That shit is fake, as fake as XSX footage. They told IGN to replace the "booing" with applause or outright did themselves? Even Gamespot replaced it. Check the comment section here.

this is live. he got booed of the stage, like the two dudes during EVO show.

Oh stop.

This story has been debunked many times. The booing was edited/taken from the Battlefield 4 demo earlier that had no sound.

So a heavily edited video is your proof that the crowd booed after the price reveal and all major sites edited the video at the request of microsoft? Seriously, I've read way better conspiracy theories.

Yeah, you are right. I guess all those 5,000 comments or so mentioning it, where all mine, fake, alt-accounts.

Here live cut, right after the show by these 3. "quiet, you could feel it ... " no mention of any applause. Are you from Austria? You are shilling boooi!

Seems MS has decided to go first . News from them for xss and possibly price

Just like last time Xbox was going to go all out...

This guy hypes with vague statements, eventually they'll come true.

You could hear a pin drop seconds after the announcement, right before Spencer wanted to continue and the crowd decided to applaud.

But I guess this random streamer must have been told by Microsoft to edit his video too?

Seems things are building up for big things in September. I'm going to guess Sony announce on Wednesday for a 10th of September show. If MS stick to their rumoured determination of going after Sony then I expect them to do their show the following week.

Yeah because Youtube comments are a legit place to get quality information. Just stop. You look silly.

I hope that the same people who started this thread:
...and proceeded to accuse @NXGamer of fanboyism for not analysing FS2020 yet do the same to DF then.
But I'm not holding my breath for that.

Yup DF has no desire to revisit R&C gameplay..

I honestly don’t think so - not the S reveal or the sudden rush of games. The S reveal has been rumoured for ages and nothing has come. Why should September be more reliable than the rumours of May, June, July or August announcements? If anything the passing time makes a September announce less likely.

But either way, the fallout from the July MS reveal has changed the scenery....

There's some rumouring Xsex will be delayed, it’s clear it’s gonna launch with not much in the way of system sellers and zero first party.

Even if the factors that could delay Xsex wouldn’t apply to the S, I don’t think MS is going to launch 2 consoles into a space with no software support and zero hype. That's just throwing good money after bad.

Then there’s the games. There aren’t gonna be first party games to show. There simply hasn’t been time. We know what MS first parties are doing from the July event and they’re nowhere near producing anything. AAA games take a long time - 5 years or so - to develop and MS first party are barely at the start of their cycles. With Halo delayed that’s not gonna to get shown again until they know it’s observably better. The rest are further away than that.

So, MS first party is gone for now - may as well forget they exist for 3 years when it comes to console releases.

Third parties? Well they’ve got (timed console exclusive) Medium - doesn't look particularly great but let's see, and Scorn with no confirmed release date, gameplay from back when it failed kickstart and a team who hasn’t released a game before. Other than those a few other games which won't be on PS5 for a while, but I can't recall any titles that are going to drive a console launch, nevermind 2 Xbox consoles.

MS may be desparate to moneyhat something but if they have succeeded there'd be no reason to keep that quiet, so I assume they haven't got anything to say there either.

So in summary I don't think MS are suddenly gonna produce a rabbit from their hat - I don't think Sony is either. There's no reason to "hide" stuff - it's not chess, its about as complex as Snap now in terms of release strategy.

I don't even think they're holding back price and release details due to competition - I think they're doing it to mitigate risk from the impact of COVID on profitability - if they misjudge the costs and set the RRP too low, console profits are severely impacted. If it were me I'd wait until as close to launch as possible to find out what the effects of lockdowns and reduced efficiency are in the logistics and sales channels, coupled with exchange rate fluctuations and the potential for financial impact from recovering economies. I think that's why MS and Sony are dragging their feet on the specific launch details.
You forgot to mention another factor, Gamepass. They could make a deal to grab a big 3rd party game and put it day one on the service, but we already know what's coming, like COD, AC and Cyberpunk, and, if so, that would already be announced too.

nope

here's an example so you understand better:
spiderman 4k at its highest resolution case during gameplay has a resolution of ~1580p
1580p is ~4.4 million pixels, 2160p (4k) is ~8.2 million pixels, so already almost half (~53%)

Now from those 1580p (or less), half of them are previous frame data (temporal injection)

So, as you see, its 50% (temp. inj) of 53% of native 4k, so very much less than half.
Overall, in spiderman's case with temporal injection only 27% or less of the 4k resolution pixels are rendered per frame

From the article I quoted ...
We render slightly more than half the pixels, then “inject” them into a full-sized 4k image.

