....

is bnet still having some isolated problems?

Big Team Battle needs to be more heavily weighted towards Multi-Flag CTF (on Valhalla).

There's way too much VIP and Slayer currently.

HOLY SHIT IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE ROCKET RACE VARIANT DO IT RIGHT NOW. SO. MUCH. FUN. :D :D :D

I haven't had so much fun with a videogame in a long, long time. I think I like it more than I like real Halo.

It's the EXACT sort of game type variant that shows off the flexibility Bungie has built into their system. Although it IS Halo (clearly), it doesn't FEEL like Halo. Some buddies and I originally were just going to test it out, and we ended up playing that one mode almost all evening - 10 straight rounds of Rocket Race.

I have a feeling this is going to be my go to "hang out and have fun with some buds" game mode for many, many months. I had a giant grin plastered on my face the whole time.

It works like this:
The point of the game is to ride around in pairs on mongooses, trying to get to each new hill before your opponents do, while trying to fuck them up as best you can with rockets. The rockets don't kill anyone - they just throw you off-course and toss you around like crazy :D :D :D

- Teams of two (we had FIVE teams of two). One is the VIP, and he can't drive vehicles. He can only can be a passenger.
- A "hill" spawns on the map, but to cap the hill and earn a point the VIP only has to pass through it for a split second. Then a new hill pops up. They're like checkpoints.
-So, you end up with one driver absolutely RACING around the map, and the VIP riding behind firing off rockets like mad, trying to defend your mongoose from all the other teams.
-Players are invincible. They can't be killed. Vehicles can't be blown up.

It gets SOOOO crazy. Playing on Sandtrap, it looks like a scene out of mad max. Three mongooses flying across the sand, shooting off rockets at one another. Also, since you can't be killed, you get to see some CRAAAAZY mongoose flips. Every single round has like 10+ saved film-worthy moments. I was playing on Valhalla and my partner and I literally got rocket juggled from one side of the map to the other.

Its just super slow because Bnet is getting hammered right now.

Im playing it on Heroic, its like i've never played a Halo game in my life as getting terroized by all the enemies. I used to be so good at Halo :(

But man, this is more like Halo than Halo 2, reaay good so far. Level 2 reminds me of level 1 from Halo (Pillar of Autumn escape)

The whole campaign is a lot like Halo 1 which is a fantastic thing. If you liked Level 2, the last one will make you cream yourself. :lol

Alright, I wasn't so sure I was gonna like Halo 3 too much, but man did it deliver. I'm not even that far and I've only played singleplayer ( I'm not so big on mp) but I'm loving it. I'm blown away by the graphics too and the levels so far are very varied.

I love Halo, sort of liked Halo 2, and was blown away by Halo 3.

The only thing I disliked about Halo 3, was that both the first and second level were very boring.

Wow. I can't believe I'm still awake. It's been years since I stayed up until 3:00 in the morning playing a videogame, but tonight MMarsu, robut, QVT and I did the last three levels on Legendary.

4 Player Co-op is all I need to make me happy about next gen. Busting through the final levels with three other guys, shouting and joking and goofing around while we hammered the Flood is more than I ever expected from Halo 3.

Great fucking job, Bungie.

wow. finally finished heroic.

in the credits i noticed that Team Ninja gets thanked, as do quite a list of people from Rare. Rare i could understand possibly lending a hand or two, but is the Team Ninja thing just kind of a 'greets' kinda thing? i also noticed Frankie's
HayGuysWhatsGoingOnInThisThread
.

the graphics throughout are amazing. even in doors. it's still got the halo look, but vastly upgraded.

the ending didn't explain very well what happened before the final set of scenes. specifically, the scene with Master Chief and the Arbiter taking off. i didn't realize until Hood said it, that he thought Chief was dead/gone. i must've missed his picture on the wall or something.

the last level wasn't as fun as it should've been for me. the driving bit felt a bit like the newer 3d sonic games in that you understand what you should be doing, but silly things are keeping you from getting from point A to point B. oh like having all the height differences so you can come over a bump and jump right into a pit. i must've tried this one section 10 times before i could finally see how to get from point A to point B.

the 8th level did suck. if they reduced the number of the mini-flood creatures vastly and reduced the number of scorpions, it might not have been so bad. but man is that level beautiful in parts.

Is there a delay between saving a screenshot and having it appear on my B.net page?

if you throw them on your file share, they should appear almost immediately. there seems to be a bit of a delay on the ones that just show up under hi-res pictures.

I've been a Halo multiplayer enthusiast since the first one, but the ability to save matches and later replay them while also being able to take screenshots and film clips is priceless. This alone warranted my purchase of an Xbox 360. I can already see myself spending equal or more time going through films of matches and playing around like this. Props to everyone at Bungie.

On a related note, how does one upload a high res screenshot? Is it any different than uploading a normal one? Is there even an option to take a high res screenshot?

Level 6 = MAGIC! Love it. Very pretty too. The encounters in Halo 3 are very very good, great flow. heroic, 15 deaths, 1h27minutes.
Only saw the opening cutscene of level 7, but it brings back memories :D.

So my source was correct about edge scores : )

haven't touched multiplayer yet, and i just made it to tsavo highway (heroic) i wouldnt' know how to comment on that.

