Ninja Theory New IP Bleeding Edge Trailer Leaked (Spoiler from MS E3 Conference)

Well, that does absolutely nothing for me.

I hope MS is getting some use out of those Hellblade performance capture tools, because they aren't going to make back their investment with output like this... not at $60 a pop at least.

On the other hand, this is exactly the sort of portfolio filler that will work well with a subscription service. People will give it a shot because, hey, it's all part of the package, so maybe cynic-me is wrong and this will be a big hit. *shrug*
I don't think Hellblades performance capture tools were that expensive. In fact I think the good thing about them was that they were cheap. MS will likely make back the investment easily because they will use a steady flow of games like this to stop people from unsubscribing from gamepass.

Ninja Theory does Anarchy Reigns. How about that.

The art style is a bit edgepunk for my tastes, but I applaud anyone ballsy enough to take a shot at multiplayer melee.
Yeah, I could just dig out my copy of Anarchy Reigns.

I honestly wanted something more from them.

Surely AR's multiplayer is dead these days though? I found out about it way after the fact so never actually got a copy, but always wanted to try it.

I'll admit that this wasn't what I was expecting from NT given their history of single-player stuff.

Ugh, this looks horrible.

Why not let these studios make the games they WANT to make? Hellblade was cool. Why "Xboxify" them and make them make an online PvP game because you think that's all Xbox gamers want?

If they destroy Obsidian like they destroyed Rare, I'm going to be pissed.
I'm pretty certain this was in development before MS acquired them. Give it a break, jeez!

I’m almost certain it has an offline mode. I haven’t booted it up in years.

My only take on this one is why not a single player game? Aren’t this what Xbox players wants? Aren’t all the acquisitions were made to have single player games? This is weird
They probably have one (or more) single player game in development but you're not going to see it before E3 2020.

Not my kind of game AT ALL, but this was supposedly indevelopment long before Microsoft bought them. In fact i remember on the Hellblade Steam forums, one of the devs said their next game was a 'next gen online melee game', or something to that effetc, and that was months before Microsoft bought them.
In fact i'll see if i can find it now.

EDIT. Cant find the source of the quote, but this is what was posted, 4 months before Microsoft bought them -

Next game in developement?

Words of Ninja Theory:
"[...] We are aiming to set the bar for next-generation melee action

Not a fan of the character style. Like at all.

Then again i was never a fan of Ninja Theory's character designs.

Just to put some peoples concern trol....minds at ease, this is an interview from 2 months before Microsoft bought them -

"This year, I think we'll start showing some new stuff," Antoniades tells me. "We have 100 people...working on a mix of projects on different sizes and different themes. Some in VR, some in traditional. It's quite a good mix actually." I ask if the success of Hellblade means Antoniades feels any pressure to explore serious subjects in Ninja Theory's next game. "I think that's more down to my own personal interest. We've got other projects on the go, led by different team members who have their own personal slant on what they want to do, and they're not serious subjects, they are much more fun, traditional games if you like.

People acting like a melee based hack and slash pvp game isn't dope as hell are fucking nuts.

Buying a high quality single player developer to end up making GAAS tier games is not what I had in mind from Microsoft...

Except this game was in development for years. i'ts like Kamiya coming out and saying MS wasn't at fault for Scalebound wasn't enough.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
There is just so many multiplayer games nowadays, that a new entry has to be incredibly special to succeed. I didn’t see anything that looked promising there.

Didn't watch the trailer cause I don't want spolers but if it is an online 4v4 or 3v3 similar to for honor I'm in, I'm totally in.

MS : We're buying studios so more games for the fans
Xbox fans : Oh hell yeah Ninja Theory was a good buy can't wait for their SP game, The Initiative will match Naughty Dog quality SP games!
Sony fans : Ninja Theory is mediocre, bad buy for MS
Bleeding Edge : Leaked video
Xbox fans : Oh hell yeah this is what we wanted, looks fucking awesome, can't wait Day 1!!! *Pretends to ignore no SP story mode*
Sony fans : Looks bad, so much for buying NT, lol

Looks like another lawbreakers, battleborn or agents of mayhem. Meaning, dead on arrival.

Don't find it all that appealing. Then again majority of their games are just okay imo.

Demigod is it at all possible for you to post something that isnt console war related?

I had higher expectations of ninja theory than this. I mean i thought Microsoft wanted Sony level exclusives but it feels like it's a very simple experience. Not when I had in mind when Phil said they're going big.

So how did this leak?

Looks kind of mediocre but I would like to see some actual gameplay first.

As it is it just seems like a hero shooter that doesn't have any personality like overwatch and I doubt its got the gameplay to make up for it. I want to be into the aesthetic but it just seems so... mashed together?

Not my cup of tea, but good for those that are into this type of game. The only competitive game I've been able to stick with lately is still Rocket League.

Honestly, this game is anti-hype as fuck.

The onus is on Microsoft to prove themselves on Sunday. I hope they get that...
