It'd be hard to reshoot the scenes of Barry and his dad, though, since Ezra is busy this summer with Fantastic Beasts 2. Probably more likely they just cut those scenes altogether.

The first guy was never officially announced IIRC, and WB dropped him for lack of experience. Different from Rick where he left due to creative differences.

It speaks to the interest people have for these movies (both good and bad) that anyone cares about Billy Crudup right now. The false rumor of him bailing on a movie without a director even has generated more interest in Crudup than anything he's done in years.
