It’s just some literal torture porn simulator fantasy. Forget the sex scene, the part where Ellie kills a pregnant woman was where I hoped out completely.

And I have friends who have turned into spoiler zealots for this juvenile garbage.

This.

I love games with bleak, dark and oppressive atmosphere. Silent Hill 2, Pathologic, Rule of Rose and Siren are one of my favorite title of all time and all of them tackle some pretty fucked up themes.

TLOU2 is just dark and brutal just for the sake of it. And in trying so hard to shock and repulse it often achieves the opposite effect.

This is how I felt about the game ever since the second trailer for it. Forget all the BS we've learned since the spoilers started. I knew this game looked bad and wrong since we had the stupid torture porn trailer they showed a few years ago.

They’ll just be classed as haters though because ‘look at all the 10’s it got’

Even over in the OT briefly, we’re all haters that don’t like a work of fiction apparently and stay out if we don’t like the game and who the fuck are you replies.

I can't be that ba.....

So I just got to Seattle and I already can tell this will be one of the best gaming experiences I ever had. Every single detail of this game is filled with love and devotion to the craft. The graphics, the characters, the sound, the world, the dialogue. How can you hate on this as a video gamer? This is what we dreamed about back in the day...

And one more side note without spoiling anything: It would have been sooooo easy for ND to go with an easy story solution with part 2. It takes fucking balls of steel to take one of your biggest franchises and do the exact opposite of what fans would expect. Hollywood should take notes! Never take the creative easy way out if you want to deliver something truly unique and outstanding

Holy shit....I finally watched the ending. That was some GOT season 8 level of bad writing. The whole damn game is pointless and contrived. SO GALD I didn't buy this game.

I'm quite enjoying this.

All's a bit better in context, though the writing still has its laughable moments. Context doesn't improve "Bigot sandwiches" whatsoever, and Neil can't help but force this in your face not five minutes after taking control of Ellie. It's literally the first thing you do is go see the bigot to get an apology.....priorities and all, gotta flip the bird to 'dem bigots, right Druckmann? And just as I predicted, it's a white guy. The first few hours are also basically a teen drama soap opera masquerading as a scouting mission. I just finished Joel getting killed and am about the leave for Seattle.

But game's legit mechanically, presentation, and world building wise. I've no complaints, and insofar as to what I desired in gameplay evolution it's hitting all the marks and is looking to be even better as the game progresses. I have to say, ND are masters of their craft even if they're led by an ideological hack. Too bad he compromises his own talent with this shit, but then again, we'd not all have the good laughs if he didn't do so.

GOT season 8 level out of character too.

1. Abby kills Joel in brutal fashion in the most dumb way because revenge
2. Ellie is super pissed and sets off for revenge
3. Ellie murders everyone in her path and stops at nothing
4. Ellie gets her ass kicked by Abby but still wants revenge
5. Ellie almost kills Abby but stops at the last minute to spare her life....because she misses Joel playing the guitar?
6. Ellie is sad, depressed and alone

W.T.F!!

Dumbass Druckmann said he wanted to make a revenge story...kind of overdone, but okay...problem though...you gotta have revenge take place for it to be a fucking revenge story.

Ya know what was an awesome revenge movie? Django Unchained, because everyone fucking gets killed! Revenge stories are only satisfying for audiences if the protagonist gets revenge. God I hate that this shithead had so much money behind him.

Positive User Reviews are sometimes more hilarious than the negative ones

This game changed my life.
I understand some people only want to play Fortnite, that's fine, but this game is the future of gaming. Character development is quite usual actually. It's nice to play a new game, if I wanted the old one, I would just play it again. Which I do. Some fans just want the same thing over and over again.

Screw you X_f_a_g_s Clem told me this is the best game of the decade!!
You xbox people always try to downplay our great games, go home and play Ori 2 idiots.

