed to whats expected from what fanboys were shouting about.
To be fair, we have seen what that SSD can do:
  • New game mechanics and faster traversal example in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and Forspoken.
  • High-fidelity, high-quality textures and billions of polygons in Demon's Souls (4Gb/s data throughput) and Unreal Engine 5 demo.
  • Super-fast loading speed in Astro, Spider-Man, Nioh 2, etc, that takes 1-2 seconds.
We haven't seen anything what that 12 Tflop of XSX GPU can do.

P.S. As far as loading speeds in multiplatform games go, we know that the old-gen game codes completely bypass decompressor units and the PS5 I/O (confirmed by PS5's Engineer, Matt), and the loading screens as of now are just the consoles brute-forcing them (as confirmed by Control's dev when he said that we didn't work on optimizing the loading speed at all).

DeS isn't using the features of UE5. It's not constantly streaming geometry data. This means so far we haven't seen anything but fast load times and tech demos. I hope R&C delivers.

I didn't say Demon's Souls is using UE5 features. But the game did send 4 Gb/s data to achieve its level of graphical fidelity, as confirmed by the developer (BluePoint) themselves.

Yes, it sends 4 GB/s of data every time a new chunk is loaded, which allows for higher details at shorter loading times. It's still not comparable to UE5, mainly because what we've seen on UE5 couldn't run on an HDD. DeS could, with some tinkering.

Shouldn't project yourself onto other people. Its not a good look lol.
You really seem to like the constructive and intellectual defense known as "NO U".I'm not saying it's childish but even my 8 years old nephew grew past it, maybe it is time for you to evolve at the level of my nephew.
Maybe it will help you to stop complaining about each and every thread.
Now have a great day.
