Assassin's Creed Valhalla: PS5 vs Xbox Series X Graphics Comparison

we also need to bare in mind that xbox dev tools appear to be behind when compared to sonys
Where is this coming from all of a sudden. Ms developed Direct X, you think they'll concede the software crown? It is so convenient to say MS is a software company at times......its OS has this feature and that feature, but when it fails on something, somehow their software is not ready conveniently. Both of these machines are new, more devs are familiar with MS's API than Sony's....They need to get better acquainted with Sony's API, tools and hardware efficiencies even more so, because that console has a more unique design.

Been playing both series x version and ps5
There is definitely a noticeable difference in the series x version...I’m running them both on a lg oled and the series x is much smoother and much clearer than the ps5 and I suspect the comparisons will show

there is also tearing on both versions

Lol I thought I was the only one dumb enough to buy multiple version of the same games to compare them.

Thanks!

I was thinking about doing the same once I'll pick up my PS5 later today.

I may not after all

It should be 60fps on PS5. The devs announced it. And if you see tearing even on XSX it means there is no VRR in this game so both versions should be as smooth. Maybe Ubisoft didn't patch the game yet on PS5 somehow?

There are no tearing on Series X with VRR capable tv. Never seen any on my LG CX. You gotta make sure it's acticated in the Xbox interface though.

Nope. I did this quite a lot in the 360/ps3 days, truth be told I still do it now.. :/

I doubt I will with these new consoles. Anything multiplat i'll use the Series X.

..I just need a Ps5 mind you.

What videos? You mean the ones with tearing on the Xbox one and one x versions but completely tear free locked 30fps on series S and locked 60fps on Series X? What videos are you talking about with tearing on the Series S/X versions?
are you blind? or do you have VRR shades?

like I’ve already pointed out twice, like the video shows, the longer initial load time is because the Xbox version has 3 more unskippable company and engine logos than it does on the ps5.
Still faster...

spider man is a cross generation game too remember lol. And sack boy.
Well glad you've seen it. Impresive huh? What next gen game does the Series x have?

From the Valhalla thread

Hmm ?
Looks like 2tflops, huge memory bandwidth advantage for the video memory and a faster CPU were important after all.

Can't wait to see what those RDNA2 performance saving features add to the mix.

He corrected that due to a faulty hdmi cable... maybe try again with the fud?

Found the culprit....hdmi cable was faulty...swapped it with my xbox one and no more juddering

weird...normally u would just get no signal if the hdmi cAble was bad but it still worked and made it look and run like crap

I’m happy now

There is also screen tearing on PS5, as this vid shows, check the section at 0:32 - 0:38

Both XSX and PS5 seem fine for most of the gameplay though.

the PS5 version totally skips the splash screens though. is that really how it is? because thats cool if there are no splash screens.

they are the same speed when fast traveling.

Disappointing, clearly still a last gen game in code.

We need ganes properly coded for this new hardware.

All these long screens designed to hide loading on last gen aren't needed.

We've seen whats possible on ps5 and even series x and waiting this long still is not a good reflection on the devs.

I'd expect ps5 to be 2-4 seconds and xbox 6-10.

Let's see more comparisons.

We know kena says 2 seconds, nba2k 2 seconds, spiderman under 2 sometimes 1.3. Etc etc.

Seems like both consoles are loading a save from the cloud?

Lol it took me 1m 6s to get into the game on PC on a super shitty sata ssd with no cache either. Notbad.jpg

Any dev worth their weight in gummy bears would be loading the game while those splash screen were being shown. Not saying this team have but still...

He also mentions that the PS5 recognized his save game from the XSX version, and he could load it on PS5. Pretty interesting.

That is where I saw tearing.
The TOP part of the screen not match the lower part of the screen generating a single big tearing.

That whole place had massive framerate drops on pc with vsync for me. For some strange reason it got better after a few days. Wonder if there was a hotfix I missed.

Which one do you have? Since it seems the common models of LG, Samsung and Sony alle have HDMI2.1 issues in different areas. LG and Samsung have issues with VRR, Sony has issues with 4k/120Hz signal (which seems to be the only output the PS5 gives you, but i cannot check that yet since i live, next week the earliest) and has no VRR functionality unlocked yet.

I can't output 4k/60hz? That's bad news for my XH90.

I´m not sure about that, only screenshots from other online forums i saw had the output to 120Hz, and said it cannot be changed. But i would assume as soon as you switch the HDMI port to the standard or dolby vision it should register it and put out a different signal - it just seems as of now that you cannot switch the output signal on the console.

