... incredible.

Why the fuck would anyone buy an XSX and 3090? There are no exclusives there.

So who wants the PS5 to play PS1 games that are upscaled to 4 or 8k, and max 120fps depending on Resolution via Machine Learning, plus added next gen effects such as RT. 😋

Just think what Machine Learning can do for 25 year old games. 🤔

An extreme minority of gamers do, the majority don't give a fuck about old games. If you offer me all the PS1-2-3 games for free I won't touch any.

This is extremely embarrassing, I thought it would be around like 5-10K at the worst case scenario.

All I know is that I'm not hooking-up HDMI convertor leads/capture cards for all of the old machines. Simillarly, I'm not futzing around with emulators to fix shaking or shadows being fucked-up, as I move from game to game. I mean I 'do', because it's the only way I can these days, but it really impacts on my retro playtime. a lot of the time i can't be arsed with all that, so i never get around to playing my old games.

So at one point 7 mins 18 seconds a load screen takes about 5+ seconds to load.

That seems a little worrying on a small game such as this.

Imagine a big open world game, next gen looking, with rich detail etc.

Not sure this bodes well.

They said it was running on Series X after all.....
interesting... so I checked it out.
I dont see much reason to be concerned

video starts with an initial load of a couple of second for the open world, but we dont know if there was more before it.
then from its open world to battle, the transition is instantaneous:

then from battle to camping less than three seconds:

then from camping to in house less than three seconds:

from house to open world less than five seconds

and all these are playable segments

this is just a multiplatform release of a small indie studio of basically two people,
yet it beats both sony's first party (ratchet) and sony internal demo team (astro's playroom ) on loading speeds for gameplay

Loaded PS1 with RT and HDR, Motorstorm or Onimusha@8K with RT, HDR and high resolution backgrounds? Yeah, i´d play that over The Medium, Bright Memory, Quantum Error and every shitty upcoming indie game like Tell Me Why :)

Well, that looks fun, but would rather play new games. Not necessarily The Medium, as it feels like a remake of Clock Tower from PS1/PC back in the 1990's. Bright Memory? Meh, Quantum Error? Meh. I will only open my PS5 if there is something worth my time ;)

I for one, don't really give a fuck about BC (other than being BC with PS4 games), but just watch Sony announce full BC next week during their show, cause I still think it's happening and they were just saving everything for the full blowout reveal. At this point, BC has become one of Microsoft's main selling points for the Series X since it doesn't have a solid launch lineup (but gotta give credit where it's due to Xbox's BC team, they've done a stellar job with BC), so think about the impact marketing wise IF Sony also announces full BC with all previous PlayStation consoles, day 1 PS5 patches for TLOU2 and GoT while also having a solid launch lineup compared to Xbox...

If Sony actually figured out a way to make PS5 fully BC with all previous PlayStation consoles, that's not really something you're gonna want to announce in a simple blog post. Announcing something like that at an event makes much more sense where EVERYTHING else about the console will also be talked about. (UI, features, teardown, full architecture breakdown, etc.)

Your post feels like a low-blow, but yeah' know what? I'm in the fucking mood today too. If Sony were to ever pull something like that off I'd be all over it. How about some ATV: Offroad Fury (THEM BONES!). With all this power, not doing some shit like this feels like a waste.

Basically, I want a nutty Suda 51 game on PS5.

Don't bring FUD as a proof, that clown jumps from 0.30 directly to 1.00 second. Stop at 00:06 and use the mouse to check.

EDIT: Is this guy really comparing that indie game to R&C? Wow.
dont act like this, you are better than that. you are not supposed to be able to count the milliseconds on that video timer.
just pull out your stopwatch and time it yourself ffs!
in fact, if you wanted to be precise about it, you could say that the loading for ratchet has started a couple of seconds before he passes through that hole, since the entire thing before it is a canned animation.

EDIT: comparing multiplatform 2-person indie studio SSD times, to sony tech demo SSD and first party game SSD, Wow!
I only did it because I got a little bit ...concerned with the post that raised these concerns for me, no big deal

Wait,Wait. So xbox couldn't show their flagship game & partners games running on XSX. In their own next gen showcase. But can show XSX captured footage of an indie game in a random IGN show.

