Yeah, you, saudumm and the guy who has a friend working at Borderlands 3 are right. It was me, who wrote all those comments under those videos and of course, i upvoted myself 600 to 2,000 times to win an argument 7 FOKING years later.
Please show me where anyone here said that you wrote and upvoted those comments.

Imagine being starved of next gen footage, and declining to do work/analysis on an updated complete demo.

what is wrong with this picture.

Imagine being caught in a group of Discordia with so many famous people and still trying to pass some... Impartiality.

Maybe, and just maybe, some people forgot about the GitHub data leak a year earlier, or the PS5 (FUD) serious heating problems ...

But I will never forget that Alex Battaglia was up to his neck with this!

What a surprise...

They cant follow up on NX gamer & many others. If NX gamer & others didn't drop videos they would of done another fake neutral & biased video. Covid has brought a lot of new players to the analysis game. Many foreign players ,that don't even talk they just show the visual changes.

Tough times for them for DF. No direct content from xbox. Sony will not give them a look in because of constant slander. With so many youtube players coming into analysis space. Tough times for DF ahead. If only if they were honest from the jump & had integrity instead of taking shilling cheques.

Many people confused the higher the pixel, the higher the image quality. The truth is No. There are others metrics which affects image quality other than resolution. They just buy the highest resolution Tv and called it a day

I definitely think so, the reason why they might lock 30fps at native 4k is probably not because of ps5 can't handle, the cpu might has enough juice to hit 40 to 50 frames but not stable. So they lock at 30 to have smooth experience gameplay. When they use temporal injection technique, they might be able to hit 60fps with the same visual quality with optimization. :messenger_bicep:
I strongly believe both consoles can easily handle native 4k60 without RT or extremely reduced, but as always devs will mainly go for a looker and ramp up graphic effects on 30fps. What everyone should be rejoicing is that we'll have a 60fps option on many games next gen, hooray!!

nope

here's an example so you understand better:
spiderman 4k at its highest resolution case during gameplay has a resolution of ~1580p
1580p is ~4.4 million pixels, 2160p (4k) is ~8.2 million pixels, so already almost half (~53%)

Now from those 1580p (or less), half of them are previous frame data (temporal injection)

So, as you see, its 50% (temp. inj) of 53% of native 4k, so very much less than half.
Overall, in spiderman's case with temporal injection only 27% or less of the 4k resolution pixels are rendered per frame
Can you give me whatever you're smoking?

Honestly I just quietly laugh. That the Dealer group (mainly Dealer and Colt) spout such technical nonsense with none of the others questioning or correcting them (or the above group of posters you list here for that matter) means I just ain't going to be wasting my time.

I think it is a pity that not everyone can afford the financial outlay involved in changing the entire machine in order to take advantage of its performance in games that never squeeze it before the 40xx comes out and the viral cycle begins. It is a good deal, but not for the pocket of the average player. Surely if I could afford to have a 3090 I would buy it without hesitation (and the other imprescindible necessary components), but if I could do that I could also buy both consoles and an iphone or at least one of them, surely PS5 for the exclusives that are never on PC.

Maybe he will get Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem a box of chocolates. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I don't really care about PC gaming myself, and I'm already pretty satisfied with PS5's offering. I can afford 3090Ti and even gift my 1 year old pc to someone and build a new one from the ground up if I'm a PC enthusiast. I try to avoid that generally as I've spent a fortune on car mods before without noticeable benefits.

PC's won't have great games anyway, I can't see something I can't play on PS5 and deserves my money, at least from a personal preference. It's not about money, personally, I've been a happy Sony consoler since 1997. I might consider PC gaming if there is no PS5 Pro and PCIe 5.0 is released (will build a new PC for video editing and rendering performance first and foremost, PC gaming as a side dish).

Many here could afford a good PC, but what's the point if it's full of bottlenecks and no specialized hardware and yet you pay a fortune to build one? I mean something around $2000-2500 at the very bottom just to get close to next gen consoles. PC motherboards are so fucked up that if you put 2x NVMe m.2 the second one draws 25% of main GPU power, and the SLI/Crossfire are barely a 25% over 1 single GPU.

