I'm really glad they put exactly what I liked best in Halo 2 into Halo 3:
More scarabs! It was so awesome boarding the scarab in Halo 2 and 3 just made it so much better. It was so much fun to take them out with a Hornet. The first one I managed to get away with my hornet and was blown back by the blast but I lived. The second one I ran out of time so I jumped off before it blew because I couldn't get in the hornet fast enough. :lol

Yeah, on one I landed my hornet busted it's head open and then flew off in the right time. What a great feeling! :D

This is in the credits:
wvrle cqzqp yylli faxfy promd

I tried to redeem it in the market place (looks like a code) but it is invalid. Any ideas? Or did I not transcribe it correctly?

The Spartan laser is the bane of my existence, such a cheap POS, my goodness.

Other than that the game is GOLD. Even though I'm a 'battlefield guy" and its an adjustment going one of the top players to a below average player(first time I EVER played Halo online mind you) I'm having a friggin blast. . I thought maybe after I HATED the COD4 beta BF had conditioned me not to like any other multiplayer FPS but, that theory has been totally debunked. Most fun I've had in a long time. Haven't really touched the campaign though, trying saving that for this weekend where I can really focus on it.

Hey guys, I'm wondering, to get the achievements on scoring, do you need to do it in Single Player? Because we did have always more than the achievements, but never did have an achievement.

Also, for the skull, if I find one in co-op, do everyone get the achievement?

You need to activate a few skulls and play on at least Heroic difficulty to get scoring achievements. Also, yes, everyone gets the achievement when one person picks up the skull.

Ok yeah, so I guess it doesn't count in co-op.

We were playing in Legendary.

WTF Bungie?!?!?! Everything was fucking perfect with the game and then you have to make the stupid fucking High Charity level. Fuck. I don't even feel like finishing the game now. Closed quarters with the flood...with a new shooting type that fucking cuts you in half from the other side of the map (and recoils into a protective shape when being shot). A bullshit psychic message from Cortana and Gravemind every 3 minutes. Jeezus. WTF were y'all thinking? Its like the library with 10x more flood, no room to move, no shotgun, no BR, and a Metroid Prime-ish platforming area to boot. FUCK!!! I feel like y'all just shit in my mouth and made me swallow it. Easily the worst level of any Halo game

(when you have to put big glowing arrows on the floor just so the player knows where to go, you have problems. I'm looking at your, Assault on the Control Room.) and as a whole, Halo 3 is better. It still doesn't hold a candle to the best the FPS genre has to offer though.

WHAT?
you sound like that famitsu reviewer that said that H1 needs a map

:lol

So. Just got to mission six. Some random thoughts before this flu knocks me to the floor.

*The Storm: Holy. Fucking. Shit. Is that a spoiler? Dunno. Best Halo mission ever, at least, so far. The Scarab fight lived up to the billing. I died a couple of times, then decided to go for the legs with a plasma cannon. It dropped and I was able to board. Being on top of that baby, when it rose back up and marched around, looking out over the Ark - one of the most amazing gaming moments ever for me.

*I think everyone who said the announcement trailer wasn't going to be done in the game, or topped for that matter, just got owned. Prison shower style.

*I'd predicted a while back that the Ark was a transport - I was kinda close. At least as seen so far, anyways.

*When that infected ship flew overhead, I said, out loud: "Oh shit, here they come." The way the Flood is introduced was excellent, with some time to build up the tension before it rains bastards like mad. Brute Flood, Hunter Flood(!!!!!!) - and then those other things. Anyone else jump when the giant crawlers come charging?

*Seeing a Marine succumb to a pack of Spores, and then mutate right on the spot - simply awesome. Not for him, of course.

*Mission five was very short, but pretty intense. The inside of the ship freaked me out a bit, with the pulsating pods, flesh (and bones) everywhere. And as soon as it was announced, I knew the flamethrower was going to be a Flood killing machine.

*The redone Under Cover of Night and Brothers in Arms were rousing.

I didn't want to stop playing tonight. Loving it so far - very challenging, lots of variety to the combat. The Storm had some epic battles I can't wait to play through again, differently. Great sense of scale to that level.

Also, Fuel Rod Cannon-toting Brute Chieftains are what Big Daddies wish they were.

