I really love the way Microsoft style of acquisition. The more the merrier.
Square Enix and Ubisoft next.
Square Enix and Ubisoft next.
Microsoft at least will release all of their games simultaneously on PC(The most important thing ever)1. Timed exclusives: platform holder pays publisher to delay game on competing platforms.
End result: competing platforms get the game later.
2. Massive third party publisher buyout: all IPs from publisher become exclusive to one platform holder.
End result: competing platforms will never see those IPs again.
People really have to be stupid to believe that alternative 2 is somehow better for consumers.
what about paid exclusives that Sony does? street fighter? stuff like that1. Timed exclusives: platform holder pays publisher to delay game on competing platforms.

Were you mad when Sony bought Insomniac?1. Timed exclusives: platform holder pays publisher to delay game on competing platforms.

It's strange people still think this is about selling more consoles than Sony, it isn't!Call of duty is the only thing I think could make a real difference.
One game compared to whole publisher. Yeah, right!what about paid exclusives that Sony does? street fighter? stuff like that
the First is 70 euro for each game the second is a reasonable 15 euro monthly for 282+ games and all the future games from acquisitions1. Timed exclusives: platform holder pays publisher to delay game on competing platforms.

Would be cool if they used their money to actually build and enhance their own studios so we get more games. Seems all they are is paying bilions of money to just keep PS owners from games.
As someone who has a PC, this is a waste to me since I’d be getting these games anyway.
Only SEGA and Nintendo did that, those days are gonePathetic. Use your billions to build your own studios you lazy fucks.
How's it pathetic? i imagine there's a helluva lot goes into starting up a game studio from scratch then waiting 4-5years to see if you're gonna get a ROI, smart move is to buy an established player and its IP's. Xbox snaggin Bethesda really done my head in as a Sony fan, that means my favourite series is now locked behind Gamepass and will require me to purchase another console just to play it, something i simply wont do, i don't game enough to get value from an additional console so now i gotta sit out a next gen Elder Scrolls & Starfield.. cunts lol, now they're on the prowl again.. this has me worried i may lose another franchise ffs but I'm not going to diss MS for simply beefing up their cataloguePathetic. Use your billions to build your own studios you lazy fucks.
That's not what makes Xbox fanboys happy.MS was already going to get all the Bethesda games anyway on Xbox -- unless Sony funded a Bethesda game which was extremely unlikely. Now, nothing has changed for MS, but Xbox fans are rejoicing after MS acquired Bethesda. They will still get the same games. The only difference is that PS owners won't get those games, and that's what makes Xbox fanboys happy. It's pathetic.
If Sony could they would so either way. "Why buy an Xbox when all they have is Forza, Halo, and Gears?" MS is changing that, big time, and now people are kicking and screaming. Laugh at Xbox and now that Phil is getting serious people lose their minds. It may suck for people who want to be PS only but it's business.
it takes 15 years to grow studios capable of supporting gamepass. do not be ridiculousExactly. Apparently this is too hard for some people to understand. Instead of being excited about the games they get to play, they are more interested in seeing MS locking content from PlayStation.

Instead, MS should have focused on creating new studios, new jobs, and new games for Xbox, and growing the gaming industry. That'd have been in addition to Bethesda titles that were going to be released on Xbox anyway. And that'd mean Xbox users would have gotten a lot more games.
Another joke post, keep them coming giving me a right laugh this morning lolThis shows again how much trust they have in their own studios, close to zero. And unfortunately some of the studios they bought were not the same they have been before. For example Rare, which is only a shadow of itself.
I am still surprised why they still manufacture consoles. They make their money through game pass and don't care of players play on XBOX or PC. So why not just went back to be a pure software company and sell the game pass.

You can now but back in the day Sony paid so they couldn’t be on any other console. Just befor the start of this gen there was a post about news of Sony trying to money hat a load of games for exclusivity to PlayStation and it was applauded by all Sony fans here. Now Microsoft doing their thing they get lambasted as usualYou can play them on your Xbox. Almost all of FFs ( sonner or later FF XVI) Ridge Racer Unbound and who knows how many Tekkens. Yeah, right
Naughty DogPathetic. Use your billions to build your own studios you lazy fucks.

Some games, not every IP from one developer
Timed exclusives. TIMED. That huge difference compared to buying a publisher. If you don't understand that difference, you have a problem

Monopolies are very pro consumer.I've never seen so many consumers rejoicing on the rise of a monopoly.
You're like lemmings jumping off the cliff.
Yeah, there's always these bullshit false equivalencies when this happens. When MS bought Zenimax I even read a non-zero number of people saying that it was equivalent to the Spider-Man in Avengers exclusive character.
I had no problem with MS buying smaller companies who were obviously in poor financial shape, like Ninja Theory, Obsidian or inXile. But buying mega-publishers is a fucking awful precedent and will A) make things worse for a large part of the industry, and B) possibly encourage other publishers to do the same, which means we end up with accelerated industry consolidation.
Bye bye.So basically a Twitter rando, just on another form of social media.
Bad site writes bad rumormongering article because MATT said so, and people start chugging that koolaid. This kind of stuff is getting hilarious.
I'm outta here, have fun
No one is going to buy a manga publisher to own fromsoftimagine if it's from software
fucking imagine it
Yeah Sony buy studios to, they bought insomniacSome games, not every IP from one developer

Something I just thought of, what if they are doing it to make sure Amazon and Google don't? I know who I'd want to win that bidding war. A streaming only service or a console/pc/mobile service? Xbox over Stadia and Luna all the way.
Imagine if this was a MS/Sony merger. That would be sick and Amazon and Google can get fucked at that point.