Give me PS5 with a great 4K HDR TV (probably getting 65" Sony XH90 just for HDMI 2.1) and I'm happy with my gaming.

3090 is day one for me and probably a whole new build to go with it.

I am a huge Sony fan and will probably end up buying the PS5 day one as well just to support Sony and some of my friends there.

ok, I am out! you dont seem to be able to understand.
ITS 1580P RESCALED TO 4K
with the temporal injection method FOR 1580P, which is to keep information on screen from the previous frame and blur it (see my gif),
they managed to go at this resolution, WITH RICH AA, otherwise the game would be well below 1440p, and when its busy, WAY BELOW THAT

And you seem unable to accept what the Devs themselves are saying. DF and NXGamer pixel counts don't counter that, in fact the quote I included from DF corroborated my point. All you've provided in terms of actual evidence for your view is "yeah but I think it means this".

The way pixel counts are done is not some magic full screen analysis, they need to find specific conditions and use those to work out what the underlying render resolution was. That would still chuck up 1584p from an image that gets to 4K via temporal injection.

Sadly the XH90 isnt a "great" TV as its HDR is sub par.

Its decent just wish it was a little brighter for that better pop with scenes.

dude, I spent the better part of two hours replying to you, and I see that this time would be better spent talking to my mouse or joypad.

My personal hype for this console launch is at an all time low.

I may get more excited once the PR machine really ramps up but as of right now I have not seen a single thing that screams I must have this.

Knowing I am buying a 3090 and plan on playing all multiplats on PC this year and might only buy the PS5 for the few exclusives I will play really has me down on the new consoles.

My hype level right now 3/10 but start showing me stuff and I am sure that will rise.

A shame. I hope your hype builds up in the coming weeks 😃

I can't wait for Sony to open the floodgates and drown us with information. Only about 2 months til launch, I imagine we'll get a pretty steady stream of info once they start.

Well, going 8K by 2023-2024 with PS5 Pro anyway, hope that CLED (Crystal LED, rivals MicroLED) gets to consumer level. I'm not satisfied by the TV market in general, but XH90 is "great" in terms of quality:value ratio ;) I just saw XH80 (X800H) and it looked gorgeous to me, so anything more would be welcomed! Assuming Sony's a7s III and its lenses isn't killing my budget. :lollipop_crying:

Got a X900E with my Pro to tide me over til next gen. I'm gonna keep a close eye on the sets that are shown at CES 2021 to pick my next set. As much as I wish for a micro led set, they're just too far off. Hoping Sony's new OLEDs will be amazing next year.

Ok, I’ve tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but this is clear favouritism. There’s FAR more footage available of R&C with significant upgrades and changes to June’s version. This should be meat and potatoes stuff to DF - and yet somehow it’s being over looked?

reminds me of this video: even a few cm away from the screen it was impossible for a "normal" person to see a difference between 4K and 8K. Screens are still not large enough...
But that might change in 4 years

Timestamped:

If not mistaken, the uploader was not aware of this i think, but that Samsung 8K was a fake 8K with "built in cheats". But since Samsung created their own "alliance", their own "HDR10+", their own "standards".

Samsung made up an alliance (Hisense was part of it, then dropped out), gave themselves an award and ... rest is history. Same shit going on with HDR10+ (standard created by Samsung, based on what makes their TVs look great, instead of going with dolby vision). F#ck´em.

EDIT
I read the 2 articles you posted, and they both state that Samsung 8K is real 8K (not fake, not cheated), but its just shit. Thats different :messenger_winking:
In the video he shows what LG is complaining about, the low contrast between pixels.

I currently don't care enough about that tbh...

Well they created their "own" standard (8K Association of which Samsung is a founder member), that should tell you who they really are or how they operate.

LG's argument seems to have some merit as the Consumer Technology Association last week said a contrast modulation rating of 50% or higher is one of the minimum specifications TV manufacturers must meet in order to carry its new "8K Ultra HD" logo.