As i said, i cannot check that due to the lack of a console and this is NOT A FACT OR ANYTHING!!!! its just what i came across so far the last couple hours.

Bruh, the controller is getting praised left and right, more so than the console itself.
You're so blinded by your obvious fanboyism that you can't accept that some of the features are truly revolutionary and not "gimmicks". Don't even get me started on that stick placement.

Same design on that xbox controller for 10 years. Smh.
There's a reason 3rd party controllers take after the Xbox controller. Ergonomically it's superior.. Only interesting thing about the PlayStation controller is the triggers and I'd be curious to see how long the life span is on them.. No doubt it is a step up from PlayStation 4s controller.. I'm overall keen to try it out.

Hasn't changed in 10 years... What?, Now who's the fanboy..

And yes stick placement is terrible, after a good gaming session I play my hands feel as if they've turned into a 90 year Olds..

Can you show any source for that "ergonomically superior"?

The Xbox controller changed dramatically inside of the last gen alone, lol. Mic Jack, Bluetooth, textured grip, improved Bumpers, new front face. What a weird argument that guy was making.

Unless you have thumbs pointing backwards I think it's safe to say joystick placement is where your thumbs naturally settle. I realise you sleep with your PlayStation products buddy but you can let your fanboyism go on this one..

Can you tell me why third parties copy the Xbox controller design?.

Especially when he's comparing a 360 controller to the x1.. Blind fanboyism is a strange beast..

Again...

Where is the source for that?

Because my thumbs are symmetrical and naturally settle best on any symmetrical controller.
It really felt awkward using asymmetrical controllers due the more use of symmetrical but to tell one is better that other it just if your thumbs are not right.

Can you tell me why third parties copy the Xbox controller design?.
Are you sure about that?

You know just a very few examples in the order it come from Google Shopping.

Not this stupid argument again. So if the left stick on the xbox controller is correct because it's in the ergonomic position, why isn't the right stick in the same position?

The left stick tends to control movement, which is primarily forward and backwards, thus the higher position where the up and back movement is more natural for the thumb. The right stick tends to control camera movement, which is more primarily left/right, and so it is positioned where left/right movement is more natural. The Sticks do different things, so the sticks are in different places. Everyone but Sony has admitted this.

Because a multiplatform ubisoft game is definately the BEST comparison of power between 2 systems of any generation. GTFO

Because the buttons are there. Unless you are playing a shooter, those are the primary control surfaces you're using.

Also, I don't have a horse in this race and don't really care. Just thought I'd point out the reason.

Another low effort Ubisoft port.

It's great that you don't have much reason to be concerned no matter which version you wanna play. But overall both this and Watchdogs to me are just unacceptable from a graphics standpoint.

If Bluepoint Games with their comparatively tiny studio could make Demon's Souls Remake look so fucking next-gen, why can't Ubisoft with their gazillion-person studios make games that even compare to the best looking last-gen games? We shouldn't keep giving them a free pass on this.

Sorry guys, but a 1min load time is not really testing the SSD. 10GB of data should take a few seconds. This is more of a SW optimization test.

Both look great, just need to patch the screentearing I keep seeing on videos covering this game.

I am really curious what TVs they are using (or capture cards) that is causing the tearing. I have not had any yet (XsX, 4k 60 TV) but I have seen it in almost every video I have watched online.

Most of those controllers look like an Xbox controller with PlayStation stick placement. There's even one with the Xbox placement. There's a reason the PS5 dualsense is looking closer to an Xbox controller than PS4 shape wise..

Also I never said there weren't third party controllers for Sony consoles however I actually had a search for some once I read your reply and it's funny how allot of them have changed the stick location to a Xbox style..

When it comes down to it preference does come into play here but doesn't seeing the majority of new controllers coming out these days mimicking the Xbox make you think at all?.

These are not 3rd parties for Sony consoles but for PC.

3rd party controller on Sony consoles needs some certification that is not that easy to get... so there is very few options and some of them are asymmetrical.

Same case there is symmetrical controller for Xbox.

You have to take into account the overall design of the remote, stick placement is just one aspect of why it is liked so much..

For sure I don't dispute that there are symmetrical 3rd party remotes for the Xbox.. tbh I find the dualshock fine for 3rd person games and fighting games but when it comes to first person shooters I struggle with it..
