Top Gear Series 10 Episode 10 at the 4:05 mark has James May driving a Jaguar to the tune of Peril from the Halo 2 OST Vol. 1.

Peril in Top Gear

The video on that website is in a format that lets you skip right up to the four minute mark. The wife and I were watching this episode yesterday and the split second the Halo music started we both turned and looked at each other.

I was so proud of her because she recognized the music for what it was! She should recognize it, though, cuz four out of the six spots in my car's CD changer have Halo soundtracks in them.

It's cool to see the music used in a non-Halo world. Are there any other examples of Marty's tunes being used elsewhere?

I'm just wondering how these new achievements will affect the unlocking armour thing. Currently I have 48 of the 49 achievements unlocked, meaning that once I've got my last achievement (mongoose mowdown) I'll get the Marathon armour, which may I add I don't really care aboot.

Now I'm just wondering with these new achievements, will I have to unlock any achievement just to bypass the 1000 point mark, or will I have to unlcok ALL of the achievements or will it just remain that I'll have to unlock the original 49 achievements?

now if you excuse me diagnosis murder is on.

Probably, though I can never decide whether I like The Ark, Assault on the Control Room or The Silent Cartographer better.
Easily my top three.

Halo (from Halo: CE), The Covenant (Halo 3), Tsavo Highway (Halo 3) and The Truth and Reconciliation (Halo: CE) are also worth a mention.
I think the best Halo Level is the Covenant. I never forgotten this level. Is it like the first Level with Flood as Enemys. You dont forgot never this shit!

Just read Cocop's Hindsight article of "the Covenant" and this part really surprised me. It happens very near the end of the level. I will do spoilers just to be safe.

The conversation that follows is one that takes place between three parties. Not content to simply defeat his enemies, the Gravemind must take control of them, as he begins to do with Truth. The Arbiter speaks for himself; the Prophet of Truth attempts to maintain control of his own body and speak; and the Gravemind, gaining more control over Truth as he becomes infected, speaks through the Prophet’s body.

“Can you see, Arbiter? The moment of salvation is at hand!” (Truth)

“It will not last!” (Arbiter)

“Your kind never believed in the promise of the sacred rings.” (Truth)

“Lies for the weak! Beacons for the deluded!” (Gravemind)

“I will have my revenge - on a Prophet, not a plague!” (Arbiter)

“My feet tread the path - I shall become a god!” (Truth)

“You will be food - nothing more!” (Gravemind) [The Covenant, Halo 3]

Anyway, this is my second favorite cut scene in the game right behind the one between Floodgate and The Ark, but I always thought the Arbiter said those two lines about lies and food that are marked (Gravemind). I gonna have to watch this again and pay closer attention.

PS. Great job again Cocop! The whole Hindsight series has been a real treat. Keep it up!

I read the Article later. But Bungie make at this level a big mistake: This situation will be perfect for a little boss battle against the Gravemind. I hope i can fight with him as Master Chief! I waiting since the Halo 2 Release for this fight and i must wait longer. Only
my Death will stop this waiting!

Sorry for My English.

AR or BR and why?
Favorite moment of Marty's music?
Your all-time favorite encounter in any Halo game?

go.
BR, i just like the zoom. favorite halo weapon: halo 1 pistol.

music: puh, thats hard. everytime the halo theme kicks in (it was a bit overused in h3),under cover of night in halo 1, mombasa suite and in amber clad in halo 2, farthest outpost and wake me when.. in halo 3.

halo 1: encountering the flood for the first time and attack on the control room (everything)
halo 2: the first level with the mag gun/low gravity was awesome, the scarab fight and the first arbiter level
halo 3: scarab(s) and playing thru the whole game in 4p co-op on legendary in an epic 10 hour session.

Also, cocop's article makes me want to try that boarding-as-Hornet-passenger trick. I have played that level three or four times now and I have always just piloted the thing.

Clips of the Halo theme are often used in NFL broadcasts.

On which channel CBS or Fox? I'm an NFL and Halo junkie and have never heard any Halo music during an NFL game....probably because I'm too pissed off throwing crap since my Browns suck.

