This sounds to me as if they're clearing the last current gen information out in preparation for the next PS5 showcase.
I mean I can't imagine there's much more to say about the PS4 and PSVR at this point, but no one wants what little there must be taking up time that could be spent focusing on the PS5 either.

Not really. Microsoft doesn't plan to be talking about any previous gen games and I believe it's safe to assume the price is coming this month from them.
Sony is being a bunch of cocky assholes and shoving in old shit that no one cares about. The updates on some of the 3rd party ps5 games and indies is nice. But it is not enough honestly. I don't care for PS4 games anymore. I already played and platinumed TLOU 2 and GoT. Give me PS5 info.
Microsoft big show already happened so I cut them slack on the price and hardware release reveal because they did it much later than Sony's PS5 reveal event.

Yes it is disappointing, but there are still enough cool games and gameplay that can be shown in 40 minutes and they set expectations so we won't be surprised by no next gen news.

More like very scared because everything points at a higher price for their consoles and they don’t have a low end console like Microsoft. That’s why they are waiting for XSX and XSS prices and adjust accordingly.

Still, a State of Play for PS4 and VR games doesn't mean their won't be an August event for PS5. They are still supporting these platforms, which is a good thing.