Going to do a big update to the OP and crash.

We turned the gravity down low on high ground and used gravity hammers to find an invisible platform near the top of the map. :lol

Screens don't really do it justice since your legs are bent like you are in a perpetual jump but the vid will help you figure out how to do it. I don't know the settings since I wasn't the host.

Here you go.

It is the one titled High Ground GL.

I bet your individual score needs to be 10,000 or whatever the number is for you to get the achievement also.

Yay! just finished the game, a blast to play. kinda what I expected and I really like that you can use UNSC weapons throughout the whole game. really satisfied and the end is also great!

Are the terminals and hidden skulls still accessible when you play with campaign scoring on? I found one skull by accident (the thunderstorm one) playing on my first run through.

Also, how many replay files are stored in your "recent" list before old ones start getting deleted to make room for new ones?

I saved every replay from my normal run through so I can get some more screen shots. It seems like you could play this game for months before even getting involved with the multiplayer.

I don't think you need to activate any skulls if you're playing on legendary. Last night I did a first play through of the first level on legendary. I got roughly 10,700 points; however, I died 31 times. The deaths were mostly do to me not being careful with jackals. I think I could have easily hit 15,000 if I was more careful.

Am I the only person that liked the 8th mission?

I loved the art design of the place and you where given tons of ways of disposing of enemies, though those across the room guys where annoying hard to kill.

A+ all around bungie.

Finished on Heroic. 7/7 from me. :D

8th mission was a bit... ugh... but I did complete the game in one sitting so it may just be that fatigue had set in by then.

I hated those guys but otherwise I liked the map.

This is a slight spoiler for yourself, but a spoiler nonetheless:

Just wait until you have to fight 2 scarabs!

Beat the game, been playing tons of multiplayer, been watching old films with my buddies, haven't even gotten into forge yet. This game might be the most complete package ever. It might be the best game I've ever played. A ton of my friends who aren't usually into gaming have started asking if they should look into buying a 360, all because I've simply shown them the game.

Great job Bungie.

Was the eighth mission the one everyone says is beyond awful? I want to know what level everyone is talking about.

Fantastic game; awful, awful, awful level.

It's really weird, too. Every other level was just a blast, both to play and to look at. And then there's that level.. so out of place it's like another developer did it.

:lol Holy crap, that does sound worse than the Library. Well, at least I'm ready for it and it won't come as a shock.

I blasted through that area rather quickly myself and it seems quite shorter than
the Library. We're speaking about the eight mission right where you land on the beach? One of the more memorable levels in the game imho, probably the prettiest one alongside level 1 & 3.

I did not like that level.

are you guys sure this game does use dedicated servers? i have yet to experience lag. full green bar matches everytime, regardless the playlist.

btw, overshield is now worthless in this game.

Just wait for the level after this one. It will blow your mind. :D

So um... is Infection in Matchmaking or what? I REALLY want to try it out but I never get the chance to.

Also, anyone find out what that "surprise" was in Isolation?

This question got lost in the flood (LOL):

Has anyone figured out how to extract the concept artwork from the bonus disc of the Limited Edition?

Also -- is there any way to go back to a level (to look for skulls) without messing up the save? Will the game start with the latest save if I go back, or will it overwrite the progress to the level where the skull is?

Thanks!

So i'm having a rough time trying to add a guest locally to play on live with me.

Basically have one gold account and want to play with two people on one screen ( my gold account and him logged in as a guest he doesnt have a live account of his own ) is this at all possible with Halo 3 or does everyone need their own live account??

If it is possible could ya lay out what steps i need to take to do so, tried everything we could think of ( non ranked, etc.)
It was posted about two days ago, but it's the most recent one. Anybody answer his question? I was having the same problem earlier today. How do you get guests to join you in Matchmaking?

Barnolde said:
- Pistol = shit, shoulda kept it like H2
... Going to assume you meant Halo 1. Because Halo 2's M6C was garbage.

So do you have to beat it on legendary to get the after the credits ending thing? I am on heroic now and on the last level hoping I get to see all the ending this time around.

Yeah, I want to know if Infection is in MM or not, too.

Oh, and.. WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE FIREBOMB GRENADES ? Seriously, if they're not going to be in MM, then don't waste the HUD on a grenade that I can only use in CG.
