The Wispy Scoundrel said:So what rank are you all? I'll be exchanging my broken disc tomorrow, and after finishing up a whole bunch of coursework, will be jumping straight back in to the gaming goodness that is Halo 3.
I'm a 47 in double team and a 46 in Team slayer. Racked up 1,525 kills with the battle rifle.
Overall -
Total Matches: 562 Games
Kills : 7919
Deaths : 5564
K/D Ratio : 1.42
I want to play with you guys. Anyone a 50 yet?
GhaleonEB said:Has Bungie ever said which is correct, the number of online players displayed in matchmaking of Halo 3, or on Bungie.net? Halo 3 usually shows about 2x the number that bungie.net does. Right now the game says 463k players online, while the site shows 193k. The latter sounds more plausable, and I recall that the number of online players was doubled on bungie.net for a bit by error, so it could be the same way in Halo 3, just not corrected yet.
These are the things I ponder while Live works feverishly to retrieve my data.

Cool...this weekend I will try to put up a detailed layout of the map like some of the others on this thread...urk said:Not right now. Luke is taking suggestions on how to make the sharing options better on B.net.

besada said:You can post it as available on Bungie.NET and there's a forum which lists new variants/maps. Not sure if anyone reads it, though.

Now almost never, Im waiting for BTB to be rank to make a comeback.
We used to play 8+ player games of King on Midship.urk said:Joy Pit was King of the Hill on Foundation where you would spawn at one of the four base rooms with an SMG and a couple frags and just hurl yourself over and over again into the lone hill right smack in the middle of the map, your corpse exploding in a permanent volley of grenades and fusion coils.

Also, what's the deal with when you're forging with 2 people on the same console, and one person selects for example "Fusion Core", then the other plays menu defaults to Fusion Core? That's like the biggest fucking annoyance ever.

Thanks, that makes sense. My skillz updated shortly after I posted, and my e-peins is now 22.Stinkles said:Just the man keeping you down.
As for the online population vs Bnet numbers discrepancy. It is as some have pointed out, the difference in unique gamertags vs. guests with some data lag and general innacuracy thrown in for bad measure. All numbers should be considered estimates. But they should be pretty close to correct.
Do you know the auto-forwarding trick so you don't have to hold your controller and sit by the TV?GhaleonEB said:Thanks, that makes sense. My skillz updated shortly after I posted, and my e-peins is now 22.
Random note: If there's one request I have for DLC/updates, it is the ability to add the ability to take clips in Campaign. You guys have talked about the technical hurdles preventing the inclusion before, so I'm not holding my breath. It came up last night after a lengthy co-op game, where the two of us had a terrifying yet utterly hilarious encounter with the Chieftain at the end of The Ark. I saved it to cull some screens from tonight, but it was at the very end of an hour-long run, so there's some fast-forwarding ahead.
I hope I don't FF too far, or I have to start over.I'm a jerk.
Yup. But I don't use that, because then I'll definately go to far by virture of not paying attention. The computer is in the same room (den) as the TV, so I just surf while holding the trigger. Not a big deal really, but it's one of those little quirks in an othewise incredible feature that has me saying, "if only I could...."Tieno said:Do you know the auto-forwarding trick so you don't have to hold your controller and sit by the TV?
Hold the Right Trigger, press start, release the right trigger, press start again. Should be auto forwarding by itself at whatever speed you held the right trigger.
I was in that boat until recently. It's almost alarming how much a few skulls and a co-op partner changes how the game plays.Darunia said:Upon replaying the campaign missions for metagame highscores, it struck me again how incredible they are. I don't understand why people complained about the campaign, for me it's easily the best of the three games. It perfects the formula and the 'samey' level design people complained about is practically gone. The structures in The Ark were very similar to eachother and Crow's Nest wasn't such a great location, but apart from that... very diverse and so fun to play. It was also for the first time that I actually observed the Brute team mechanic and smirked when I heard a Chieftain say something along the lines of 'you flush him out, pack brother' and watched the hierarchy in the Brute lineage in action. The Brute pack in Crow's Nest is one of my favorites. When you stay behind the perfect metal shelter for too long, some Brutes will eventually come and get you and even destroy the cover.
I'd go so far as to say that missions like The Storm, Ark and Covenant are the very peak of the series. Whoever designed the structure and variation for The Covenant deserves a feather on his hat. Also, Sierra 117? Best first mission in a shooter I've played. I keep coming back to it. I will say though that like many, I'm not a fan of the Cortana level. I'm postponing my playthrough of that and I did the same on my heroic run. It's a shame because they balanced the appearance of the Flood so well in the game, until you once again had your fill of them in that mission.
It's the third time I'm playing through these missions and even after completing the metagames I can't wait to play this game in co-op on legendary (I haven't even played the game on co-op thus far - gasp)

As an aside, I'd love to be able to take pictures and clips when viewing a film with a friend, currently its write all the interesting times down then go through it all again on my own to get the clips, slightly annoying.manxor said:I would greatly welcome Campaign clips!!
I have a greater desire for clips of Campaign than clips of MP, as MP games are much shorter than Campaign games (in general).
urk said:We played your three-level map last night. Nice stuff dude, but I was left wishing that there was more variation so you could have distinguished each section a little bit better. Up top is no problem, but I heard a lot of "where the hell am I" while I was scrambling to get my own bearings. Maybe you could fix it up with cones or other objects to set each area off from the others. Dunno.
I believe that you get credit for the kill if you hit another player before they do something that would normally count as a suicide. I think it believes you were the cause of the person falling to their death so it gives you credit for the kill. This happens to me a lot on Guardian.Darunia said:Can you guys figure this one out? I had the weirdest double kill just now. I shot one guy with the RL, then out of the blue double kill pops up. I switch the view to the second guy I supposedly killed, who flew from a mancannon right into someone else. He fell to his death but I was the culprit apparently. Watch it: last movie on the list
Floodgate is my favorite Flood level too; however, the pure Flood levels are still my least favorite levels in the series. The main reason I like the level is due to the atmosphere. There is always a lot of praise for Halo 3's lighting, but in that level Bungie really hit the ball out of the park.GhaleonEB said:In the middle of that stretch is Floodgate, which is the perfect Flood level: it's intense, moody and short; it feels more like an intermission than a full level. Sierra 117 is an introduction and Cortana/Halo is the coda to a very satisfying middle.
Epic fast-forward complete. First, a moment of Ghaleon's brillaint Campaign tactics.squicken said:Yeah. The Ark is like an hour long for we noobs, and all I want is the last 2 minutes. And a way to add my girlish squeals.
I love fighting Hunters with the below skull list. It takes FOREVER to take them down. So awesome.DD-11 said:Sweet pics Ghaleon. I have never fought an enemy as fun as the chiefs (yes, much better than Elites). Playing on legendary with a couple skulls on is an incredible experience. Bungie nailed it.