You are describing half the pixels of 1580p via temporal projection and then upscale them to 4k for output? Further on in the article it is clarified further.
Mike Fitzgerald: On a PS4 Pro, the game outputs to the TV at 4k. Internally, most of the frame is rendered to a 2816×1584 or 2560×1440 image (in expensive situations), then projected over time into the master output 4k image using the “temporal injection” technique mentioned above to accurately anti-alias the picture.

The temporal projection is from the rendered 1584p or 1440p image.

That gameplay section is likely scripted, so it can be replicated. What scripted means here is that instead of you having a person holding a remote to run through it, you tell the computer to do what you want it to happen on screen.

It's still gameplay, but you can compare the same frame over time in the exact same spot.

Thanks man, i really appreciate this explanation.
I find it amazing how much we were impressed by June's footage, in June! then Aug's footage comes along and makes it look like a bag of dicks by comparison.

There are multiple videos with the full conference uploaded on YouTube on the same day it took place where there is no booing, including the one you have been linked to. Moreover, the booing sound is virtually identical from the one from the Battlefield presentation you have been shown. Do you have a real rebuttal to this other than "I don't know who you are" and "I already decided you are wrong and am going to call you names for it"?

I couldn't give a shit what youtube comments are saying, and neither should anybody. I can go dig you up millions of dirt-licking dumb people claiming any number of moronic things on the internet, and youtube is definitely not one of the brightest avenues you could go and take your info from. There are unironical videos with hundreds of thousands of views and tens of thousands of likes illustrating the flat earth theory, how reptilians and android clones from the future are ruling the world, how to heal cancer by drinking bleach or shoving an amethyst up your ass, and "first-hand" accounts of encounters with any sorts of alien, demon, spirit and fictional creature. Does the fact that high volumes of morons believe retarded things make them more believable?

nope

as I said, the game NEVER outputs a 4k (2160p) image
it is mainly 1580p
it can go a bit lower than that when busy, and a bit higher if you are looking at the sky
you can see it for yourself if you go to options and disable motion blur

Look at the quotes read what the developers say. It creates a 1584p image (just over 50%) and uses the temporal projection to create the 4K one from that. Of course it outputs at 4K a TV won't take a 1584p image so it has to do something to go from 1584p to 4K yes? That is where the temporal injection occurs.

The best description is here: https://blog.playstation.com/2018/09/06/insomniac-interview-the-tech-behind-marvels-spider-man/amp/

PlayStation.Blog: There’s a technical term — temporal injection — that Insomniac has used to great effect in Ratchet & Clank and now in Marvel’s Spider-Man. What is temporal injection, and how have you modified its implementation between your last PS4 Pro project and this one?

Al Hastings:
Temporal injection is a technique we use to create a full 4k image on the PS4 Pro without rendering every pixel on every single frame. We render slightly more than half the pixels, then “inject” them into a full-sized 4k image. By slightly jittering the locations of the rendered pixels from frame to frame, we can reconstruct a very accurate anti-aliased full 4k image over a handful of frames. There are other teams using similar techniques, but with slight variations in the implementation.

Since Ratchet & Clank, we’ve made dozens of refinements to the algorithm. These serve both to make it run faster and to minimize its shortcomings, like the tendency to make the final 4k image slightly softer than it ought to be.

So rather than just doing 1584p and simply upscaling there is jittering and combination of frames over time to allow for an anti-aliased 4K image.

I'm not disputing the 1580p - but a TV won't take a 1580p signal, it needs 4K so how does the game turn it's 1580p image into 4k? The methods and techniques for getting from 1580p to 4K will determine the final image quality whilst still allowing pixel counters to work out what resolution the original image was rendered at. I'm saying it's temporal injection to get from 1580p to 4K - that's what the devs say and that's still in line with what DF say. That also matches the "We render slightly more than half the pixels" quote too.

This is what Df said in their article ...

This is coupled with generally excellent image quality. Spider-Man utilises Insomniac's temporal injection technique featured in Ratchet and Clank on PS4 Pro. While there is precious little information available on this technique, Insomniac seems to prefer this over typical checkerboarding. The results are mostly excellent - completely avoiding the stippling that can crop up with checkerboard rendering and producing detail that exceeds raw pixel count.

ok, I am out! you dont seem to be able to understand.
ITS 1580P RESCALED TO 4K
with the temporal injection method FOR 1580P, which is to keep information on screen from the previous frame and blur it (see my gif),
they managed to go at this resolution, WITH RICH AA, otherwise the game would be well below 1440p, and when its busy, WAY BELOW THAT

One thing that I have seemed to see several times and I want to clarify (it is an answer in general).

