It's working for me, but I'm getting some friggin awful buffering.

Omg, I was playing the COD4 Beta when all of a sudden weird artifacts appeared on screen, a sympton of RROD. HAHAHAHA.

Mind you, my 360 broke back in June, I fixed it and it has worked flawlessly, not a hitch or crash UNTIL TODAY, A FEW HOURS BEFORE HALO 3. Seriously, WTF :lol :lol

EDIT: If you wanna know, it seems to be in working order so far... *crosses fingers*

The Gamestop down the street just sold me a "pre-buy" copy (is this new a retail catch phrase) at 10:30 and I can pick it up in 45 mins. Kind off odd they even had any left to sell at this point, there are people tailgating and playing ultimate frisbee in the parking lot.

It's only a matter of time.

I know, as I said it had RROD previously but I fixed it myself. Not cool... in fact I hadn't bought a single 360 game until Halo 3 (since GRAW2) and now it comes up with this shit. Oh well, if it goes out I am sure I can fix it myself again =)

My launch 360 RR'd for the first time about 2 hours ago. After changing my underwear, I did the old towel trick. So, it works for now, and that's all that really matters at this point.

I wonder if the 7-11 down the street from me is selling it at midnight...
My local 7/11 is. I wasn't going to bother with the midnight launch thing, but the thought of buying Halo at a decrepit 7/11 in the middle of the night seems too surreal to pass up.

So guys, there was a rumor about Microsoft closing off a street in New York and driving tanks down it. Any news about that? I've been away for a few hours.

:lol

That's probably not awkward in the slightest.

(It's always like that for big media releases. Take a look at the Harry Potter events for example- tons of copies available at Walmart at midnight, yet everyone is down the street in BAM despite the fact the wait is longer. That's where the party's at, after all.)

I just got back from the launch event in Miami. It was pretty cool... got some free swag. Met some really cool people in the line. I didn't stay, though, because I pre-ordered at a Best Buy, which I will be picking up tomorrow.

If anyone's interested, I got a poster, lanyard, bracelet, and met two guys from Bungie. There was also a Master Chief dressed Circuit City employee, but he was too big for the costume, so it looked kinda bad.

I would love to see a pic of that.

Some impressions from E! Online...
....

A few hours into the single-player campaign, there's no escaping a looming "been there, done that" feeling. Which means it's a great game, just not that "new." The graphics may be hi-def, but detail-wise, the scenes and action very much resemble the first two games. ... So, those of you hoping for another next-gen experience (à la Bioshock or Gears of War), please lower your expectations.

But hold on, Halo 3 is mighty cool for one big reason...

...

We've heard that Halo 3 is the end of the franchise.

hmmm.

Darn, this thread is dead compared to earlier today. Guess the only way it's going to pick up is in an hour or so when the eastcoast gaf-fers start to get back and start posting 'I have it' threads. Guess it's time to go dark and get in line. Will read for a little bit, but after that probably the next time I'm here will be after I finish the campaign.

Is that Joe Staten and Tyson Green standing in front of the camera? (Staten in the white shirt on the right and Green in the boonie hat on the left)

I just beat the game.... man... I am stunned.

The whole game was completely AMAZING. The story didn't make much sense on first playthrough, because I was so focused on the gameplay at hand, but I am sure I will pick it up later. The gameplay was unbelievable from start to finish. There was one level where I do recall saying to myself that the pacing could have used some help, other than that it was balls to the wall from start to finish.

That ending sequence was just so unreal, jesus! The music, the action, SICK!

I think my favorite part of the game was that it focuses a good portion to vehicle combat. The
dogfights against ghosts, and using the hornets to mount the scarabs
was AWESOME. Those two moments were unbelievable for me.

I basically said "Wow!" and had a smile from ear to ear the whole time I was playing.

I really hope this is not the end of the series, I will be sorely disappointed. Please make sure to stick through the credits as the last cinematic was ridiculously touching.

I feel depressed now. :( It's over. :(

Yeah, I think so. They came to the back of the line (where I was) and talked to this old couple, and asked them if they play Halo. They said, yes, but I don't think they knew what was going on... and were just saying yes.

Also, there were cameras from gamesindustry.biz that interviewed me and the guys behind me in the line. In fact, the guy I was standing in front of was staff from High Impact Halo and got to interview a lot of people that were inside the Circuit City. Really nice guy actually.

There were some cool people in the line.

Leaving in 10 minutes. I hope there isn't a line, but I bet there is.

Ouch. So pity me.

My roomie is sick tonight and said he can't drive me to Best Buy.

And my ex-gf says she doesn't have her car tommorow (she shares it with her sister).

And I don't drive, nor do I know anyone else with a car well enough to drive all away across town.

Meaning, that in all probability, I'll only be able to get my copy on Wednesday.

I know, me too. The only thing is I don't know if the one right by my apartment is doing it. Are all 7/11's participating in this?

No, I went to one today and they didn't have it. It wouldn't hurt just to go check though..

Man, I'm really banking on there being a ton of copies in stores tomorrow 'cause there is no way in hell I'm going out tonight to stand in line with all the other crazies. One of the pathologists that I work with is headed out to some H3 event in Bellevue and asked if I'd like to tag along but...nah. There just better be some left over tomorrow.

At least I've got that fake Meg White sex tape to keep me occupied.
