You might as well retitle the Xbox and PC versions to ‘Some Avengers’

The only way I'd accept this is if Insomniac gave their code and help for Spider-Man to Square Enix to make the character and physics without any real work. Then throwing a few dollarydoos along with it for a PS bonus would make sense. Otherwise this sucks altogether.

EDIT: There's a legal binding contract out publicly that specifically states what each company owns. It was amended in 2015 and again in 2019, both of which we don't have access to. In the latest publicly available contract Marvel owns everything except:

- Live action and animated movies. There are specifics and they have to be a certain length and come out ever so often or they lose the right
- Live action TV rights.
- Some specifics on broadway shows and merch directly related to movies within a certain period of time.

Secondly, the latest publically available contract has... nothing to do withe the contracts that aren't publically available.

You're basically looking at a contract that's over a decade old and using it as proof? Get outta here with that.

She's also been wrong aplenty. More so than she has been right. Actually I can't remember last time she was correct. You can believe whatever the hell you want. Hell believe Santa Claus for all I care, but Grace Randolph being a reliable source is an easy way to get you laughed at so I'll take this opportunity and laugh at you LOL.

I'm not saying you have to trust me, but you are trusting a random youtuber over a binding contract because it fits whatever narrative you want to believe. FOH with that nonsense.

I will disagree with your speculation on why they got such contracts (i.e. Marvel SM). I believe it's completely separate from the movie deal. Marvel Games is completely independent from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures is completely separate from SIE.

Sony would need to get hacked. Plus it makes no sense Spiderman PS4 to be exclusive out of Disney’s choice. Insomniac wasnt a Sony studio. Disney could have published the game themselves, Activision, whoever. The whole insomniac picked Spiderman sounds like BS.

It doesn't have to make sense. Does it make sense for Disney to shut down Lucas Arts and give the Star Wars gaming IP to EA for 10 years? Nope, but that happened.

Again you have your speculation and I have mine. We can't prove each other wrong and they are just educated guesses on our parts.

This sucks for Spider-Man fans as well. Now he can’t be in the main story or any DLC. The game has to completely work without him. He can never be more than an afterthought. He’ll never get balanced properly or have the heat progression the others due.

Thanks to Sony platform locking him, we only get a gimped Spider-Man forever

I own all platforms too. But I’m not supporting this garbage. I like to buy multiplats on my One X and exclusives on my pro. I’m not going to buy off my platform of choice because Sony and Square decided to be scummy. It’s exactly like the Epic store and Steam argument. Yes, all pc users can just buy the epic store version, but they dont want to. And at least then, it’s usually just a timed exclusive.

I hate to be part of the pre-order cancelled meme but.... well I have this game pre ordered and it looks like I’m about to cancel. Square games come to gamepass pretty fast anyway, I will just play it there.

It makes so much sense that we got crappy SW games for years and there was such a huge controversy over lootboxes that Iger had to step in himself.

But if you are going to do mental gymnastics to convince yourself that it made sense then I'll do the same. Disney doesn't publish games, they license their IPs. Sony is the market leader in games. Outside of a brief period of time IGs has always been very close and worked very close with Sony even when they were independent. IGs could always be as successful as ND in their games, but always lacked behind. They picked and chose the most popular super hero in the world to work on because why wouldn't they?

You don't have to like it, but it makes perfect sense.

Again, unless you have a source to prove that Sony currently has the game rights to Spider-man then your assertion is incorrect. It doesn't have to be a binding contract a la the leaked Sony one. Something from a reliable source (not a random youtuber please) stating it will suffice. Something similar to what you can find regarding EA and Lucas contract for Star Wars games.

Its not about that, I also own all platforms, but I prefer PC as games look and run better there, however that option is now a lesser version

Massive get for Sony. The ratio was going to be big time in favour of playstation over xbox but now it will be ridiculous. Got Sony ain't holding back. MS hurt then with these 3rd party deals last gen but Sony hit back guns fucking blazing and I absolutely love it.

I don't think an exclusive character is that big of a deal however an exclusive game is.

I don't believe people are complaining on the right thing here. Sure it's bad for people who don't own a PlayStation but at least they can still buy the game.

X game goes out for tender for an exclusive advertising/time exclusive content deal.

Sony and MS bid. Xbox had 47M sales, PS4 110M. If they're to make something timed exclusive on xbox that would piss off 110M ps4 players MS will have to pay a lot more then Sony.

If xbox is to get exclusive advert deal for just 47m consumers they'll need to heavily outbid Sony.

Sony have MS cornered and they're going for the kill.

That's not the point, they might as well remove the PC and Xbox versions, because we're getting an inferior product. So I say make it Sony exclusive completely at this point like Spiderman, since they don't deserve our pity money.

Sony has the rights to Spider-Man in film and video games. I understand the idea that Spider-Man (who happens to be the greatest CB character ever made BTW) is a Marvel character and does tie into the Avengers IP but the real-world implication is that Sony happens to have the license. They invested in the character a long time ago.
Besides, honestly the game kinda looks like garbage. If you're not gonna buy it, base that decision on the merits of the game not what exclusive DLC characters they're throwing in.

you not play shovel knight on either platform because in one you can fight kratos and in another you fight the battle toads?

Even without that, one would not expect Spider-man to be in any other consoles since the 1998 if that was the case. People just believe what they want to believe. And then people make erroneous assertions like you did.

Yeah, it sucks but Sony couldn't care less if you're inconvenienced. They solely care about selling consoles. Without exclusive content PlayStation dies unless they just want to become a third party PS Now app and release all of their games on PC day and date. They are a traditional console platform.

no strawman, it may sound stupid not to release a game but exclusive games and exclusive content is not new I think there is also another marvel ultimate alliance game exclusive to switch I like those games and dont have a switch its perfectly understandable they got an exclusive its what differentiate your platform I am not going to insult nintendo for getting a exclusive game I want to play its actually very intelligent move

unless you started playing video game yesterday I dont believe your reaction to something so common will you insult MS or Phil spencer the next exclusive DLC they get? you shouldn't

If the Avengers game takes place in the same universe as the PS4 Spidey game it makes sense for this to be exclusive IMO.
