According to a new leak, the title for The Matrix 4 is allegedly The Matrix Resurrections.

As reported by Yahoo, the title comes via a gift sent to a hairstylist from The Matrix 4, which was a trench coat
featuring The Matrix's iconic digital rain. The hairstylist shared the gift in a now deleted Instagram post, but it was
saved by those like YouTuber NeoMatrixology.

Alongside the trench coat was a letter that reads, "...during these extraordinary times in the making of Matrix Resurrections.
Wir lieben euch, Lana & James." Furthermore, parts of the digital rain on the trench coat also appear to make out the word
resurrections.

The hairstylist mentioned that the gift was from "directors" Lana Wachowski and James McTeigue. However, McTeigue is only
listed as producer on IMDB. While it's important to take these leaks with a grain of salt, the hairstylist in question is in fact listed
as The Matrix 4's Key Hairstylist: Germany.

dunno what to make of that rainbow effect, not sure if want ...

terminal green or scanned print yellows from the theatrical / dvd release tho

Well I can say there is no doubt in my mind this thread will be huge, as it is about the next Matrix Film. And that pivotal film
title... seems to be...

Matrix Resurrections.

I'm just giving myself a chuckle here (heheh) by inferring that, but with that said - it seems they are sticking to using biblical/religious references
and Neo is basically now (who has been resurrected and crucified)

Jesus.

Though I wonder if the story will pick up where it left off.

Human's now allied with the Robots. Technological discoveries that allow for a legitimate resurrection of human society?

A far superior far more powerful Agent Smith, that has reached ASI 10.0 levels of disparity/rampancy - who happens to himself been
resurrected?

Biblical Monologues of Smith vs NEO, where Smith rampantly insinuates he is in fact GOD

and NEO Jesus....

And then a Smith who corrects that implication

"BUT WE ARE NOT GODS YOU AND I, THE ROBOTS ARE - THOUGH - ARENT THEY NEO"

Awwww I can see it now.

I wonder if our favorite characters will be resurrected and brought back by Smith, (and of course, Neo too) but those
resurrected by Smith - highly compromised...

A Scene with NEO both simultaneously fighting Emergent AI Smith as Neo can now Multiply himself AND piloting a Ship towards
Smith's Mainframe in a Kamikaze effort - littered with References of the World Trade Center

New Frontiers of High Technology not yet unveiled to the public, established in this film?

Then the Wachowskis proceed to introduce theirself into the Matrix Narrative.

They Schedule the release of the film to coincide with advanced BCI/Robotic product releases.

They make a VR only variation of this film with full interactivity?

It took the Wachowski's over a decade (12 Years) to finalize the first script for the Matrix.

This script seemingly has taken just as long...

Could be grand...

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Alien 4 Resurrection - Matrix 4 Resurrections. I got a bad feeling about this...
Well, at least this one is being done by the same directors and writers. So, the situation might be a little different.

Also, I think enough time has passed, that they might have some good fresh ideas that were cooking for a while.

Wachowskis haven't really had good output in a long time and the Matrix itself really only had one critically acclaimed entry. Assuming this title is accurate, it sounds like they'll focus even more on the religious symbolism portrayed in Reloaded and Revolutions, which imo was one of the key reasons they were weaker than the first entry.

I remember trying to watch Cloud Atlas on Netflix. At one point I'm like, "damn this movie is long and boring" and turned it off. It was at the half-way point.

It'll be shit. Worse, woke shit.

Matrix 1 was a fluke.
No doubt. First movie was great. Both sequels were terrible. I swear the last movie could be called Mech Shooter: The Game.

Also, Keanu Reaves is in his mid 50s and acts weird, and getting old. We'll see how he fares in a new movie, unless they make him more of an old wise man role. Give him another 5-10 years and he'll be in Harrison Ford territory where every movie he makes is awful and acting skills disappeared.

That's not why they were weaker. The Matrix is so concise... near-perfect. The sequels, especially Reloaded, totally blew up and layered the mythology, and the universe within the story. While some of that was positive, the growth is just too exponential. What was actually very simple became unwieldy. But there's nothing about the religious allegory/subtext specifically that is to blame for those huge, overlong battles in Revolutions -- the Smith fight and the Zion defense. It's just too much, and not interesting.

A friend of a friend auditioned for them, for a part in Reloaded. He told me the story, he said he went in and was giving them all kinds of praise, how he loved The Matrix, how they completely blew Lucas away, how this was the new Star Wars, etc etc... he said their reaction was telling; they were super hesitant. I believe he even said things like "I think we took it too far, it's still coming together, it's very complicated, not sure how it will work"... general stuff like that. So maybe even they knew.

