The transitioning from xbox one to xbox series x/s is truly an unsung experience

Its literally the best plug and play experience coming from xbox one to xbox series x/s. Just sign in and everything is there. whatever you already have downloaded on your external hard drive just works flawlessly. You don't have to worry about saves, change settings, or anything it just works. In addition to how snappy everything is you really can't go back after experiencing this.

It just works, you say?

Jokes aside. I agree. Seen it in action and it's just...seamless. Now, compare it to Sony, where you either manually download the save or you download the game, open it,realise you didn't download this particular save, tuen off the game, copy save, start over

Amen.

I’ve been playing home consoles since before the Atari 2600 and the move from Xbone to Series X has been the sweetest console migration process ever.

Yeah, the way it tells you to use the xbox app to finish the install, and then everything is set to go was pretty cool.

Yes its very good, sort of reminds me of upgrading a Samsung phone nowadays, super easy.

Yes it is a very easy transition. You cannot buy Xbox X/S so you stay with Xbox One. You don't have to worry about saves, change settings, or anything it just works since this is still your old Xbox One.

Sorry, just jaded - looks like starting with the Switch it is impossible to buy a console or a new video card for at least a year or a year and a half after it is supposedly out.

if you are connected to internet (and you should/must) yes, it is amazing how easy it is.

when i got my seriesX (day 1) live servers had issues for a couple of hours and i had to just turn it off and wait. after that it was great

It was like when you upgrade from one iPhone to another and you just choose a backup, wait a bit and everything is just back where it should be, absolutely magical.

It was also great to just plug the external HDD I was using for the one X into the SX and just see games pop up immediately, ready to be played or copied to the internal drive.

I appreciate them putting so much effort into a process you run once (or twice if there is mid gen refresh) every generation basically.

I managed to get a Series X last week after weeks of trying and I mentioned in the Xbox thread that the transition to the new console is so simple and absolutely seamless. One of reasons people like to game on consoles rather than PC.

User experience is ideal. It took me only a few minutes to start my Series X, I plugged my external drive and continued playing the games I had on Xbox One X.

Since I carried all my games, and still have a lot to play, I am not in a rush for new games. The upgrade was awesome for Sekiro (60fps, super short loadings).

Are you saying having to download the last gen version of a game on an already small ssd, boot it up once, click an upload save button, delete it, download the next gen version (get the last gen with out noticing), try again, and finally start the next gen version with your save is a needlessly stupid process?

I wish I could upgrade, but I want to trade-in at Gamestop and there’s just no consoles available, plus I’d have to move to the city to go to a Gamestop and it’s currently not possible because of COVID measures.

Yeah but on the other side there isn’t anything WOW about getting one. It’s like getting a upgraded Xbox one which it is and that is okay ,but they really needed a showcase game that could only run on series consoles.

Yah it's pretty funny how I brought home the box, told my six year old son let's set it up. A few single digit minutes later we were up and running playing our favorite split screen games. We both had a nice grin on our faces when playing Halo MCC, because it finally felt smooth instead of sluggish in splitscreen co-op.

Funny thing, there's a simple top-down 2D game called "Sparkle 2" that I had on an external drive that stopped working because it had updated itself with a XS patch and had to be installed to the internal drive to work. I can't see any possible reason for why the developer did that, at least visually and speed-wise.. It's just a couple of hundred MBs, so it's not a big deal, just funny.

Great experience.
Only thing ruining it for me is my Steelseries Arctis headphones constantly cutting out, disconnecting, mic issues, etc... I'm constantly holding the power button on and off (hard press for a full 3 seconds, doesn't always register) to troubleshoot it. Great features and sound quality but shit headphones. Don't recommend.

You must've had one hell of a XOne.. I for one am reminded every single time I use the menus and there's no lag, not the least I'm reminded when I boot a game/use quick resume. And also every single time I don't hear it, lol.

Well, I never hear any of my consoles anyway since my consoles are in a seperate closet than the rest of my media room.

I guess I dont spend enough time on it. All I really do is look through GamePass games, but never decide on anything I see I haven't already played either on Xbox One or other consoles.

I don't have any games to play on the thing. Maybe once it gets some exclusives I can appreciate the differences, but until that time I'll stick with PS5 and Switch.

It also feels like you never bought a new console witch is not good, I often forget I am playing on series X since the experience is 99% the same as on Xbox One X.

Here’s an idea.

Why don’t you just sell it? All you do is flood this forum with how rubbish you think it, and anything related to MS, is.

That’ll then leave less shit for us to wade through, and you might be happier too. Win-win!

Nah, I'll keep it. And when the games come, I'll be right here excited about them just like everyone else. Until then, I'll give my honest opinion, just like I do about all things videogames.

A 6 year old playing halo... Seems like the ESRB has no influence whatsoever.

Is it the same UI? I have a PS5 and the experience is practically the same because we don't have any games either, just a remake of a PS3 game lmao. But at least the UI is different and makes you feel it is a new console and a new experience.

I like to think I'm a nice guy but you're being disingenuous and arguably very unfair. I take no issue with you preferring PS5 over Xbox (game on!) but to say the Xbox has no games but PS5 does is just odd. Both are necessarily reliant on older titles right now with a few new ones thrown into the mix. At least with Xbox, you don't have to pay as much to access them (e.g. Gamepass).

Switch is fair game but I'm not seeing a lot of new titles for that console either. Which ones are you playing?

I didn't know what I was in for, I spent all of this time trying to figure out how to back shit up, looking for cables if I had to perhaps link the two systems..
and then when I actually did It I pulled up the app, let it download some stuff and I was good to go.

I was with you until the game pass part. I believe sony answered right with 20 free games which should last a decent amount of time until some new games come out. I already finished God of War and I'm currently playing HZD, after that I have RE VII, Persona 5, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy XV, etc to play. Of course that if you already played those games then you won't care, but the same can be said about gamepass right now with no new games on the horizon for Xbox One or Series X.

The upgrade for me was so easy. I never thought I'd enjoy Quick Resume, but jumping from GoW 5 to Fallen Order to Skyrim takes seconds.

So happy all my saves and screenshots came. Only thing I had to do was download all games again, but it was fun to know they'd all be improved in one way or another.

First game I tested was Tennis in the Face 😄

Pre-installed The Medium so I can finally get a small taste of next-gen.

Is the horizon less than a week away?

On topic everything about setting up the Series X was elegant. Right from the moment you open the box and it’s sitting there on top of its throne (that packaging is really remarkable) right up to seeing your gamertag sign in.

You can tell they put a lot of thought into making it as easy as possible.

Yes, microsoft are software guys... Sony is a mess when it comes tu that kind of stuff. Which makes it even more baffling how could Sony take the time to make a new UI and Microsoft couldn't.

Microsoft revamps the Xbox UI multiple times during each console's life cycle.

Changing the UI for change sake is not always a good thing, especially if features are thrown out the window.

MS refreshes the UI multiple times during a generation so it’s not really a concern that they decided to launch with the current one right now, because we know it will be updated and changed over time.

It's a concern because you don't have anything to make you feel you just bought a new console. Where's the next gen experience? Certainly not on games.
