My PS4 controllers in Ireland are a piddly 800 mAh power reserve, double is better sure but meh. Take what I'll get I suppose!

I'm not sure exactly I know the trully extention of a standart controller duration. But if its double, then its a freaking great deal.

Double of nothing isn't much.

EDIT: Wow, some people can't take a joke.

And what day and hour did you not joke?

Good, battery life on the DS4 is just inexcusabley wank.

Even doubling it only elevates it to alright.

Yeah I posted that picture on Era earlier. Hopefully it leads to a nice bump in battery life more inline with Xbox and Nintendo controllers.

That's not a removable battery but making the painful internal battery bigger is something

Says the guy posting in a Sony thread right now and mocking Sony and their fans.

Mocking you. Found it funny that even in a Sony-thread you can’t help yourself.

truth is - i honestly think it’s great they are improving the battery life.

You and me both brother. Let's rub our good will towards Sony together sometime.

Honestly, doubling it isn't enough if it eats up power like the DS4. I hope it also consumes less power, because the DS4 was a fucking wreck as far as controllers go when it comes to battery time.

We can't know what double CAPACITY means for the controller's battery life until we get real world tests.

I remember the year PS4 came out, you could get a DS4 the summer before it was released and jump through hoops and use it on PC, also some not ALL PS3 games, hopefully we see that with this one too, although no PC game would take advantage of all those niche features.

Yeah my launch PS4 controller would die super quick.

It seemed like they fixed the later versions maybe because those seemed to last quite a bit longer.

Well, i've expected at least 2000 mAh. Anyway, for what it is, maybe it will be good because DS now has more motors which are more advanced too. Built-in mic. At least there is a less lights.

As I've said before, i play with these controllers plugged in more often than not.. maybe it's because i grew up in the 00s, when wireless things weren't so well developed, i just prefer to operate without the stress of having the things power off at a crucial moment.

This controller seems to be a real living, breathing thing (well not literally but you know what i mean), so I'm not surprised it has a huge battery but a life span that many people are nonplussed by.

I'm perfectly fine with this.
My newer DS4 (the one that came with my Pro) has acceptable Battery life. I've never actually timed it but I usually only have to charge it like once a week

EDIT:
That only seems to say the battery is bigger though. I guess it will depend on how much energy the whole haptic feedback stuff uses.
The new haptics draws less power than two «big» motors (as used in DS4). The DS has adaptive triggers too tho’ and that’s a power draw the DS4 didn’t have. Not that I think it’s drawing that much power, but still...

That shit barely lasts 3

That's not true and you know it! The Dusalshock last around 8-10 hours depending on the game.

The Switch Pro Controller has 1300mAh, and the DualSense will be 1560mAh, so hopefully it last at least half of the time. The Switch Pro Controller last a lot. I can play for 3-4 days without recharging.

No I honestly have never had one last me that long. Granted I've had only a total of two since the pack-in one broke. I have always had this problem and I attributed it to being unable to turn that damn lightbar off completely.

The Switch Pro controller is fantastic though, that thing lasts me days... and the Wii U pro controller lasted like a year xD

More like peasants. Even the elite 2 uses lithium.
You are aware that high quality lithiums exist in AA format, right? 20$ will supply your entire household's need for AA batteries for decades. I'm still using the same 2 sets of batteries I used on my 360, and now my XB1 pad lasts about 20 hours instead of 30. When it dies I swap them out with fresh charged batteries, and pop the dead ones into my cheap trickle charger I use for my vape batteries.

8 year old batteries, 20 hours of playtime, 1 minute to swap them out and put on the charger. Get your shit together Sony.

That's a very big upgrade in terms of capacity. DS4 battery life was okay at best, this could potentially make the Dualsense battery life very decent.

Still though seems like it'll end up halfway between the Switch Pro controller's amazing battery performance, and the joke that is throwing a couple of AA in the box.

Hmm, I'm sceptical that this will make a difference in the long term.

The Dualsense has more going on - new haptics and such. I reckon this will actually keep it at the same charge level as the DS4, sadly.

Nice. I think DS4 battery life is bad but bearable. Unless you game for 6 hours straight, you aren't gonna run out of battery; however, it gets annoying if you forget to plug it in after a session or two. Shouldn't be a problem at all with the new battery and it could even last through the week for a lot of people.

it better be at least 16 hours battery
Seriously doubtful.

Double the life of the launch DS4 is a good starting point. I had 2 controllers just for long gaming sessions. Swapped them around on the USB cable until I got the charging dock. Then it's a no-brainer, because it acts as the place where you store the controller. So you're always charging it when not in use. I'll probably buy a charging dock and 2 controllers again, but I'm not really sure my gf actually plays video games. She certainly doesn't on her phone.
