I believed in João das Tretas :'(
At least on the part like "I know shit's expensive in Brazil, but let's try to make a fair price and all".
I live here too, unless you are talking about used parts or black market there is just no way. If you go to a regular store half your budget will be spent just on a high-end GPU.Yes, you can.
Even here in Brazil.

Let's be honest here: why would you buy anything in a regular store?
This. I didn't believe in a R$1000 price tag but I was expecting it to be at least the same price as the XONE.
Screw you Sony. At that price, XONE will be the console of choice around here.
You can build a PC with specs way better than PS4 for less than 4k if you search for the best deals in stores like Kabum, Balaodainformatica, Londritech and Mercadolivre.com (Brazilian Ebay) and many others.
I live here too and I know how to spend my money here.
The same goes for the PS4 then.
A PC better than the PS4 isn't a killer PC.
No they're not lol. Sure they don't make things easier but 1850? Hell no.This is your government causing this. These high prices are a result of their policies and laws.
I believe Massa will sell PS4s on Mercado Livre for HUGE profits.
I intend to do something similar. I'll get some PS4s from the US for U$399 each and then resell it here for ~R$1,500.
The buyer will be happy, and I'll be even happier.
My hype for the PS4 is severely shaken too, but It's to early to assume that it's Sony's fault. There's something definitely fishy about this price tag.

It's very unfortunate.

Brazil seems to be the only country where the PC gamers are the gaming peasants.
That's what Sony hopes people will think.
Fortunately we have Microsoft aroudn to prove it's not the government's fault.

I'm picturing a plane flying back and forth between countries like drug trafficking contraband. Gotta have a pilot though! You got a sale in me, pal.
how much would it cost if you import it from US ?
so, if your calculations are correct, where does the extra almost 50% of total cost (1055$ to 1850$) comes from?
No its not. Being very negative, with all the taxes and a very decent (high) profit margin, it would cost R$2500,00. The estimated price (still with all the taxes and profit) would cost about R$1800,00.
It is impossible to justify this price. They're stealing from us with a high and abusive price; just like everything else in Brasil that is hard to import and with a high demand!
Good. Less clueless scrubs spamming HUEHUEHUE and BRBRBRBR online.
joking

Sure!
Xbone - U$499 - R$2.200
PS4 - U$399 - R$3.999
We got several options. We can got to Paraguay, we can buy it from importers that don't give a shit about official prices - the ONLY fucking time I'm so fucking glad Brazil has no sort of MSRP, retailers charge whatever the fuck they want for whatever the fuck they want - and we can just import ourselves. This price won't last nonetheless because no one will pay for this shit aside from rich people with money to burn.Ewwww. Sorry BrazilGAF. What are your other cheapest options? You could always wait it out for a price drop? Ps3 has life in it? There has to be a reason for exorbitant price yeah?
So does Sony?As others have already mentioned, and apparently you've chosen to ignore, Microsoft makes the Xbox in Brazil, which means they don't pay import taxes.
Sony did not just decide they really want to fuck over Brazil.
