Updated XBOX Console Prices

At this point in time, who would even buy an xbox and why? Buy a switch 2 if you already have a playstation. It will probably be supported for a long time.

I think the nuclear strategy of sony on price hike, we may not like it, but its much better and flexible for price adjustment for anytime they can make a price cut or sale around Christmas season

Bad news for now, but eventually a bunch of factories will be built in China producing a ridiculous amout of ram modules for cheap, but it will take time for that to happen.

So next 2 - 3 yrs will be pretty bad, but eventually it will reverse course for the better. It will be interesting to see which tech companies survives at that point.

I'll say it. Everybody on the fence - go get a Switch 2 ASAP. It's better than a Series S, the future is way brighter, and it's also cheaper… and who on earth is trusting Microsoft on anything at all right now. Even diehard fans have to be concerned. I'm fortunate to have multiple consoles and handhelds and as of yesterday, a PC, but Switch 2 right now looks like a steal in this climate. If I didn't have one, I would if it was at all financially feasible to do so.
Go get switch 2 quickly because they will also increase the price in the near future except Japan which they subsidize

Yep. I've held off but we already know the Switch 2 is going up $50 in September. $450 for it now is suddenly a "steal". Honestly there's still so far no games on the system I care about but OoT is coming and eventually there will be some other must play games. Best to buy it now just to have it before they decide to up the price again.

This is just depressing. I can't even imagine a next-gen being greenlit at this point.
It will be greenlit with even bigger certainlty, coz who u think those companies want and need to make majorty their cash on? Casuals that refuse to pay 800$ for xbox? Its all up to us, hardcore gamers, moving at the bleeding edge of industry, its called bleeding edge coz u gotta bleed money to survive there :)

The cadence of price increases for Series consoles seems to be a fairly unique thing tho?

May 2025: +$80/+$100
September 2025: +$20/+$50/+$70
August 2026: +$100/+$150

My thought is they are much more exposed to increasing memory prices because they are producing almost nothing. Sony and Nintendo are still producing many millions of units and have some leverage.

Outside of the US (and UK?), it's been impossible to find either the Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X for a year now. Only a few stores or retailers offer it, and even then, they have waiting lists. Not even the official Xbox store has any consoles available. However, Xbox ROG Ally consoles are available on retailers.

Basically, the stock they manufacture is allocated to the US and UK(?).
Its always been like that. Xbox LONG ago pulled out of other markets...which is probably a big reason their growth has been so damn bad this gen.

This timeline totally sucks and I am not even planning on buying Xbox Next or PS.

I've been a multiplatform gamer since the days of Atari, Intellivision, and Colecovision. I've come to the sad conclusion that this is likely my last truly multiplatform generation. Next generation I'm only going to be able to afford one. Sad, but I suppose it was inevitable.

Yeah, I am planning to stick with my 5080 and 64GB RAM PC for a long time.

There is no way I am going to spend $1000+ for consoles that don't even have good exclusives that I am interested in.

I bought a Series X for $350 with Diablo 4 then sold it a year later because I wasn't using it much because of my PC. Big brain move there. On a positive note I rolled the money into a PS5 Pro and 2TB SSD addon, and I have a 9070XT PC for Xbox games, so it all worked out in a way. I think.

Yep, they dragged price increases out as long as they could too. Basically everyone is screwed. I expect Sony to try and hold out through the Holidays but we will see.

PS6 might be higher than $1000 after all.

Right and no one in the consumer space could've dragged this out as long as they did so if they are folding its.. dare a say "over" lol

It's funny..

Yep, if even Apple's supply chain prowess is insufficient everybody we are all f-d.

Microcenter is awesome but I suspect their bundles and relatively decent pre-built deals are going to end for the most part.

Helix is now a $3000 device
That pc has same or better specs than rumored helix console in every scenario, including 32gigs of fast ddr5, 5080 with its 16gigs of vram(so total 48gigs), 2tb ssd, cpu that will put to shame next gen console cpu even if its zen6 based.
And its still priced at 2,5k$- retail price to final consumer like u or me :)
If MS did helix based on that, provided it ordered solid amount(20m+) of units, it will be no more than 1999$, who knows maybe 1499$...

Just saw Apple increased their prices too. If even Apple are being forced, you can bet Sony are a couple days/weeks away from doing it too. Everything is cooked even more than before.