Why would they "create" their own alliance, standards ... ? maybe because their 2019 8k did not reach 25% (images) as indicated by ICDM "standard" (to which most TV manufacturers agreed upon, but only 12%. (blurrier image).

the ceiling that shines on the floor is NOT raytracing, its a map. It was already discussed on its respective subject.
in fact in the recent demo there is a place where the wrong cube map is put on the floor inside a walled room, and it "reflects" a building that is behind the wall 100m further away. watch it being "fixed" (ie switched) next time they show the game.
also, items like benches have the same nice shiny reflection on the floor as long as they are in their original place and static, but the instant you break them into pieces, there is absolutely no reflection of any of the pieces.

I have checked the translation to confirm that I have not made a mistake and I definitely believe that the translation is correct and that the part where I talk about "HYBRID" technology is perfectly clear. Same as the part where I say that everything doesn't have to be RT.

If due to my lack of English I have not properly understood your comment, please excuse me. Although at the moment I think that the one who has not understood me is you. :messenger_mr_smith_who_are_you_going_to_call:

I’ll probably get boo’d out of this thread for saying this but I’m leaning towards subbing to services like GeForce now and hopefully Xcloud over upgrading my 1070 when the 30XX series drops.

I’ve been using GN to replay games like Control and Metro with RTX and it’s a surprisingly solid experience. The only reason I haven’t unplugged my HTPC entirely is Game Pass.

Totally agree. Native 4K is nice, but too expensive, to the point of being a waste of performance that could be better used for more advanced visuals. For flat games the image quality I get from my Pro is enough for me; The Last of Us 2 is 1440p on it and has the best graphics I’ve seen in a game, with no aliasing whatsoever.

8K will be an even bigger waste, totally unnecessary in my opinion.

For VR, though, higher resolutions will still matter for a long time, even past 4K or 8K, since in VR we are not just looking at a relatively small rectangle, but (ideally) covering the entire human field of view. To display those extreme resolutions, however, we will need dynamic foveated rendering with eye tracking, in addition to image reconstruction techniques, as the hardware power to brute force this increase will not go up indefinitely.
True. VR is another world. Resolution is much more important than on TV. But more important than resolution is pixel density. And more than this is the image refresh rate.

I was planning on saving games for that sweet SSD / backwars compat but got impatient on a couple.

That would be too much positive exposure for Sony's PS5....It would probably hurt saying how impressive R&C looks with raytracing and 4k native resolution in tow......

After that infamous damage control video from them regarding halo reveal I have no doubt they are in bed with MS. I’m sure they have some exclusive content locked with MS regarding series s right after the thing gets announced. And I bet we don’t have to wait to much long for it.

I'm surprised people are asking digital foundry for another ratchet and clank video as the initial look was fine and the new trailer shows us that they're still improving it. I'd be much more likely to watch the final game be analysed when it is launched in a few months.

If the do one and there is another video that shows even more improvements then will they have to make another video?

The thing is, we're so starved of next-gen information, and here we have another very high quality video we can get of a game running on a next-gen console and whilst they have already covered it previously, there has been some improvements/refinements since the first unveiling and to fill the next-gen news void until we get more conferences ala State of Play, this is the most recent footage that can be dissected

(y)
Hybrid. Nomenclatures differ by software, people, and companies. Although at the end of the day everyone says the same. Combine past technology with future technology to create hybrid results in the present. I think it is understood in my comment, if not, excuse me. There is currently no AAA game that is not hybrid. None. Another thing is that people want to believe it or not. And not necessarily because it can't be done, but because it isn't necessary.

This will possibly (surely) change starting in 2021 for the generalist developer (and later for the consumer, maybe 2022 or ending 2021). As an example you have the UE5 and motors owned by other companies. However with this I am not saying that it cannot be done currently, the option exists, but I do not know it is being used in its entirety. Or at least I am not aware of it in any 2020-21 project. But of course, who am I to know everything? Obviously I do not know everything and may still surprise "more" this year. And I repeat again, that a technology is not used is not because it cannot be used, but sometimes it is not necessary in its entirety (for now).

This is probably another fanboy wishlist but dear God I wish it was true. Come on now Sony do something... anything... I’m so freaking tired of waiting.

As nifty as this would be, all of it could easily have been guessed based on rumors, recent info and, well basically by reading either GAF or Era. Probably not too far off from the truth though. I want my new God of War trailer though!

I can see some of that being true. Like the part about gameplay for Spiderman and Demon Souls will probably happen. Definitely an explanation of the UI and OS features as well.