No footage of the games they have marketing rights for. But this indie game right here. All of a sudden a day after all the xbox guys questioned XSX gameplay. This indie game which has been shown before with the same footage.

But this This indie game right here was captured on an XSX. Bruh shit look goofy. Of all events a random show. How much they pay IGN to put that text in.

Yeah, shit looks like been made in Windows Movie Maker. It can be BS. If Scorn dev didn't call them out we wouldn't known that all those events were running on PC.

Those aren't even load screens on the indie game, just weird editing transitions. Theres no reason why you'd see like 8 load screens on a 10 minute video, and all of them transition to completely disconnected bits of the game

Man what's wrong with you? You don't need a stop watch, you just pause it at 0:06 and see the jump from 0.30 to 01.00 by using your mouse. No need for that essay.

Come on now, give it a try.

I totally agree. But between new games, you have to decide

a) play Ridge Racer Type 4 at 8K with updated visuals
b) The Medium, Quantum Error and all those $1 titles
c) "walking simulator - teenie drama"

Motorstorm at 4K60+ HDR, RT sounds more enticing to me, than Ass.Creed Nr 44 (at least to me) or next COD "insert war reference". But maybe im the only one.

I would say Spiderman MM and the juicy games coming to PS5, not really interested in those. There are some interesting indies, but those aren't the ones I care about from my personal preference. Most of PS5 revealed games in the first event are surprisingly in my radar, but not Quantum Error.

And i bet, the XSX is capable of loading game boy titles in under 1 second as well!

You are comparing a "simple" game with barely any visuals, assets with Ratchet&Clank RA ... where the screen, level, the action is non stop full of assets, npc and so on.

yeah, while astrobot is the real shit, you are right :messenger_grinning_squinting:

oh, and by the time ratchet loads, there is no "action".
it starts many seconds later, and you all guys are telling me how ps5 SSD can stream to gpu

I am pretty sure your mobile phone has a stopwatch function. just do it, time it yourself instead of continuing to be unreasonable

So how happy are you now?
I am always happy. am just a little less concerned now ;]

Why are you deflecting this? I don't give a fuck about the time spent which is lesser than that misleading video that purposely cuts 70% of 1 second to inflate the overall time. So you either use your eyes and delete that video or it'll be reported as spreading FUD.

OK EVERYBODY ELSE PLEASE TAKE OUT YOUR SMARTPHONES AND TIME THE DAMN THING!
One of us is wrong here Bo, and i bet its not me

it must matter to Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem since he said he is reporting me for FUD, right?
take out your smartphone and time it yourself
It's entirely possible to assume that, for both of these games, they are not fully leveraging the SSD and I/O of these systems. First gen, first year stuff. You're shooting your shot too early guys. We have no idea what crazy shit is down the road that will truly wow us; and maybe these games are simply not made for that moment. I dunno.

I don't want to hear anymore of this out of you two.

Go to your rooms. You're grounded, the both of you. No dinner.

Funny...I don't recall seeing any loading screens on R&C. I think you may be viewing the wrong trailer/game?

i know it was pretty much assumed before but it’s the first time for me I heard a developer say it. This kinda sucks for me at least because it would have been the primary reason I would have bought a ps5 at some point even if I’m in the minority in that belief

No developer said that.

Saint that I’m sure PS3 BC won’t be there.

Well you can do Apple way.
Price and release date a week before the launch.

Yeah, I know that’s doable, but I think that’s more of just an Apple thing. I’m not sure I see that here. For Apple, it’s them and their loyalist consumer base against countless competitors. Some bigger than others, but basically, them vs. all android. Here, it really is Sony vs. MS or the other way around if you like. It’s also not the same conceptually for what the products are. Apple also launches pretty much Annually. Game consoles don’t.

I don’t think we will see an Apple type of launch. Outside of that concept, I just don’t know how much longer is wise for them to wait. In the end, though, even pissed off customers are still pretty likely to buy their box if choice.