All it takes is a little push for Ellie to go mad and her quest for revenge story is a brutalistic masterpiece. Do I need to say more? Play the damn game and fully experience a masterfully crafted sequel that will keep you on the edge of your seat and witness the sheer brutality that needs to be played. The first game is all about love, and the sequel is all about hate and you can see why how rare TLOU2 is compared to the first game and it’s unbelievable. Everything ranging from the newly fleshed acessibility gameplay mechanics all the way to the superb writing by Neil Druckmann and Westworld’s Halley Gross is pure excellence. Naughty Dog, this is easily your guys’ best work since Uncharted 2 and there is a reason why you guys are the top underdogs in the gaming business on delivering the very best experience as possible and I hope you guys get royally compensated for creating this incredible follow-up masterpiece. No wonder why HBO’s The Last of Us is happening with Neil Druckmann and Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin on-board for the live adaptation..
Playing from start to finish with our emotions, this suite constantly oscillates between waking dreams, where the tenderness of an exchange frozen forever in the distant past will be enough to move us, and brutality of the present time inseparable from a ripe way of the cross by an implacable feeling of revenge. Making the unpredictable a norm, overflowing with creativity through moments imbued with delicacy, this suite surprises and makes us think about the consequences of our actions while mistreating us emotionally. Having refined its gameplay, now much more immersive, this part II stands out as a fabulous action / infiltration title but also and above all as a story, sometimes getting lost in some narrative stretches and other superfluous scenes but never deviating from its guideline dedicated to offering its characters a conclusion, whether happy or not. Like all creations bearing the mark of their authors, The Last of Us Part II will provoke debates, reactions, which, like its protagonists, remains terribly human. Whether we like it or not, there remains a major work here that will haunt us several days after we finish it and which we now say as the new example to follow in its field or more simply as a breathtaking, heartbreaking and magnificent story to that time.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
About two hours in and there’s a lot to like here.

Unfortunately, there’s also a lot of mediocrity, too, and it seems to have evaded most critics...shocking, I know.
  • As others have stated, the AI is lackluster.
  • The encounters, so far, seem like a breeze.
  • Molotovs are so overpowering that I generally don‘t feel apprehensive about the enemies.
  • ”Bigot sandwich” made me exclaim, “who is writing this shit?’
I’m going to play this all day tomorrow, but I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to lose interest quickly. Not as quickly as Death Stranding, but I can feel it happening, which sucks.

In your 2 hours, how much of the adventure of Joel and Ellie have you had? Are you playing together at the beginning for example?

Eh, you can absolutely do a revenge story with the *back away before completing it* ending.

The problem is you would need to understand the meaning of subtlety and be a decent enough writer to walk a tightrope in how you present characters and storytelling. Which Neil *Brains: 100* Druckmann is nowhere close to.

Maybe you're right, it's not my favorite genre. I only like the ones where the bad guy gets what's coming to them. Fuck Abby, she should've been killed from the moment she steps into the game.

This got a 10/10 from some outlets.

I don't think there has ever been a more tangible example of why the mainstream gaming press has absolutely no spine when it comes to reviews.
Or the fact that they're just as immature, if not moreso than their audience can be in some ways. "Game look pretty...look like movie...must be 10 out of 10 because I don't have to do much work to get through it."

So... Enemy tension seems to be gone? Joel got one stealth kill tutorial prompt against a clicker in a building, then thrust into a firefight at the docks if I recall.

I've just spent 5 mins climbing/jumping around on rocks, squeezing through rock walls, and literally zig-zagging my way behind Runners stealth killing them. I feel like James Woods in Family Guy. "ooo a piece of candy!" every two seconds with these stealth kills.

New movement mechanics seem fine, nicely fitted-into the TLOU formula instead of it feeling like TLOU movement has given way to Uncharted or COD or something. But the enemy placement/intelligence and story pacing is proper fucked.

I don't have time to read 105 pages. I know the spoilers, but my main question now is should i not buy it now or should i not buy it later?

Also, how is MP? Any legacy maps redone? I still play TLOU MP to this day and have been looking forward to buying this game for years as well as looking forward to not buying it for a month on top of that.

There's no MP yet. AFAIK. Purely single-player. Maybe with DLC or Patches.

I would say in a week or two there will be several million copies at gamestop from people that have played it once and already know they will not replay it.
Millions of copies of item on gamestop shelves probably means the pre-OWNED price will be , what is it called, affordable.

Speaking of autoduelist autoduelist I wonder how many first game fans will buy this and realize it doesn't have multiplayer.

To all who have responded...

Holy shit. I have no words. I'm probably level 999 three times over on TLOU, easy. I would have bought this game twice [ps4, ps5] in a heartbeat before the spoilers just for survivor mode.

I guess that's $120 i will spend on other pursuits, i guess.

Does Neil Druckman have anything to do with the Uncharted series? If Sony lets him further defile their franchises i'm an unhappy camper.

I think I read/saw something recently that he basically strong-armed his way into a creative lead position with Uncharted 4...that explains why we got the annoying and "empowering" bitch Nadine who kicked Nate's ass every time they had an encounter. Because that's what we want to see the hero do, constantly lose to someone annoying henchman.
