Alright, both sides of whatever is going on here should just move on to something else.

go.
My favourite Halo series encounter has to be the epic three way battle near the end of Two Betrayals against 3 Wraiths and a turret. There are so many ways to tackle the encounter and all of them are equally fun and epic.
I usually take the sniper and the rocket launcher and rain hell on the Covenant from the elevated position just outside the range of the Wraith's plasma mortar. This usually results in the death of all of the Elites and most of the Jackals in the initial batch of enemies. At least one Wraith usually bites the dust too either because I killed it with the Spnkr or because the Flood blasted it to hell.
If I have some rockets left they are sent on their way towards the Hunters emerging from behind the rocks. If everything went well I should have two sniper rounds left that make short work of the Gold Elite. About now I'm usually ambushed by two invisible Elites with plasma rifles which is awesome because I need to replace my sniper. Sometimes a stray plasma mortar kills them off halfway across the plateau and I have to expose myself to turret and mortar fire in order to pick up the plasma rifle.
After that I just rush in with the Ghost I parked on top of the hill and then I have some fun with the remainder of the Covenant troops.
I have all that shit memorized but the fun part is when something goes wrong and you have to adapt. Sometimes the RL Flood forms come for you, not for the Wraiths and you have to dodge rockets and plasma mortars in a mad dash to reach the Banshee and bail out.
The whole sequence leading up to that part after you leave the caverns and Under The Cover Of Night starts playing is the most breathtaking stuff I've ever experienced in a game (Best music moment right there). After having played Halo 2 and Halo 3 I have to say that there are now several levels (Quarantine Zone, The Ark, The Covenant) that challenge or even beat Two Betrayals as a whole but no other level ever come close to that encounter and the sequence leading up to it.
Two Betrayals isn't just AotCR in reverse and the rest of the level is top notch stuff too. The bridge runs are always fun on Legendary as are the vehicle encounters which are the best in the game. One of the aspects that makes Two Betrayals so special in comparison to most other popular Halo levels is that you are alone. There are no allies, no Sentinels or Marines that help you (AotCR is similar in that aspect only) and you feel isolated throughout the level. If you use your brain and guerilla tactics in the three way battles it's almost as if you had allies, the difference being that you kill off what's left after the battle is over
Take out key players in these battles, like mortar grunts, Gold Elites, vehicles or turrets and you change the outcome of the battle. You are left with a weakened foe and with a bit of luck only one enemy is left standing. It's a shame that the sequels never took that formula and improved on it. Quarantine Zone is the only level out of both sequels that features big three way battles, sometimes even way bigger than anything on Two Betrayals. So Bungie, whatever your're working on, INCLUDE THREE WAY BATTLES PLEASE.
How's that for an early morning post :lol (7am here)
