Star Wars: Squadrons Launches October 2nd on PC, PS4, XB - Full Cross-Play & VR Support on PC

I only played the first Battlefront. I never touched 2 and just kind of wrote it off completely.

Is it really worth playing? Did they fix it since the abysmal launch and bad PR?

It's a total different game than at launch with tons of new content, heroes, maps and different and improved progression based on your skill rather than luck and lootboxes.

As a Rogue Leader fan the Space Battles mode is amazing.

Rogue Leader is one of my favorite games of all time, so DAMN lol. I guess I need to buy BF2 already. I'm so dismissive of both EA and Star Wars these days I hardly even pay attention.

Dude if Rogue Leader is one of your favourite games you are in for a blast in BF2. This time there's no "lock target" like in BF1, you aim yourself. The flight controls were greatly improved too giving you total freedom in space.

Battles are objective based. I love this one where the clones attack a Core ship from the Separatists, you start the battle outside destroying canons and defenses and then capital ships join the battle and you can even attack the core inside the ship. Is pure star wars

It's EA guys. I have little faith they can do two good Star Wars games in a row. They botched Battlefront 1 and 2 in myriad ways and I'm expecting another MTX fest. My expectations are low so that hopefully I can be pleasantly surprised.

Looks like the last white pilot in the resistance was Wedge

ps: true question now, is there any aliens on the imperial ranks? (except for Thrawn)
The Empire(and Palpatine) is notoriously xenophobic, Thrawn is one of the few aliens in the Empire, period, much less of rank.

I wish so so much I cared about this, because I really would love to be excited and interested in something new for my PSVR. I am just so fucking done with Star Wars as a franchise though.

Well shit. Only thing is I'm still using a 4690k and a GTX1060. I'm not sure this game will do so well, but it's on sale now so I think I'm going to try.

I was really hyped for this until they mentioned that the SP campaign was very short and that the game was mostly MP based. That killed my interest right away.

Are Sony still supporting VR?, not much mention of it on the PS5 reveal.

Of course they're still supporting VR. The highlight of last week's show was the PS5 system itself, along with some of its first games. Throwing VR into that presentation would dilute the message that they want to communicate.

My initial reaction to the announcement of this game was, "Multiplayer focused? Nah, I'm out." Then they announced the PSVR aspect, so now I'm on the fence. For me, the quality and breadth of the single player campaign will decide things for me. No interest whatsoever in multiplayer.

Talk is cheap

Show me that VR goodness, I cant do dick with a cg trailer lads

showing VR gameplay is rough: you get footage recorded from a headcam following all crazy head motions as pilots look around for enemies, with all kinds of shaking and trepidation

better CG

1st person only. No mention of 3rd person flying, along with customizable ship interiors and pilots.

This seems to be going in a quite different direction than Battlefront's style.

A reminder if what's it's like in VR

It takes almost seven and a half minutes before tie fighters show up. Do you have to sit through all that chatter every time or can you skip it and go straight to the good bit? I guess it's just a show piece but what a waste of time!

Yeah, it's awesome in VR, but I have no patience to go through that in non VR though.

Idk why but space battles kinda bore me when there's no loot & plunder attached. Need a purpose for the fight. That's what was so cool about Freelancer & the Egosoft X games, you were also building something and had a universe to explore and exploit. It's just too arcadey otherwise and that gets boring quick.

Huh, I actually unfortunately disliked the space flight in BF2, but I only ever played the SP missions of that game so maybe it worked out better elsewhere or got patched in MP? (To me I could feel in flight that it was a FPS trying to graft in vehicle controls.)

From the video, the flight physics of Squadrons looks way better already, so maybe this game will be the ticket.

One thing I really liked about BF2 was Inferno Squad (well, I mostly liked them because the book was good,) so it's a little surprising it's a brand new Tie squad here, but Inferno's story is already told and I am liking these from-the-Empire's-perspective story ideas.

I like that. IMO, I think flight and racing games both would have turned out better this generation if developers had been able to focus 100% on cockpit views and somehow perfect that camera viewpoint (it's especially great in VR.) To me, DriveClub isn't DriveClub unless you're in the car, and I am hopeful Squadron's camera make me feel the same way.

This could be good. Looks like they've really gone to town with all the upgrades which looked interesting.
The cockpit view might be a problem for me, a lot of the screen is obscured by the cockpit and display, escpecially with the tie fighter, the readout seems to come almost half way up the screen. No crosshairs either? I'm hoping for an outside view and one where you can push the hud right to the edges.

The actual piloting and control of the ship seems much more involved, so yeah, I'm in probably. Until we see what a mission is like all the way through it's hard to tell how well strucktured or dynamic the battles can be.

Looks good but it better have a strong single player campaign or I skip

I grew up with X-Wing then got Tie Fighter then when the mp only X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter came out I got that. That game I never played more than an hour or two. I need the SP

The single player is not that involved from what I'm hearing. Its multiplayer focused and $40, and at that price I wouldn't expect a vast singleplayer. I expect it to be 4 hours tops.
