Will be a bloodthirsty fight
Not a chance. Sonic will never compete with what looks like an incredibly made Mario movie.

I have a friend who owns theatres here in Canada. Theatres have the full cut apparently, and says it's going to print money.

Mario. I mean how is that even a question. Every kid and their mother anticipating that movie and even if it bomb in reviews it will still make a better impact than a zombie show.
TLoU isn't a Zombie show. It's a tv series that has Zombies. In no world is TLoU in the same category as the Walking Dead, because TLoU isn't about the Zombies. They are just the impediment. at least, imo.

Agreed on neither of them really affecting culture though.

This just shows you never actually watched Walking Dead.

I know it might be a bit off-topic but I personally can't wait to watch the new Dungeons and Dragons movie!

Mario is a soulless corporate Minions dumb kids movie made for kids and man children. TLOU show was pretty sick aside from all the explicit gay sex. Just a little gay sex would have been fine but phew jesus

How are you going to call something soulless before praising TLoU, a game with some of the most soulless characters in existence? It took me seven years, over nearly three console generations, to finish that game because the characters were dreadfully bad and the story went absolutely nowhere. I avoided spoilers for nearly a decade for nothing to happen.

I'd never watch the show or touch the sequel.

Meanwhile, the Mario universe is full of charm whether there are "soulless corporate minions" behind them or not. Who do you think is behind TLoU, Sony, HBO etc.?

TLOU went by with nary an impact. Maybe it'll pick up some awards but no-one gives a shit about that any more. All Mario has to do is have some lines or screenshots turned into memes and it'll have a larger cultural impact than TLOU.
Well, that was a lot of nonsense. TLoU is literally up there with HotD for viewers. Some real edgelords on here wanna pretend TLoU is NBD.
Cultural impact? I dont think cultural impact is something a Mario movie can make.
But quality wise the Mario movie will blow TLOU out of the water.

At least, it looks like it have been made with love and respect for the IP and its audience. Which TLOU did not.
TLOU was incredibly faithful to the source material, so either you didn't watch the show, or you didn't play the game.
No. Mario is for kids.
No, no he isn't. Mario is for everyone, and 36 years later he's still the star of some of the best games of every generation.
The latest Mario trailer feature so little of Mario talking that the writing is on the wall... it's gonna be ass
The latest trailer was fire, and the movie will make bank. Also, Pratt sounded great as Mario.

Jesus, this foru, is just full of edgelords.

"Dreadfully bad" games and characters don't sell 40m copies BEFORE becoming a popular tv show. TLoU is one of the best narrative driven games out there.

Your projection game is sad, Funk. Try again and see reality for once.
Touch grass homie. 40 year old women in my workplace with 6 year old children are watching this show. Tons of people in the LGBTQ community are watching this show for representation purposes first and then realizing it's a legit awesome story. Incels watch this show because they love to hate it, and wide swathes in the middle. It's bigger than House of the Dragon (cited) and with a lot more to say on social commentary. The fact that it is factually this popular just means haters like you with an axe to grind look all the more foolish.

Walking Dead was great at the beginning and unwatchable at the end. It became safe, boring and predictable, with PLENTY of zombie killing montage murder porn. Lets hope the Last of Us doesn't suffer the same fate (we know it won't).

I know people who have never picked up a controller in their life who are into TLOU. Monday morning more people at work were discussing this than the Oscars. It is big.

Mario looks like a good time like the Lego film. I don’t give a rats arsehair about Mario’s story but I expect it to break all the records for animated films

Mario already has a cultural impact. It doesn’t need the movie

TLOU’s cultural impact was now elevated to one of the biggest shows on HBO which is a massively impressive feat

Yeah, a ton of soccer moms at the school I teach at were non-stop talking about TLOU for the past 7-9 weeks.

Which one will have the bigger cultural impact? TLOU is a critically acclaimed tv series that has drawn in lots of viewers and not just the traditional gamer. Mario Bros film has yet to be released, but is seen as more general audience friendly. Of course the movie could bomb like the 1993 one. Video game adaptations to the big screen doesn't always work out well, but maybe that could all change with this one. So which one will have the bigger cultural impact when it's all said and done?

I've only seen a little bit of TLOU, but, I wouldn't pay to watch it, even though I think it's pretty good. Mario movie, though.... I plan on taking someone to see it; PAY to see it.
I think Mario movie will make a bigger impact on which IP would benefit the most from their respective movie/show crossovers and have the bigger cultural impact.

Azelover

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Good one.

I think probably Mario, provided that the film is actually good

not tag worthy
Mario movie because if it's a success Nintendo will create more movies based on Their games etc. This could mean Nintendo branching out to other areas of entertainment they got theme parks now. Maybe they become the japanese Disney.

I'm hoping for a decent Mario movie, but I'm not too optimistic. The trailer seems to cram in too many elements from the video games, like the kart racing. I hope this doesn't come at the expense of the story, and I also wish they had chosen a different animation studio than Illumination. I'm keeping my expectations low, which might give the movie a chance to surprise me.

I watched the first few seasons, but as it got worst (it was never great) I dropped off, out by Season 3. I know it was very popular, but it's absolutely another shitty zombie show.

I don't like the show either, only watched it due to my ex. However, the zombies were always background - which was the argument. Walking Dead was more about Zombies than it was about living in a ruined world with zombies in it. This simply is not true and never has been.