The one that "shines" the most or the one that "reflects" the most is not mean a better or worst RT. The RT can also be present on a matt surface too. And it isn't necessary that everything will be RT. In fact, the only important thing is that the final image is as convincing as possible with the best performance. And if a hybrid technology gives the necessary results, it is not necessary to waste resources using full RT for everything just to brag about it even if the result between one and the other is invaluable.

The same happens with the resolution. If there is no appreciable difference between a native resolution and a simulated one, and certainly you, as a user, will not notice the difference and will get better performance, why obsess over native 4K?

There will be someone who really cares to show off, but I'm not in that group. Because if it is not noticed, it is absurd to waste resources that can be used to improve visual realism or general or specific performance. If to notice the difference in the future TLOU3 I have to resort to DF I prefer to have non-native resolution with better graphic finish than native resolution and graphic clipping.

Also, would Halo-Inf be better at native 8K? Would that fix the deficiencies of this one? (They are rhetorical questions).

Don't worry so much about this war of the "real" or the "simulated". The best will always be what, in motion, is most convincing.

This answer does not mean that the PS5 cannot do Full RT or native 4K@60. Yes it can.

And they won't revisit Halo Infinites gameplay?

The Ratchet demo was the most talked about thing from Gamescom and it's an uncut gameplay demo with next gen effects in it. You would think they would want to take a look at it again.
I actually understand that they don't want to revisit it because it's essentially footage we've already seen but without cuts and with some non-significant changes to colour palette and reflections.
Everyone knows the game looks insane.
Can't wait for the full analysis during PS5's launch window.

You absolute sausage brain, nobody said you created thousands of fake youtube comments yourself to prove your point. The objection was that even if thousands of people think it was changed in the video, that doesn't automatically make it true, especially if there is convincing evidence to the contrary.

Even the video you yourself posted is contraddictory to your own theory. They just say "everybody was disappointed" and "there was silence"; they don't say he was booed, which you would think would be pretty important to mention rather than just say there was silence? What they describe basically matches exactly with WHAT HAPPENS IN THE GODDAMN VIDEOS YOU CLAIM ARE FALSE: he says the price, there is a moment of awkward silence, then the applause timidly starts to end the tension.

You seem in desperate need to score some "gotcha" moments with people, but what you propose makes no sense in relation to the evidence, and how you try to argue for it is frankly embarassing. I don't know if you are 14 or you are simply naturally more dense than uranium, but I suggest you to take a break, re-assess your thinking pattern and start analyzing the whole situation from scratch.

the ceiling that shines on the floor is NOT raytracing, its a map. It was already discussed on its respective subject.
in fact in the recent demo there is a place where the wrong cube map is put on the floor inside a walled room, and it "reflects" a building that is behind the wall 100m further away. watch it being "fixed" (ie switched) next time they show the game.
also, items like benches have the same nice shiny reflection on the floor as long as they are in their original place and static, but the instant you break them into pieces, there is absolutely no reflection of any of the pieces.

Totally agree. Native 4K is nice, but too expensive, to the point of being a waste of performance that could be better used for more advanced visuals. For flat games the image quality I get from my Pro is enough for me; The Last of Us 2 is 1440p on it and has the best graphics I’ve seen in a game, with no aliasing whatsoever.

8K will be an even bigger waste, totally unnecessary in my opinion.

For VR, though, higher resolutions will still matter for a long time, even past 4K or 8K, since in VR we are not just looking at a relatively small rectangle, but (ideally) covering the entire human field of view. To display those extreme resolutions, however, we will need dynamic foveated rendering with eye tracking, in addition to image reconstruction techniques, as the hardware power to brute force this increase will not go up indefinitely.

My personal hype for this console launch is at an all time low.

I may get more excited once the PR machine really ramps up but as of right now I have not seen a single thing that screams I must have this.

Knowing I am buying a 3090 and plan on playing all multiplats on PC this year and might only buy the PS5 for the few exclusives I will play really has me down on the new consoles.

My hype level right now 3/10 but start showing me stuff and I am sure that will rise.
I think it is a pity that not everyone can afford the financial outlay involved in changing the entire machine in order to take advantage of its performance in games that never squeeze it before the 40xx comes out and the viral cycle begins. It is a good deal, but not for the pocket of the average player. Surely if I could afford to have a 3090 I would buy it without hesitation (and the other imprescindible necessary components), but if I could do that I could also buy both consoles and an iphone or at least one of them, surely PS5 for the exclusives that are never on PC.

Maybe I will get Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem a box of chocolates. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
