Sadly it is. Current story arc is ended in Halo 3. I'm sure We will see game set in Halo universe but it's a long wait. And I don't think next game from Bungie will be in Halo universe.
 
sounds like 7-11's bombed with the idea of selling Halo at midnight(my local had zero-preorderd) but it sounds like they have some in store...walk in no line!

Fuck Best Buy. I go there tonight and the store isn't open, the gate is closed, and me and three other people are driving by and wondering wtf is going on. I preordered the game online for an in-store pickup there, so I have no other options. I'm going to have to wait until the morning now.

At least I got a decent story out of it. My friend was with me, and he also wanted the game but didn't preorder it, so we decided to see if the 7-11 had any. I go up to the guy at the counter, and we had this exchange:


Me: Do you guys have Halo 3?

7-11 Guy: What?

Me: Halo 3, the game.

7-11 Guy: Game? Like a playing card game?

Me: No, it's a videogame.

7-11 Guy: Does it look like we have any videogames?



So we didn't get a single copy of the game, and my night is even more ruined than it already was. I swear, if Best Buy sells my preordered copy of the game, I am going to burn down their store. This is the last item I ever buy from them. They advertised in the newspaper that the store would be open at 12:01am, and there isn't a single sign when I get there.

Firing it up right now...

I was 2nd in line (the wife waited four hours for me while I was at class) and first out with a Legendary Edition.

As I walked out a couple people started clapping, so I held the box up above my head and the entire line erupted in cheers. SO AWESOME... :D
 
Just got back from the Butler Plaza Gamestop in Gainesville. After being treated like a second class citizen (no stamped receipt that I was told I had to come get earlier), it only took about a half hour to get out of there.

Game disc was off its bracket and there are indeed a few scratches, but it seems to play fine. Pictures should be incoming if I can get them formatted properly.

I had originally decided to stay out of the Halo 3 fad for at least a month. But I just now listened to EGM Live where they talked extensively about Halo 3. The main thing that convinced me it's worth buying now was the thing about how extensively you could modify settings to make your own game types, and how Bungie will post top of the line game types made by the most creative individuals. I really regret not pre-ordering it, god damnit :(
 
So I just watched the new Halo 3 commercial that Gametrailers has up (its some old guy walking through some small part of a forest that represents Sierra 117), and I have to say, I am INCREDIBLY disappointed by this one. I loved the hell out of all of the other commercials that have aired or are available on the net, along with the two blomkampt pieces, but man, wtf.
