I would say yes. I want Ghosts to win, but I still really enjoyed TLoU 2. My top 5 would look like this:

Ghosts Of Tsushima
Streets Of Rage
The Last Of Us Part 2
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
Doom Eternal

Streets of Rage turning out as awesome as it did makes me annoyed that I never bought it when it was available on limited run

I've said it but I can say it again.

Me personally enjoyed the gameplay, heck I enjoyed even Abigail's storyline as standalone.

I just fucking hate all virtual signalling agenda in this game and Druckmann' ignorance and narcissism.

He could have just faced the criticism and stated his vision with a more sincere attitude.

I think the game is a good one, but Druckmann does not deserve the award.

Haters can get fucked. Tlou2 was an mgs2 level event in videogame storytelling. Its not a perfect game by any means and has serious pacing issues. But it actually tries to do something narratively creative to make the player give a damn.

To say nothing of the fact that, you know, its the best looking console game on 7 year old hardware.

It has good gameplay.

Too bad the blatant SJW stuff caused controversy (and story stuff which won't go into for spoilers).

Hope they can carry that gameplay feeling into the Multiplayer.

It was mostly made by SJWs with clown world political views, and some of that (not a lot) bled into the game. It’s also the best game of 2020 by a wide margin, and probably the best game of the generation. Credit where credit’s due.

It’s objectively and technically an amazing accomplishment.

Huuuuge surprise!!!!

After everything surrounding this game there was literally 0% chance that the media wouldn't all unanimously vote for this game and laura bailey to win.

Not in my top 3 for GOTY (that's 13 Sentinels, Spiritfarer, and Hades), but I guess it deserves it.

Glaring narrative issues aside, it was a fantastic game to play. Very, very fun experience!

NOOOOOOOOO BUT THEY KILLED MY BOY.

Very much deserved. Animal Crossing was my surprise feelgood hit of the year, but TLOU2 is just on a whole other level.

Barring a late charge from Cyberpunk, it'll be my GOTY as well.

I enjoyed hades and ff7 remake significantly more.

But It's a good game, so can't be too upset about it.

What would you highlight as narratively creative in the game?

It’s a fantastic game with an okayish story. I would have gone with FFRemake but that’s bc I love FF7. Crash 4 was also a strong contender.
