It’s fair to be skeptical. I personally am happy to have the entire Halo and Forza/Horizon series as well as upcoming entries. Combine that with Ori and Gears and I’m a pretty happy camper.
Then there’s the BC, that lets me have some of my all time favorite games;

Oblivion
Metal Gear Solid 3
Soul Calibur 2
SSX 3
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
I get Sony has awesome games that shouldn’t be missed. Uncharted 4 was one of my favorite experiences of this gen. And I really loved Ratchet and Clank.
But at the end of the day, I don’t think people can go wrong with either console.

Im going on record to say, I can guarantee they won't be able to use the ol "Xbox has no games" mantra come next gen. B'lee dat!Obviously they're NOT 6 or 7 games. If Mr Metacritic wants to go by scores, Outer Worlds and Gears 5 outscored Sony's Death Stranding & Days Gone (which is a game that DID score 6s & 7s at 71). but they're Xbox games so of course they can't be good
Both Forza MS and Horizon ARE huge and outscore and outclass everything else in racing, but like Sony and Nintendo games they aren't my taste so I won't be playing them either which is why I didn't include them.
I did forget about the Initiative game, but we know nothing about it yet, and there's also Grounded from Obsidian and I'm probably still forgetting some games we know about and there are probably a bunch we don't know about yet. I think next gen the Sony fanboys are going to need to find a new song because I don't think "Xbox has no games" is going to work for them anymore.

Xbox is also capturing mobile gaming market and targetting new demographics. IMO Xbox will beat sony gaming divison in revenues and profitability very soon.

I will say this, again on this thread PS5 is most likely a 100$ cheaper, 9tf machine. Playstation fans should be happy about the competition that xbox is gonna bring in terms of consoles' vfm and exclusives.

I think too many got sucked into the MS is going after services and the console is an afterthought line of thinking that some people tried to spread around here. They weren’t ready to see MS go in deep on the specs for the next Xbox.
It’s a bit of shock and awe, and now they are hoping Sony went balls deep enough to match it.
Using Dev kit specs has always been a fools errand and it seems so far, they have been throwing out more decoys, so I hope when Sony does announce they are straight forward about it and all these arguments can be put to rest.

If gaming industry was to be controlled by exclusives, you would have copycat versions of GoW, HZD made the very next day. Just like there is one for Breath of wild.

The biggest selling games are always the multplatform games and the most powerful console will sell more of them, simple as that. Yes exclusives are amazing on both systems but there was a reason the PS4 sold so well

That might be their main focus as X is also centered around power (slogan: feel true power).
I love it honestly because we've done the catering to the mass since the beginning of console gaming (except fat PS3).
I'm curious about the gaming division's cashflow, they seem to have a hand in a lot of things, xCloud, GamePass, Live and all that.
Even if the same service it's available on more than 1 platform/device (in the case of Live), surely they get money from that also.
Despite losing the generation in terms of sales vs. X360, they seem mighty healthy if not rich, if it goes back into studio acquisition then more power to them.

Series S $299 *mic drop* same performance as PS5 with full RDNA 2
Microsoft: cheapest console with same performance as PS5 for people that don’t have much money. AND best performance for hardcore gamers, more expensive than Sony, but still best performance giving hardcore (very vocal gamers) what they want!
$200 difference between the two SKUs. One low-end and one HIGH END PREMIUM price SKU. No way that people get confused. No way.

With Xbox you will get the Xbox one Version of the game FOR FREE on series X if you bought it.

You have to look at things like gamepass and xboxlive where they have a steady cash flow coming in. The console sold well despite what people tell you, 50 million is nothing to be sniffed at, also people still playing on the 360 with Xbox live so there is money off that even if they don’t have an Xbox one.
Don’t forget as well even though the PS4 has sold mega numbers Sony as a company are not mega rich, a few years ago they were struggling and the PS4 helped with the cash flow. Both company’s are well off but just because the PS4 sold mega numbers doesn’t mean the company has mega money to spend off that

I wouldn’t call Sony anti consumer tbh, but when Microsoft does something good it gets called out here a lot. Example with gamepass, people talk how it’s bad for the industry and what not when it’s god for gamers.

I'm aware that nd, guerrila etc are gonna challenge microsoft first party graphics even with 9 tf because they are magicians, but most of games today are multy, so power does matter for hardcore gamers.

Exactly. I doubt even with 12 TF most games next gen will look better than Gears 5 on an Xbox One X today. But having that power sure makes it a lot easier for them to get there and ensures to not have to accept sub native resolutions or fps issues. This is a machine built to play the best looking and performing version of multiplatform titles like CoD, GTA, Elder Scrolls. First party games will follow (simply because it is cheaper for Microsoft to fill Game Pass with first party content than with third party content), but they aren't the reason why this machine exists.
