Dirt 5 | 2.00 Patch Comparison PS5 Vs Xbox Series X/S

I am surprised they beat the other guys to the punch, considering the recent patch has caused quite a stir. Is there any sort of summary/data or just footage?

edit: looks like there are some slides at the end with resolution ranges?

It looks like some of the reflections are missing on the PS5 version? I'll be the first to say this title is not an indication of the power of the PS5 and any differences are certainly just a mistake or something. Both systems are good.

Another patch comparison

Hmm interesting if the reflection is absent on the ps5. But at the same time if u look at the tracks on some scenes its showing that the ps5 has the better lighting amd textures but still could be time of day or still needs fixing. Expecially if u look at the ice track on SS u can seenthe constant shimmer at the background

When did this patch go live? Not up for me on ps5 yet šŸ¤”

It's not absent, lights can clearly be seen reflecting on glass/plastic. Personal preference here, series s/x far too shiny and not very realistic looking.

In game, seems like every version has PS5 level's of reflections, so I guess it was decided to give the xbox the extra pop in the garage scenes. Hopefully they patch it out of the xbox, rather than patching it in to the playstation version

Think I am gonna wait for one of the big boys to cover this more in depth. No disrespect to anyone's keen eyes in here, just not sure this is the most effective analysis vid out there.

Textures on the road on that dirt track on PS5 on FPS mode still look better. Other than that looks pretty similar. So far.

Edit: damn FPS mode looks like shit on Series S. A better looking shit on the X a bit better looking shit on PS5.

Edit 2: still saw tearing on the SX version here and there, on intro scenes. Overall it looks 99% identical to PS5 though, so good for the X owners. It's almost as good as PS5 now, at release it looked so bad in comparison

I play around 5 hours of DIRT on XSX and I feel it's solid, I also did not see any tearing. Truth to be told, I have VRR turned on in this game, so... It plays great, but it's too simplistic. I think Codemasters Cheshire did better job with onRush...
Think it's VRS doing this?
Would be badly implemented than, if this would be VRS doing stuff.

From the video creator :

- I have restarted the game every time I changed the display mode to avoid possible errors.

-The ambient occlusion in PS5 seems somewhat more noticeable/better in some points such as vegetation.

- Higher resolution of textures on PS5.

- Now vegetation is only affected in S Series depending on the display mode.

I guess full rdna2 can't keep up šŸ˜ŒšŸ˜…

Just curious do you think that this game taking advantage of full RDNA 2?

just with that quip at the end

It's been confirmed that it uses vrs (a disgusting feature that makes game look horrible and out of focus but somehow it's a pr word now )

But my comment was not that serious as they look very close tbh that no one should care really

Useless comparison, we need 300x zoom on textures we will only see if we stop and lose the race and a fps graph so we can spot the 2 missing frames on the first turn on that snow track, nobody can choose what to buy from this pfff

/s

They all look identical to me. If they all run like the XSX version as well then good job Codies! šŸ‘

That's not how it works, dingleberry šŸ˜‚

Tell us how it works then. Ad hominem is for posters who cannot discuss and are normally a bit daft or not the sharpest pencils in the box.

Impress us, now is your chance and we are waiting.

You can start with pervasive fine clock gating and go on from there.

Lookie, it's the man that said x couldn't do high rest textures in performance mode, because they designed it to be a server instead of a console, then they patched in the high rest textures and his day was ruined šŸ˜‚

Show the receipt as I ain't seeing it, quite the opposite in fact.

It was the white sand closer to the middle of the video I think.
Edit: looks like 11:56 mark. Whatever that is toward the bottom of the screen.

I did not say that - you made that up.

You are trying to change the topic as you have no idea what your talking about.

Explain your 2,23 Ghz comment. I believe you cannot, that is why I am asking ?

I've explained that many times, go through my posts and knock yourself out. And you literally said it was designed like a server and then you probably had a cry when you the textures were patched in and everyone had a good laugh

Pervasive fine clock gating is very likely in both consoles. It's one of the big reasons that RDNA2 gets the ~50% generational performance-per-Watt improvement over RDNA1. It's very unlikely that either GPU does not have it, considering the power draw that has been tested on both.

But they didn't, it's like you don't have eyes.

Folliage matches and geometry appear to match with the untrained eye, textures certainly do not, and there's no indication yet of the performance hit, if there is one, which with increased details you'd imagine there would be.

This?

Lighting and reflections far better so didn't notice the sand, although now you've pointed it out, it's clearly far better on PS5 also. Series X seems to have less tessellation, I guess as there are less rocks on the puddle on the left hand side (although some of these appear to be there just not lit properly, some are also clearly missing), AF also noticeably worse still.

Not even sure where you are looking to claim it's better on series x

I've highlight some areas where the difference is stark.

I suspect it's mostly down to the inferior lighting on Series X, but the front highlighted section is not as detailed on series x and appears flat, maybe a lack of bump mapping and lower tessellation being applied. Probs need NX Gamer to throw his expertise at it, the guy that did this video, usually does it first which is good, but doesn't really know what he's talking about and doesn't line up his shots so they are like for like, each side by side is slightly offset from the one next to it.

loosk like patches can't fix full rdna2

Design inferior products, get less sales and worse versions of games. Shocking.

Microsoft is a Software Company, not hardware so i never expect their HW to be comparable to the competition (Apple, Sony etc.)

Runs at locked 60fps 99.9% of the time on XSX. Iā€™ve seen some drops for like a second or two in the first crowded turn on some snow tracks, but thatā€™s it.

Iā€™m sure fans will keep on argueing where people should play it, and DF/NX dissecting it further might get Codemasters to do more patches but personally I hope they leave it alone now. Lower resolution textures canā€™t be noticed anyway when youā€™re driving so if thatā€™s the penalty for having rocksolid performance then Iā€™ll gladly take it. The game feels super solid now, plays great, itā€™s like a beautiful mix of Sega Rally, Rallisport Challenge and Motorstorm (sprint races can go to hell though).
People should really spend more time playing it than just talking about these tiny differences. Itā€™s a solid arcade rally game which we really donā€™t get much of these days.

Edit: No wonder weā€™ve seen no performance test yet, I just read this comment about the patched PS5 version...
ā€completely broke the game with the latest patch update on ps5. The game runs like absolute shit now and I haven't even played it since the update as it's virtually unplayable. The stuttering mess on every single race is atrocious it was fine before the update and was smooth with the occasional dip in heavy traffic but it's just shit now.ā€

Iā€™ve seen similar comments here so even though I suspect this is slightly hyperbolic we should expect PS5 to receive more patches, canā€™t leave it like that.
