PS5 in Fidelity mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 3552x1998. Pixel counts below 3840x2160 seem to be rare on PS5 in Fidelity mode.

Xbox Series X in Fidelity mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 3264x1836. Pixel counts below 3840x2160 seem to be rare on Xbox Series X in Fidelity mode.

PS5 in Performance mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 2112x1188. Pixel counts at 2560x1440 seem to be common on PS5 in Performance mode.

Xbox Series X in Performance mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1920x1080. Pixel counts at 2560x1440 seem to be common on Xbox Series X in Performance mode.

Xbox Series S in Fidelity mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being 1920x1080. Pixel counts at 2560x1440 seem to be common on Xbox Series S in Fidelity mode.

Xbox Series S in Performance mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 1600x900 and the lowest resolution found being 1280x720. Pixel counts at 1600x900 seem to be common on Xbox Series S in Performance mode.

The lowest resolutions found here were from a different scene than was tested in the last-gen test.

The 120fps footage here was captured at 1080p

So 120hz is 1440p after all. Drops even less low than Xbox. I think the confusion is that the PS5 doesn't support native 1440p. So on such a monitor it probably drops to 1080p.

Series S 720p though, damn. Even though its higher on average they're better off dropping 120hz and RT for this system.

I knew if a GTX 1060 can get 1440p 120fps, a PS5 would be able to do it. I thought they locked it due to PS5 not be able to support 1440p at 120hz..

This is funny considering what was posted in the Tony Hawk thread a few days ago.

My question is, because of all of the " the tools have arrived" type posts. Has anything changed? Or have the tools now gone missing again?

IO interactive managed to deliver Hitman 3 in higher res, but with some framedrops at certain spots. I dunno if or why the PS5 version wasn't native 4k either, its very close to it anyway and doesn't drop. For the rest it seems nothing has really changed so far.

lmao, so much drama in the end ps5 keep higher resolution ;d (it was bizzare for me the idea that ps5 could struggle with tony hawk)

Yeah to me it sounded like a miscommunication because PS5 can't output native 1440p. But it will render it just fine. And there would be no reason why the pixel count in TH had to be almost twice as high on Series X. Besides, that, I play it on 120hz on PS5 and it looks pretty sharp. Above 1080p at least.

The lastgen nature of cross gen games hinders the performance in nextgen consoles. From what ive seen both series x and ps5 will generally hit the same resolutions and fps when nextgen games start coming out. Therr wont be a difference in res and fps only difference will be in how they push exclusives especially those ssds.

Oh my...

So much to digest with this new info. I purposely stayed out the other Tony Hawk thread.

Seems like all the warring over the 1080p for PS5 was from wrong information.
Guess framerate won't matter for this one

But I'm pretty sure you know what the bigger story was with this game.

I'm a bit confused. So, the devs said the PS5 version would operate at a lower resolution, but this analysis says otherwise..?

That was not the point at all lol
That is the point, people seen to jump into conclusions when series x has a resolution advantage or when ps5 has a res advantage, this are crossgen games well keep having different results in different games only nextgen games will be the benchmarks.

Great very little difference between framerate and resolution between both it's a win win situation.
Well... not counting series S of course.

Sure it's a win for both PS5 and XSX, even though it should be said that PS5 is drawing 15,56% more pixel in Fidelity mode and 17,35% in performance mode(lowest RES), while having a rock solid frame rate, only lower by a microscopic margin if you take an average VS XSX. By the way, great experience on both, everybody is happy.

In one thread when xbox wins cross gen games dont matter in another thread when ps5 wins they matter. That’s how the narrative has been so far
Thats pretty ironic to say since its mostly xbox fanatics who celebrate a higher resolution difference in crossgen games and even digital foundry used hitman 3 and controls photo mode as a benchmark claiming xbox was more powerful. And whenever ps5 has an advantage it suddenly turns to a paradox about tools covid 19 and sorcery.
