So it is just a matter of time before both services die, GamePass will continue alongside games downloads but Streaming is dead in water for Gaming.

Here are 6 Reasons why Streaming is a piece of trash and will never take of:

1. No Ownership of Games (Want a better reason?)

2. Gaming requires input from the user, so far Streaming offers a worst way to play then a dedicated gaming device (Mobile/Pc/Console)

3. Free To Play Dominates a 4 Billion + market in which people have already bought the phones and won´t spend more money of Sub services aside from Disney + or Netflix

4. 300M Console Gamers won´t Switch to Streaming, PS NOW is dead in water, most people there DOWNLOAD GAMES.

5. 1Billion + hardcore Pc Gamers are crazy about their Graphics Cards and 240hz screens, good luck with these, even worst than on Console.

6. Streaming Resolution is pathetic, Gaming requires input and many people play very close to the screen, unlike movies that you can be far away

Subs Services on Gaming won´t work like on TV because it requires user input, no service will ever cross 100M users apart from PS+. the reason PS+ might get there is because SONY forces it on YOU to play ONLINE !

I think xcloud keeps on as a perk for Gamepass. I used it today at work and it is a pretty awesome perk. Being able to access your console on your phone and play is a good experience. I can see using it when I travel or to grab a game of something a lunch. I don't think I would use it for a game I was serious about though. I like the living room for that.

I use Xcloud sometimes when I'm in the car waiting for someone and I have unlimited data for my mobile phone so no problems with that. Xcloud added some touchscreen functions for a handfull of games and I tried Bloodstained with it recently and it works rather well, but I would use it for those simple kinda games to waste some time when waiting. Luna feels like DOA as it doesn't offer anything more then Game Pass and Xcloud which makes it an unbeatable deal. For all other games I wait untill I'm at home and play it on a big screen.

You wish. The future is mostly videogames without any special hardware required.
It's not well suited to fast-paced games but most of them don't require a low latency. I play PES from my phone and it works great

Neither will die. I expect XCloud to win due to the whole Windows / Xbox ecosystem with the games - at least first party - that you can purchase and run everywhere.

What MS needs is more servers but Azure in general is becoming quite good gaming cloud.

I don’t think either will go away. Amazon is willing to play the long game on any tech they create. Microsoft is clearly setting up xcloud for a near future where most everyone in first world countries has 5G access and internet access freed from the retardation of data caps.

I dont think Xcloud is going anywhere because its not the main focus for Xbox, its just another option and way to play, and more options are good for consumers.
And whether people like it or not, streaming is the future, we wont be playing consoles 30 years from now, probably not in 20 years either.

I literally completed TLoU and Uncharted on PS Now for PC. I enjoyed both experiences.

I really dont understand this constant attitude that one medium must go. Whats the issue here, streaming exists, so what?! Along with the traditional gaming! Everyone is catered for!

His favorite console got bad in Control, it's coping. He is the same, who pointed out that "Xbox is readily available in Europe", while listing some obscure shop in Portugal. Some people....are weird.

Luna for sure. Xcloud seems most likely to have some success. If nothing else if they get it working well it’s a cheaper option for core gamers to play Xbox exclusives without buying an Xbox or Gaming PC. Same with Sony games on PS Now if they ever start putting newer releases on there.

I imagine Luna will be like Stadia and struggle to get exclusives that make gamers want to bother with it and I just don’t think there’s a big market of casuals out there who want a Netflix for games. The casual market seems fine with mobile games and maybe Nintendo when they tap into it sometimes with things like the Wii, Switch and games like Mario Kart and Animal Crossing.

But decent cloud gaming could have some appeal for core gamers who want to experience games only sold on platforms they don’t own. Paying a monthly fee here and there to stream the occasional exclusives may have some appeal vs. having to shell out a few hundred for a platform that may not have many exclusives they care to play or have time for.

Whether that’s worth the cost of developing and maintaining those services is hard to say. I don’t see it becoming something that broadens the market for gaming much at all. May just broaden the audience for exclusives some.

Steaming is not viable tech right now, maybe in 10 years, ps now has been around for years, there seem very little interest in it, pc gamers can ps exclusive on it, yet they couldn't care less, think about it ,why would anyone pay $15 a month to stream games lol, they would want the best, i expect xcloud and ps now to carry on slow burn for many years.

once on neogaf it was necessary at least to try to maintain a neutral conduct to avoid a permaban, but now the hatred of some users towards some platforms is so in the light of the sun.

Op the answer you deserve would be:
Sony will likely release all of its titles on pc before one of those platforms fail (expecially xcloud)

what a shame

Well I guess that's it then, this guy has obviously done his homework! 6 bullet points! I'm convinced!

Obviously, Xcloud is less likely to fail than an unknown player in the gaming business. Luna failing would only be slightly more surprising than Stadia failing.

Xcloud has the full backing of Microsoft, Satya knows cloud computing is vital that's why Azure is growing so fast. Cloud gaming is inevitable and will ultimately be the way we all game in the future. It's a long way off mind 10 to 15 years but Xcloud is going nowhere.

Xcloud and Luna next in line.

Luna will be dead before end of the year, XCloud will last more since it has even Sony using it (Azure) and GamePass but it won´t be long.

Streaming isnt going anywhere...the execution has been piss poor on the company’s that have gone balls deep (stadia ect)

I think xcloud will be the last standing

so far xcloud is still technically a beta as it’s still running only a selected amount of games and it’s not it all territories

once it expands into an app that can be used on multiple devices like tvs or via a fire stick it will probably explode as it’s really awesome when it works and people that think streaming won’t take off seem to forget things such as gigabit internet and wireless earbuds were pipe-dreams 10 years ago

xCloud is great for playing in bed while my wife watches her shows and it is too late to go to the basement to play on my man cave TV.

This thread is trying its best to bait console warring after OP’s post from the other thread failed to do so. Luna and XCloud aren’t the only streaming services either in gaming, he conveniently left out one.

Luna, because it doesn't offer local play.

xCloud is an accompaniment to the core Xbox hardware platform. So streaming is an option, and one of many. So like PSNow it'll stick around, because it'll find a niche among the primary console gaming audience and continue serving those consumers that find value in the service. As long as the costs of the services are kept under control, they'll stick around indefinitely.

A streaming only platform is simply a non-starter, and the death of both Onlive and Gaikai should have taught us this.

For now xcloud is only a service for gp users...
And if ownership is so important why so many used games and the comic sketch for used games on Xbox

Shit thread. Shit poll. Shit take. You literally contradict half your own bullet points OP.

xCloud will simply grow YoY and diversify into a multitude of other services for Microsoft's Azure, including gaming and essentially being a baby brother to gaming/remote access services. When tech like quantum internet drops latency issues will be largely resolved, until that tech point in time streaming will be a complimentary service not a wholesale replacement for the gaming masses.