I think as flawed as the sequels are, it's worth it that they exist. The whole arc of Neo is worth it. Reminds me of Godfather, a little bit. I'd rather III exists than not exist to complete Michael's arc, just like I'd rather the flawed sequels exist to see this timeline of Neo's arc finished.

Will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

There's a part in the documentary matrix revisited where one of the wachowskis say that matrix was basically them gathering all the coolest ideas they had throughout their life and putting it together.

After that it was a lot of them grasping at straws
This was always obvious how some shots were directly ripped from various anime. I'm curious what they saw as inspiration in the last 20 years.

Better not be any god damn furries in this movie.

Of course they would call it Resurrections. With the previous sequels having been titled Reloaded and Revolutions, it's about what you would expect for a sequel to a dormant movie franchise.

Still, how are they going to explain Neo and Trinity returning from the dead? I'm also disappointed Neo looks like John Wick. Can they fix that in post?

They probably still exist in The Matrix. Big plot point i bet.

Yeah.... well... that’s a pretty lame subtitle tho! Damn.. also that rainbow matrix thingy effect doesn’t bode well for a lot of people I am afraid.

Glad I stopped giving a fuck after the first movie..

I'm not a fan of The Matrix Reloaded though I admit I enjoyed Revolutions far more.

At what point in the Matrix did Neo in totality Die? He (somehow) regained vision outside of The Matrix - even after having his eyes
synged out and rendered completely blind.

Which brings me to my next point.

The way in which the robot's aided Neo after finishing the battle, and then laid him down at the end of Revolution's implies the Robot's indeed
took a role in nursing Neo back to health, not contrary - though it was not shown.... it was communicated through essentially Robot empathy and
affection shown to Neo after having defeated Smith.

And if Neo was in fact, strong enough IRL/outside The Matrix to regain vision somehow - then some little scrap up/fight in The Matrix/BCI verse wouldn't
render Neo Dead.

It in fact does not make sense for any of the others who were near mortally injured during that particular event to have outright died, specifically if you look
at the technology in play which they would have immediately gained access to through rekindling an alliance with "The Machines"

Though the ending was this dreamy mess of "afterlife" semblance - I don't think they really meant to communicate that in the scheme of things.

It is more rational to believe they inferred a Flourishing Technological Matrix Utopia aided by our re-alliance with robots/machines, an alliance able to resurrect AI's of
the past ect, due to the re-marriage/reunion of Man and Machine.

They are "Our Children" after all.

I hate to be a downer but i thought the site was on life support the moment they decided to make a sequel.

I don't think I'll watch this.

Did enjoy Enter the Matrix though.. maybe we'll get a fun spin off game

This movie is going to be to leather outfits what the fem Ghostbusters was to nostalgia. Eeeek.

I look forward to enjoying the reviews of this train wreck. Especially them trying to take red pill back. Should be a hoot.

Not as bad. But she's old. They both are.

This Photo of Neo an Trinity implies a myriad of concepts, and is misleading.

If Neo and Trinity survived which I'm left to assume they did, why would they need footage of their older selves at all?

They are living in a Machine Aided Utopia, Where Neo won, so machines would be vested in Helping Neo survive after his fight with Smith
and that is an era where age should be a non issue solved by our own technological prowess even if not aided by the machines.

This photo implies the rational that Neo and Trinity were fooled into believing the first 3 films were in fact reality - but weren't - that they "wake up"
after living this life - inside "The Matrix" that may have never existed.

Which implies the audience has been subjugated to this grand illusion - or they have been living inside The Matrix, aging.... which clearly makes no sense.

The last option is, a Matrix Multiverse - which also does not help with the narrative.

It is likely we are in fact seeing the "Older Neo, Older Trinity" because they woke up - and realized everything they experienced 'Inside The Matrix/IRL Machine World'
was actually a grand illusion - which implies they are racing towards another illusion of sorts.... as the try to unravel the reality of the situation.

Or another option I suppose would be, the machines or agent smith - finally recaptured Neo and crew - wiped their minds... and let them age?
This break's immersion for the entire narrative unfortunately.

And yes I assume special effects will make "Old Neo/Wrinkly Pucker Faced Trinity" a minor blip quickly glossed over by digital artistry.

has there been any reboot/sequel/prequel/remake or whatever in the last 10 years that has been as good as the original? i cant think of any

Blade runner was just ok and thats the best i can think of
