I wish Halo 3 was in 60fps.
Last night I finished campaign co-op on Legendary with Ghaleon, had a ton of fun. Only problem is I didn't get the achievement for finishing, even though we did the entire campaign together. Any ideas why I didn't get it? The only thing I can think of is that we switched hosting from level to level, but aside from that I don't see why I didn't get the achievement.

it's usually the first level, Arrival or not. Check the campaign for the levels and see if there's any level that doesn't have that Grunt Skull(Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert) stamped on the side of it and complete that particular place.

edit:This thread has made to the 666th page. Welcome To Hell!

That's another possibility I was thinking. When I started with Ghaleon, we skipped the first cinematic and instead started the mission.

So will I just have to complete that level again, from the beginning cinematic, in order to get the Legendary achievement?

I think you just have to watch the opening cinematic...ON LEGENDARY!

Found a thread at a banned site (thing gamestop but with a letter swapped) that said the same thing - watch the opening cinematic on Legendary. If Sierra 117 doesn't have the legendary icon on it, we'll need to do the level over including the Arrival cinemtic.

Which is rather silly.

No, I don't think so. Arrival has a seperate shield from Sierra 117. If you started Legendary on Sierra 117 you should have the legendary shield for that level.

It's tougher then it sounds. Believe
I remember when TGS finished our Legendary/Skulls run none of us got the achievement. Thats what we forgot to do. Thermite was pissed cause he couldn't skip it.

Ah good times.

EDIT: Awesome video

That video really shows why Halo 3 is so fucking fantastic, so much crazy, awesome and uncanned stuff happens.

Love how the video plays on the beat and flow of the song, he does some really cool stuff with that. Probably went a ton of work into this, looks very professional.

I didn't realize that. We definately didn't watch Arrival.

SOLDIER - finish the fight by kicking back and watching the opening of the game. Should be very climactic. :lol

You must not love the smell of cutscene.

Easiest achievement ever!
I thought you had already finished the game on legendary, did you never get the achievement for that?

Just watched the video. It was really good. I would agree that the random chaos that occurs in Halo3 is a big part of the fun.

Would it be a a fair assessment to say that you don't have as much of that in CoD4(random chaos)? The craziest thing that has ever happened to me in CoD4 is maybe a random grenade that gets thrown across the map and I just happen to be running by when it explodes. Other than that, there really aren't that many surprises. CoD4 is still a good game and I'm not trying to start a CoD4 vs. Halo3 argument. It was just a random thought.

I think that's perfectly fair. As much as I'm enjoying COD4 right now, I know I'll end up playing Halo 3 for a much longer amount of time for that very reason. Halo's the sort of game where you'll talk about some of that random stuff that happened the other night with your (also Halo fans obviously) mates in the pub. As great a game as COD4 is, I don't have that level of connection with it.

The guy should definitely make a campaign montage to another Prodigy song. With co-op you can still get the crazy jumping to another player camera effect to play with. It'll just take a lot longer to make given the lack of instant rewind/replayabilty .

I apologize for the n00biness of this question, as I could probably find out by reading the manual but I'm sorta busy tidying the house for tonight...

Is it possible to play campaign more over split screen + system link? 2 players on one TV, and 2P on the other?

TIA!

Wow that Halo movie with the Prodigy music has GREAT camera work!

Yeah, the few games I've played of CoD4 were fun, but overall, the game lacks the moments that Halo has.

Yes. It's possible.

I did, but I played through solo. SOLDIER and I did it over the course of the last week in co-op, partly because neither of us had done co-op, and partly to help him get the achivements for skulls and legendary.

Yep, halo 3 allows so many ways to get maximum players via lan, internet and on the tv itself!

That has a lot to do with why I enjoy Halo's MP game. Many moments of utter lunacy occur in every game.

You're not allowed to post screenshots of Rat's Nest that don't include a vehicle getting knocked over the cliff edge.

Been there, done that. Sticking Warthogs to walls is the new hotness.

(Sadly, it didn't stay there.)

