I mean, they could do 2 versions of the game like Fifa or Shadow of Mordor and sell to the older gen but their strategy is not to.

At least from the videos it doesn't seem that Spider-man could run on the PS4. Maybe Pro but not base.

I guess it depends if the short trailer they showed is anything close to actual gameplay or not. Considering Imsomniac doesn't seem to over promise I think that's how the game will look.

Would it be possible to release the game in PS4 with compromises? Of course but why compromise? If anything it would be in Sony/Disney's best interest to tap onto 100 million potential buyers. Not so good for gamers that are eager for Next-gen. Specially people like myself who didn't pick up a Pro.

I still don't get why any gamer would be okay with not having any next gen exclusives for 2 freakin' years. Maybe, Sony's exclusives won't push the ps5 to its limits in the first 2 years, but there IS at least a chance that there will be jaw dropping next gen experiences early on. This is why there's excitement whenever Sony shows something. MS approach to next gen is downright boring and they're taking the whole next gen thrill away from us. I mean how exciting are we supposed to get about next gen when we know for a fact that anything coming out of a MS studio for the next 2 years could have been an Xbox One game, minus the 4k and 120fps.

I've already said I'm not cool with it and won't be buying a PS5 so I'm gucci.

I'm still very much a firm believer that hard generation breaks is the way forward.

People have complained about gaming getting stagnant and there being a lack of innovation in the AAA space for a while, it's only about to get worse.

Horizon 2, Spiderman MM and even Sackboy are going PS4. Don't be surprised if more do. Given that their track record is now 2 months before launch spilling the beans on whether a game is PS4 cross gen or PS5, you should wait till a game gets close to launch to see if Sony says a game is actually PS4.

Crazy how things turned out. Fable, Everwild, Forza, Halo and so on may be so far away that they could release as next gen only. Microsoft already did half a 180 stating, that next gen comes first and ports are up to the developers

It also depends what kind of sacrifices they do to port the game to PS4, ports don't have to be 100% equal at all levels except graphics.