Congratulations are in order for the 10 from Edge. So well deserved.
Does one have to pay for this kind of dick schlurping?

Finished the fight playing co-op with two friends on Heroic. Took us 7h 30m to complete and we were speeding through it as if our asses were on fire never stopping and enjoying the environments. I'm gonna replay it myself later on Legendary to get the skulls and enjoy the beautiful scenery in full 16:9. The gameplay was awesome, AWESOME TO THE MAX :D

Anyone wanna goof around in Forge? You can bring in as many people as you want -- the more the merrier. None of my buddies are on atm, and I'd like to Forge with a few people. If anyone has a Forge game already going, may I join?

Also, I finished the fight lastnight. I did it in one sitting on Heroic. It took 13 hours, for me. (I'm pretty thorough.) All I'll say is that it lived up to the hype. :)

I almost shed a tear at the Maw-like final chapter.

*Real spoiler, do not highlight if you haven't completed the game

Rare in the credits? Here's hoping they take some lead from Bungie for the next Perfect Dark game...

Or even better, have the next Perfect Dark cross-produced between the two now that Halo is presumably "on a break" until they start the next story arc.

fuckin' bungie. you guys have made me a fan once again. this is coming from a guy who bought an xbox for halo 1 and didn't like part 2.

After the first 2 levels I was like "OHHHHH shit, this is worse than Halo 2", which i was sort of disappointed by. After Level 3 or 4 I stopped finding things to complain about. This is as good an experience as Halo 1 was back in the day. Maybe better.

This is going to be a long, long, gushy post... I'll try my best to use spoiler tags when and where appropriate.

So I got the game yesterday morning before I left for work (yay for Parcel Force not being dicks), and had an agonising day at work. I got home, checked out the bonus discs looking for the AV calibration tool, fired it up and found out that my setup was perfectly fine (yay for Samsung game mode :3). Then on to the game...

I said wow. I said wow a lot.

I think I'm on the 5th level now (can't check at work) and every stage is packed full of "wow" moments. Playing it on Heroic was a great suggestion by the Bungie dudes, the encounters are huge, huge, huge, interesting, challenging (for me anyway), and totally different every time I respawned (which was a lot :lol ).

I dabbled in Multiplayer a while last night (omfg I suck so bad XD) and ultimately had a pretty good time all round, nobody was tossing spoilers about so it was all good.

So, the campaign, so many great moments.

I had a massive grin on my face every time Cap'n Mal, Jayne and Wash were talking, a great geeky touch.

The Arbiter in my ear was cool too, I tossed a grenade at a Phantom, stickying it and he said "Nice throw!", I lol'd.

The Scarab Encounter was -epic-, although I pussied out and went inside it to take it down, it was taking too long to shoot the legs.

The flood are actually fun to fight so far, who would have known.

I really miss Cortana :(

The story is cool, but I resented going in to the Flood ship, it looked like the anus fest of Prey :lol

Also, Terrence fucking Stamp! Kneel before Zod, bitches!

I absoloutely adore it.

Just beat the game on heroic. It was a great game but for whatever reason I feel a little disappointed? Anyway, there's way too much stuff in this game so I'm a little overwhelmed. I got a few questions:

1: How do you access the 'meta-game'

2. How many terminals are in the game and what do they say? I found on a bit later in the game and it was the first one I found and I was kind of like wtf? I didn't know there were more, but at the time I thought it was kind of weird.

Well Bungie you never disappoint by actually explaining what the heck happened.

According to the halo comic humanity aren't really forerunners we might be the successors but who knows since we dont actually know if there is still some surviving remnant of their race out there. Oh and guilty spark seems to be in a permanent state of delusion when it comes to this topic.

What was the point of the shield worlds since it seems theres more then one aside from the fact that the storyline from the novels isnt finished yet.

So why was there a gravemind on the delta halo if all of the flood was supposed to be wiped out and the 100,000 year war level just makes things even more convoluted.

That backmasked message in the mausoleum, we still only speculate on who that was oh and it seems that we haven't even managed to get a proper transcript of it yet.

Boren’s Syndrome which gave Sargent Johnson some immunity from the flood, which was retconed out at a later point in time, does it really have matter in any way or is it just mentioned randomly to mess with the fans?

With the future of the halo franchise in uncertainty it seems that everyone is looking back to the past namely to the even in "Contact Harvest" and halo wars which are approximately in the same time period.

SPOILER
Oh yeah and by the time they find the chief Cortana should be insane/corrupted broken down and way past the 7 year AI life expectancy unless theres more to Rampancy then just a random mention of it in the level name and Cortana reciting bits of her own letters

Congratulations Bungie, the fight is over and done with and yet still no clue as to what the hell happened.

Your name explains your post so well!

Wait... Edge Magazine gave Halo 3 a perfect 10??

That's somehow unprecedent. Can anybody please transcript a summary of their review? (Probably a scan if allowed?)

There's a whole thread for it and no it can't be scanned.

why is there massive borders if you try to play split screen?
its in 4:3 and not widescreen? you'd think the power of the 360 could cope with doing it widescreen. how lame. awesome game anyway