It is clear that he has completly lost his mind due to the fact that he has to ditch the flight.

If anyone took that bet, and offered something in return (if that person loses), fine. However, did anyone take that bet? If not, he's fine :D

Upon research, there was only one quote to his statement, and that was not an indication to his bet. This so-called bet is not completed, and will be considered void.

I think it's Fox... but now I can't remember. :(

I just tried this and it worked! I did it on Normal and took out both Scarabs. After I took out the core on the first one, I had to jump and reach to make it to the Hornet, but he was there waiting for me.

So how many people think that the mauler should be taken out of MM, i know its rare for people to talk about halo in here but what do ya think?

I like it as long as it spawns as the other power weapons do.

Sorry, but he specifically said he'd bet his Flight that SI wasn't set in the Haloverse and so far, things are looking like it is.

If it's not, he keeps his helmet, if it is, he takes it off. Seems like a solid bet to me. :P

Played a game with this guy yesterday: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/RankHistory.aspx?player=ebin fam

He quit on us right away. I gave him some bad rep hoping not to be matched with him again. Next game I'm on the same team with him again and he quit right at the mm screen.

Why should it be taken out? The mauler hasn't been a problem in Halo for months.

I don't think it should be taken out. IMO Halo 3 weapon balancing is pretty much perfect.

So I see KEEP IT CLEAN as a top story at Bungie.net and we've got TU2 coming tomorrow. I definitely see some Halo 3 and other Bungie fun in my future for this week:D

i hope they make the "keep it clean" announcement/reveal this week,on this sunday i wont be able to go online for the next two weeks

The Mauler is fine in small doses. More than a couple on a map is overkill (not that kind of overkill, mind you). Currently, Snowbound works great with the 3 Mauler spawns as does The Pit with 2. And they usually are accepted on more open maps where they're not useful 100% of the time.

Guardian had a huge Mauler problem at launch because there were 3 spawns. They spawned after 45 seconds and they were placed at the three main areas of the map. Being a corridor heavy map, its a not a terribly fun experience to run around the corner and get killed within 2 seconds. Constantly.

So the Mauler is a weapon that must be handled carefully and not placed all over a map.

That was a nightmare wasn't it. Good thing they squared that issue away.

The Pit has 4, actually. One in each flag base, and two in Command Center.

Not only that, but a Shotgun for each base as well.

... :lol

An agreement usually between two parties that the one who has made an incorrect prediction about an uncertain outcome will forfeit something stipulated to the other; a wager.

So where's the other party? :lol

I remember Construct being the worst for Mauler placement during the first few weeks of the game. They had a mauler at the top and bottom of each of the purple lifts. Essentially the first team to make it to the top of the map won, due to the tremendous amount of lift camping.

On the topic of Maulers in general, I think they have found a perfect balance on pretty much all the maps. I'd agree that in the beginning there was a problem with maps being too mauler heavy, but now I think they've hit the sweet spot.

Alas, it was rare for me to be in a position to enjoy the maulers - I think they were very good for US players but less so for us further afield. I could never decide if I liked them or not, either.

>_<

I did forget some of the Mauler spawns. But you guys are right and everything you said supports the point I made. They're placement can be detrimental to the flow of a map and some maps work better with a few while others benefit from no Maulers at all.

The Pit is a decent sized map, and isn't a problem with Maulers.

Like told above about Guardian and Super Johnson's remark about Construct, two maps built for small quarters fighting (especially Construct, aka Camp Lift) made it much worse.

I love the Mauler, in fact I haven't touched it in a long time, nor have I fought against anyone that used it much lately, so I can't look at it in a bad way in my case...

I can see why people would complain about it, but hell, it's a mini-shotgun, and it's called the Mauler, and you get hit with its blade when you melee - it does what it's supposed to do... very well I might add... :)

My friend and I conducted a test and IIRC, we concluded that the mauler does more "long range" damage than the shotgun. I thought it would be the other way around.

BTW, didn't there use to be maulers on Guardian?
