I've been thinking of something few weeks ago.

Not sure if you guys remember, but Revelations 2 actually ran better on the Xbox One than the PS4, in fact, there are few games that for some reason run better on it, even if the PS4 higher resolution would have only been enough to use the more powerful hardware gap.

My stupid guess? API. OpenGL was something very criticized for more demanding games until Vulkan came in and documentation was also another issue, while DirectX came with the basics set and a very good documentation, which pavemented as the lead API for many years. So developers are actually developing mainly for the DirectX for Xbox and PC and OpenGL ends up being the aftertought for the PS4. PS5 uses Vulkan instead. RE Engine uses the DirectX as the main API.

The game is only 60% complete. It won't be out until Spring 2021. It's obvious that some things were shown to simply just get something out there, especially with Covid affecting many games' development cycles in a big way.

I'm not worried. This is just spouting nonsense about how it runs poorly on PS5, but wait! By the time it comes out, it'll run perfectly.

Maybe not as efficient as XSX(that small differential inherent in multiplats they say), but very well and unnoticeable by all but the most scrutinizing of connoisseurs.

Then why say anything? More FUD as they call it? The spin continues.

What was the original thread? I would like to enjoy the snoy meltdown that happened over at reeee.
I posted this here in the thread about "insider matt", as people over there were immediately calling and mentioning for him for "help" :messenger_beaming:

the thread was something like "How can microsoft compete with sony? can they even?" :messenger_tears_of_joy:

and the thread that was born of this inside info from the (formerly) vetted moderator, the one that that got locked in 8 minutes is > this one <

A budget CPU can get you that on current gen games yes, but for next gen you'll need a far more powerful CPU. Next gen consoles are definitely quite powerful, but right now there are some cross gen games that won't even support 60fps.

If some cross-gen games won't support 60fps, then that's on the developers.

If even PS5 cannot handle this game at 1080p, then surely its a next gen only game?
How are PS4/Xbox one/mid-range PC gonna run these? at 720p?
Regardless of how powerful the hardware is. The game still has to be optimized. There's still more than enough time for capcom to do so.

I said Xbox fans would be all over this later today and look what happened.

It's going to be another FarCry situation where they'll disappear when they find out that it will be more than capable of 1080p and 60fps.

wouldn't be surprised if its close to or at 1400p 60fps when the game releases.
🤷‍♂️ I'd rather have 1080p 60fps with bells and whistles vs 4k 30 with basic physics, AI etc

I mean, that's what loads of people on this forum agreed to, 1080/60 with bells and whistles is better than 4k/30 flat.

yea i guess my point is, this is more a game development/optimization issue rather than "PS5 not powerful enough" issue.

The inverse is also true for games on Pro/X. Some games run better on Pro versus Xbox One X like Ace Combat and DMCV I believe (though it's been a long time and they may have patched performance who knows).

Yeah, when Jez doesn't buy your shtick, it's all done.

This was just a stunt to segue discussion into possible "faults" of the PS5 when things are heating up regarding the exclusives Sony is about to drop bombs on, as well as their upcoming deep dive in a couple of weeks, if rumors are true.

Yeah, it's weaker but this is just nonsense talk. Smells like damage control again.

Sure, the extra 300 Mhz on CPU for Series X do 4k/60fps for this game vs 1080/30fps
Poor PS5 with 10.28Tf vs 12Tf.

You see the difference ? This HUUUUUGEEE Like transistion on 2D to 3D (screenshot on Era with Downscale DooM Eternal 18% difference)

Arogant Sony IS BACK

PS5 IS RDNA 1
PS5 HAVE FAKE Ray-TRACING with Software Shaders (I dont know what is mean, but I thinks is not good for PS5, SO I TRUST MY INSIDER TWITTER)

You mean 3.5 Ghz in SMT for PS5 and 3.6 GHz in SMT for XSX. Difference is even less.

No, It's simply an issue of getting the game optimized.

