Will GTA 6 graphics just blow us away?

I mean c'mon. I just beat RDR2 on PS4 Pro and it looks better then some 1st party titles. TLOU2/Uncharted 6 & GoW look still better imho but they are not open world and only have one platform to optimize for.
That leaves me to believe that the next GTA will look AMAAAZIIING.

My arguments:
1. Look at GTA 5 and then look at RDR2. WHAT A JUMP in graphics with the RAGE engine on the same platform. ok GTA 5 was a port, but still. We can expect a similar jump.
2. As you could guess, XSX and PS5 will have almost 10x graphics performance than base PS4/Xbone consoles, which will help enormously.
3. As GTA 6 will probably not come out before 2022/2023 there is still lots of time to optimize for the new hardware and proper dev kits.
4. SSDs on both platforms means more detailed assets in the environment. Just think about the UE5 demo.
5. Since RDR2 already looked amazing in a steril environment with mostly grass and trees everywhere, just imagine what a city full of high res assets of cars, streets, high buildings, bridges etc.

It will probably look better then this times two :messenger_face_screaming::

I feel Rockstar isn't able to count past 5 and the sales show they aren't wrong to do so. Its ridiculous how huge GTA V is. Isn't it like the best selling PS4 game also? Watch the same thing unfold on PS5.

I've never been that amazed by GTA's graphics. Their attention to detail, sure. RDR 2 looked very good though. I've never dabbled with mods.

I hope so. Having the technological baseline being PS5 and XSX will be nice. Hopefully the dumb XSS doesn't hold it all back.

I just hope we get some new interactivity. Something like more interiors to explore and having it translate to gameplay (running from cops, going into building, elevator to roof, parachute off to other roof, run through that building into alleyway to lose them, ect).

Maybe even having realistic car destruction or something.

I don't think so. I think it will look really good, but I think everything we will see during the ps5 generation will be mostly shinier/crisper versions of what we already have. Baby steps.

I'm not suppose to show this (under NDA) but here you go, (Screen shot) me playing GTA6 on next gen

The craziest thing is that, when you really think about it, GTA 5 was made for PS3/X360 in mind. The gameplay, the feel of the city/world, AI, physics and everything was made for 2005 hardware. Going from 15+years old cpu, 0.2tf gpu and 256mb RAM to powerful modern gaming CPU Ryzen at 3.6ghz,10tf gpu rdna2(which is 50% more efficient per core than GCN), 16gb gddr6 and SSD.
I cant even imagine what they can do with GTA 6..

For me not really, because they will do what they always do is go for “realism” and for me that’s no longer exciting.

Bigger question is if the game is gonna be actually fun to play or are they still trying jump between simulation open world or linear story driven game.

Exactly. People tend to forget that about GTA5.

Thats if we ever see gta 6. With the Housers gone, I think they will just keep pumping out more gta online rather than a sequel. Online is still a cashcow and going 3 generations straight.

True, and look what you can get out of it if you try a bit:

Considering how amazing GTA V looked on a 15 year old console with 256mb RAM, VI will blow our minds no doubt. But seeing the cash cow V is I'd say we'll be waiting another 3-4 years anyway

RDR2 looks really good on a high end pc and even base PS4, so I imagine now with next gen consoles being the base power level things should be impressive in gta6.

Rockstar being front and center at Sony's event could have been part of a bigger deal/partnership. For Rockstar to give the PS5 version additional custom features that may be optimized around the I/O throughput.

But regardless, it will be the next benchmark in open world designs and that's on both PS5/XSX

I mean, is that a question? No man I totally think it's gonna suck

I would say so. They're the most talented dev team going atm.

Their worlds are just so full of detail nothing else comes close. Unless some kind of major fuckup happened during development I'd wager their next game followed the trend of being the most impressive games of the generation. They always seem to squeeze more out of the hardware than anybody else.

Yes, this is one area SSDs will have a big impact. You don't need so much of the world loaded in RAM because SSD will load things more immediately. Open world games will close the gap next gen.

Eh, depends... Do we consider only game's own graphics or we consider mods too? If we consider PC mods, then no, absolutely not, modded GTA V will beat vanilla GTA 6 easily so I'm personally will not be blown away. Modded GTA 6 on another hand...

You won't see much better than RDR2 or TLOU2 on consoles that early into next gen. They were also developing this before the next gen dev kits so you can't expect the game to be fully optimised for next gen. It takes time for them to learn how to get the most out of the console. We will probably get fast loading times and closer to Native 4K, maybe Dynamic 4K with lowest at 1800p if we lucky. And being massive open world it will still be a capped 30fps. They will probably just be able to have a lot more going on in the world than before, that would be one noticeable difference.

Of course it will blow us away, by the way we'll be playing it on our PS7/Xbox Series XXL, but not before Rockstar release their enhanced GTAV remaster for those consoles.

I admire your optimism in believing gta 6 even exists after Rockstar showing a gta 5 trailer at a nextgen event...
C'mon let's be honest....there is absolutely no way they will never release GTA VI.

It might not be coming any time soon but it'll happen. They aren't done milking GTA V quite yet. I reckon they'll have the PS5/XSX versions then about mid/late gen we'll get GTA VI with remastered version on PS6/X5

If they would finally rip the hell out of the original Saints Row's movement and shooting mechanics and steal The multiplayer modes
Protect Tha Pimp
blinged out ride

I would fall in love with GTA6

Isn't a game like RDR2 easier because they don't have to worry about buildings, car/plane speeds, traffic, etc? Yeah, it would seem so. Like if GTA5 came out when RDR2 did, it wouldn't be as pretty because the amount of stuff they have to render would be so much higher in a modern world. Either way, it will definitely be awesome on next gen hardware.

Graphics are one thing but when the vehicle handling don't match up and feel over simplified Scaletrix cars it is totally offputting. Wish they'd give us actual physics or at least cars that don't turn like the wheels are in the centre of the car. I just didn't want to spend much time in the otherwise beautiful world because it felt so unsatisfying and lightweight and fake. Not compelling at all.

Lets face it GTA 6 will be a reskinned GTA V. They aren't going to muck with the formula that sold 130m games.

If they would give us mods on consoles or just that ability to tune the handling from arcade to realistic it is a game I wouldn't put down. Planes are the only thing that handling well in GTA V.

Nothing is what they are going to do with it. GTA V was a step back from IV and that was intentional.

I think with the current mods we’ve seen, some of us might be hard pressed. The biggest improvement will be to geometry and the application of photogrammetry.

Probably...especially since it won't be out until Ps9 releases anyway. Please look forward to GTA V Definitive Edition for ps5, 6, 7, and 8 while you wait.

Yep. The ray tracing on all the neon lighting of the inevitable Vice City / Miami setting is going to look spectacular.

Hard to tell which one was worse TBH, in IV cars had jellies instead of springs and drove like shit, V had better physics per se, but the driving model where the cars rotate around their own axis wasn't enjoyable either... And another bad thing I find with the cars is that R* doesn't have the licences to use real cars, but so desperately tries to mimic them anyway the cars end up looking absolutely disgusting for an automotive fan, you can easily tell this is an Audi, this is a Lambo etc. but treated with an axe or a machete...