I can still recall moments of sheer lunacy and hilarity from Halo 1 and these are oft reminisced with my Halo playing friends. The great thing about Halo 3 is that we're going to be able to go back and watch all this stuff years down the line :-) "Saved film or it didn't happen!"

Anyhow, here's the other video from the guy who made the Spitfire vid. It has another Prodigy song as the music. I'm guessing it's his first video as it's not quite as good as that other one but still watchable none the less :)

Bah! I won't have access to my 360 for a couple more weeks. When I finally go back home, I'd like to start playing some games with you guys, whether its campaign, matchmaking, or forge testing.

Hah, yeah, I suppose that is also acceptable. That level is definitely my favorite right now, solely because of the sheer amount of awesome stuff like that that occurs during a game.

Only like two of us actually play. The rest of us just bitch about the ranking system, the maps, and melee. Oh and Forge. It sucks.

That applies to all of GAF, in regards to gaming as a whole.

Making a new foundry map: CTF style with Jails. You respawn over a teleporter which will have a 1/4 chance to teleport you into jail. Each team has their own jails, and to save your team mates you must drive a mongoose over to your jail and let your team mate get in (you can get in the mongoose and go through the wall)

It's pretty interesting can't wait to finish it up

Why the hell can't you join someone's custom game by random? You either have to be invited or search one of the players you met. I want to be able to search by a list and just pick whatever sounds interesting (ie "Jail Cells" or "Mongoose Racing", etc). I really hope Bungie is planning this with a future update.

Also, off topic, but does CoD4 have online co-op for its campaign? Last time I checked the answer was no, but....I didn't really check hard enough. :/

As far as we know, they're not. They believe that it'd reduce the population count for Matchmaking, which would decrease its functionality. Understandable.

I know that feature (Live Public) was planned, but cut. I must have missed when Bungie gave that explanation. I've seen it provided a few times - are we assuming that's the reason or did one of the Bungie guys actually explain it?

I recall that Luke said Bungie was looking into ways to better organize community content such as the Forge creations. I wonder how far that will go.

I love Halo 3, I really do, I just really wish there were a) more great maps for BTB-sized objective games and b) more great maps period. The DLC definitely helped in that regard, Rat's Nest is one of my favorite Halo maps EVER, but the majority of the map selection still pretty meh. And Ill never figure out how they managed to turn Zanzibar - the peak of Bungie's map making career - into a relatively boring map for Halo 3. I understand they didnt really change that much, but the cumulative total of those small changes has made it such that the action doesnt flow through the map as naturally or intensively as before.

I just hope they continue to pump out DLC though, maybe even do what the did for Halo 2 and remake a few of the better Halo 2 originals for Halo 3.

I can see it now, unranked forge matchmaking.

Yes, we're looking at ways to improve, overhaul, and in general work on making finding Community Content much easier and hopefully finding a way of bubbling quality community content to the top, via utilizing the Community. Any thoughts on how you'd (indefinite, broad, sweeping case of "you," here) like to see this implemented, please PM it to me and I'll add what I can to my notes for upcoming meetings.

Oh wow, really? PM incoming then. :D

Personally, I think the simplest solution is to just add a "User Created" option and just search by the titles users create for their custom games/maps, followed by a brief description of the type of game/map ("Players are in jail" "Map inspired by Super Mario Bros", etc). I don't think it will detract too much from ranked games, since people are big sticklers for experience points.

Also, any chance we can upload our saved videos on our PC, or better yet Youtube?

Thanks for the response - I actually forgot you had requested input on this before. I've got a few ideas, and will shoot you a bulleted list shortly. :D

Personally, I think a lot of the B.net stuff would work better for the community if it was actually implemented in the Halo 3 UI. Stuff like most popular community content, heatmaps and hyper-detailed stat breakdowns would be more prominent if it was right there in the UI as opposed to being on some site that most people will never visit.

So, I hit 1000/1000 on the friday after launch, played for a good 2 weeks straight, then got kind of burnt out with Halo and got swept up by the ridiculous fall lineup. I guess I'm gonna replay Legendary solo again, first time was so much fun. 90 minute Tsavo Highway for the win. You know that part you made an epic post about Ghaleon, with the 9000 or so brutes. SO EPIC.
