Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Official Trailer

Not surprising that there's no thread for this yet. I'm guessing most people have given up on DSC. I didn't even watch any of season 2, based on the bad word of mouth. I'll check out CBS All Access again later this year for The Stand, and might give DSC another shot then.

Video is not available?

(actually I enjoyed DSC for that it was, even if I don't consider it being Trek. Neither is Picard, though.)

STD just isn't real Star Trek. The sooner this miserable show and the awful, talentless hacks behind it get shut down the better.
I thought the first half of Discovery season 1 was decent. First new Trek in forever, felt brisk and relatively fun, but then the novelty wore off, and then the last handful of episodes of season 1 were legitimately awful. I'm holding out hope that Strange New Worlds ends up being good, given that the creators are actually acknowledging some of the mistakes of Nu Trek and listening to fans.

Video is not available?
It's working for me in the US, and seems to be working for others here. It should be easy to find on YouTube, though.

Okay, watched the trailer.
Definitely has potential.

Will watch.

( I am more interested in Strange New Worlds, though)

That moment when Michael screams “YES” in joy filled my heart with happiness, for she knows with certainty that the sacrifice the red angel made was not in vain. I love this show so much, and can’t wait to see more of it, as well as more of her brother on Strange New Worlds when that comes out.

Never understood why they regionlock trailers..

After watching it with the VPN on, yeah, I will watch.

Don't get the hate, it's a decent friday night series to watch, with a cold brewskie and some snacks.

I guess it depends if you are into (more) classic Trek, or not.
If you can switch that off in your mind, it's an enjoyable experience, imo.

I have seen almost everything Trek wise (apart from Voyager, which I hate), but I can live with this.
Picard on the other is really hard for me, since it shits so much on the TNG era it's not even funny.

STD is an appropriate acronym, a pervasive uncurable insult to Star Trek which in normal world should have been cancelled a long time ago. Unfortunately we raised a generation of JJ Abrams directors who value EMOTION and FEELINGS over good plot and themes and prey upon people's basic understanding of the story.

Can't they understand that there is not a single genuinely likeable character on the show, especially the main lead?
This filth will continue to destroy the last remainder of Star Trek goodwill.

Lorca was fine, as is Stamets and "that fat ginger bird".
They should delve a bit more into the secondary crew characters, imo.

Londo and G'Kar's performances are too iconic for a remake

Man, every new Star Trek just makes Voyager seem better and better. It went from the worst ST series, to middle of the pack now, all by these shit shows constantly lowering the bar further and further. I mean they somehow ruined Picard. How the F do you do that?

For some reason I thought S1 and 2 were ok.
Nothing great but the production values are nice and it's some dumb fun for when I get home and just want to relax watching something light while eating dinner or something.
It's also so woke it's almost funny.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Um so the plot of Season 3 is a straight rip off from Andromeda?

Andromeda
(formally titled Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda) is a Canadian/American science fiction television series, based on unused material by Gene Roddenberry, developed by Robert Hewitt Wolfe, and produced by Roddenberry's widow, Majel Barrett.[2] It starred Kevin Sorbo as High Guard Captain Dylan Hunt. The series premiered on October 2, 2000, and ended on May 13, 2005.

Thousands of years in the future, the Systems Commonwealth is a constitutional monarchy based in a distant star system called Tarn-Vedra. Mankind is a part of The Commonwealth. The Commonwealth spans the Milky Way, Triangulum, and Andromeda, with Tarn-Vedra near its core. The Commonwealth is at war with the Magog, a predatory humanoid species with bat-like faces that is dedicated to war. Peace talks led the Commonwealth to cede a key world to the Magog, that of the Nietzscheans; in response, the Nietzscheans secretly attempted to usurp control of the Commonwealth. Dylan Hunt is the captain of the Commonwealth ship Andromeda Ascendant. Its computer is a powerful artificial intelligence which can emit a holographic interface persona in the form of a woman, called "Andromeda" or "Rommie". Caught by surprise in the first engagement of the Nietzschean uprising, the crew evacuates. The Andromeda, with Hunt aboard, is caught at the edge of the event horizon of a black hole, freezing both in time.