If anyone thinks the PlayStation 5 is struggling to run this game at 1080p 60fps because the hardware is weaker, then they clearly don't know much in regards to the specs for both consoles.

PS5's CPU is less than 4% weaker and more than capable of pushing out 60fps at 1080p.

that’s partially true. Do keep in mind that GPU heavy games will lower the CPU clocks as they are variable. At this point it is unknown what the bottleneck is. Maybe this won’t be an issue by release

he picked up the thread from the twitterbot and wrote "LOL I dont believe this"
reading comprehension ftw.

also, last week that same moderator broke the other capcom news, that a new pass for SF is coming because game director fucked up next game, game is getting delayed and he's getting demoted/canned.
that was a much bolder claim.
today said director posted his resignation.

Yes, let's look at that and not his CONSTANT STATE OF BACKTRACKING WHEN CALLED OUT HERE.

First, it's "devs" and "games". Then one dev team and one game. Then he's talking about the state of the game a few months ago. Called out by Verified peeps with dev experience and now he's not saying the final version WILL be 1080/60. Now he's saying it's EASILLY gonna hit 1080/60, and even 4K/60, just not native 4K/60.

The dude has shifted his stance multiple times and yet because he was right about Ono, this totally means EVERYTHING he'd originally said had full credibility.

Sounds to me like a mod wanted to stir the pot and brought his credibility into question to do it.

I swear I cannot see the difference between the 2 screenshots (not the most technical), are there specific details I need to pay attention to?
Apologies if you meant it as a sarcastic post...

Feels waaaaaay too premature to draw any conclusions from this. Poor performance at this stage could likely be due to many many factors, most of which would go above the heads of nonprogrammers, much less nonprogrammers who really have no idea how the ps5 works.

It looked like crap on the pro and looked absolutely gorgeous on the X? Uh that sounds a bit off but I’ll take a look .
It's slightly less sharp on the pro. That's the difference . It's better than vanilla ps4 but not as sharp as one X, as one may expect from a literal 40% boost in gpu power, 50 percent more ram and a faster CPU.... meanwhile over in the real world where the ps5 is 15 percent down in GPU... I suspect we will need DF to show us where the differences even are .

Yep. It's happened numerous times with RE now.

RE7 revealed mid-2016, released Q1 2017
RE2make revealed mid-2018, released Q1 2019
R3make revealed late 2019, released Q2 2020
The game had a target of Q1 2021 but due to covid that will change to anywhere in 2021

Now, what it grinds my gears is why when someone with little or no substantial track record is considered the truth when he says that there are issues with the XSX dev kits and stuff. But when one of the most reliable sources in Capcom who even said days ago that SF6 was having a rocky development and that Ono was demoted (he left Capcom today), reports that he saw issues with the PS5 build and that other developers he know also told him about performance issues, it's all bullshit.

IntentionalPun

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Is he backtracking?

He said "it'll probably be working perfectly by launch" in maybe his second post on RE8.

But his original post claimed a "pool of devs" and then later he said he should have just said one game.

Definitely FUD.. even if there's any truth to it it's still FUD, I mean his first "vague" post was acting like this was a problem across multiple games. So yeah he's been backtracking from then on... now it's "just RE8 but it will be fine by launch."

How can be this happening even. I can’t believe it.
I can absolutely believe it. Its their RE-Engine being ported to a new architecture. RE Village is a cross-gen game, absolutely is, I expect them to get better with more time on the new machines. Some developers are quicker at picking up or figuring out the nuances of a system than others. If your cross gen game is having a hard time running on next gen hardware even at 1080p that code needs work. We've already seen better looking games running @ 4K at a stable frame rate but I'm sure this will be held up as proof that the PS5 is weak, fair enough, people had fun with HALO. This news should help the fanboys feel better about all the HALO hate that went around :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Edit: We've also already seen better looking games on Series X, like the Medium and the Unicorn... HellBlade 2 with "in-game graphics"

It’s weird how PlayStation attracts so much of this. Gets people to try and spread lies. I bet in his mind he was just “evening things”.