Three hundred and three years later, in CY 10087 (approx 5167 AD), the crew of the salvage ship Eureka Maru locates the ship. The Systems Commonwealth has fallen, and the era known as The Long Night has begun. Hunt recruits the salvage crew to join him in an attempt to restore the Systems Commonwealth and "rekindle the light of civilization". The salvage crew comprises its leader, Beka Valentine, a con-artist and expert pilot; a super-genius engineer named Seamus Harper (rescued from Nietzschean-enslaved Earth by Beka) who can plug his mind directly into computer systems; Trance Gemini, a mysterious alien of unknown origin whose innocent demeanor hides a surprisingly old soul, and Rev Bem, a Magog who has adopted a non-violent, Taoist-like religion called The Way ("Rev" being short for "Reverend"). The salvage crew's beneficiary brings along an insurance policy in the form of a Nietzschean mercenary named Tyr Anasazi.

like they couldn’t come up with something original?

Have they stopped being 'woke', or they will continue to trample all over 'Star Trek'? Do any races exist for the Discovery writers other than black & white?

Lost interest in S2. I like the lead actress and some characters but it just felt "padded" for lack of a better word. Cool moments but overall I didn't want to sit through whole episodes. I will say the production value is off the charts through, brilliant looking series.

I've only ever seen TOS and the first two seasons of Discovery. Ive enjoyed them both. Whenever Trekkies bemoan the new stuff, I just assume it's due to the more action based nature of the show.

Nerds being nerds at their nerdiest.

Yes, I loved Last Jedi too. Go suck off a Klingon

The TNG movies and the recent Picard series are probably the "sequels" to TNG. DS9 is mostly a side story, although a few guys from the TNG cast end up having major roles in DS9, and there are a couple cameos from other TNG people throughout. A lot of people love DS9 for its tweaks to the Star Trek formula--it's a darker at times, more mature, has some longer-running threads.

Star Trek: Voyager is pretty much its own thing, and aside from a few TNG cameos, that crew is mostly on its own. It's the whipping boy of the Star Trek series, most people dump on it, but I think it's got a handful of good episodes and is OK-ish.

Star Trek: Enterprise is a prequel to everything. I think it's all right too, most people think it's flat and doesn't have as much personality as the others. Neither this nor Voyager really do much stand out and distinguish themselves from the pack. TNG and DS9 are most people's golden boys.

If you watch DS9 next, don't start it until after you get a few episode into season 4 of TNG, you'll see why.

I'll watch anything Star Trek, but yeah, Discovery and Picard suck ass. I tried denying it but the more I think about it the more I hate these shows. Michael Burnham can die in a fire and Picard is basically Patrick Stewart Adventures. At least Pike was cool so I have some hope for Strange New Worlds. I'm glad the Orville exists, which is more Star Trek than these shows.

Can someone tell me what makes discovery bad? I've never been huge into trek but just started the next generation. If it's being too "woke" then star trek always has been. First interracial kiss, post-capitalist society, all genders equal. Diverse cast. It's literally what Gene's hope for the future was going to be, right?

Yawn, rebuild the Federation from rubble. Will watch but just don't like the premise of this next season.

Dude, Voyager is the TNG leftovers. They recycle effects from TNG all the time, and then they even started to recycle TNG scripts.

There's this one episode where Harry Kim is trapped in a dream or something really stupid and he has to escape from Starfleet or something dumb and the shot of his shuttle escaping recycles the Enterprise escaping the Dyson Sphere in Relics.

Star Trek Discovery S1 was probably my favorite Star Trek season of all time! S2 went pretty nuts. I'm totally excited for S3!

It's actually a nice series on its own.
It's a bit weird when put into that universe the older series have created.
