The head is the biggest change from the original. It's far more angled and Katoki-esque. They made the side beard spikes much smaller as well. I think it works mostly. It helps make the head feel a bit more proportionate given the slimmer lines of the MG in general and fits in with the way modern MGs look. I wouldn't have minded them going with the original head design, but I feel like the new one modernizes it in a good way while still evoking what made the original cool and unique.
Thanks for your thoughts on it.

I really am hoping it will.when me over when I get it to come in. I waited so I could.build the DX and Turn X at the same time, so I should be in for a real treat.

The MG Turn X is such a fun kit. Really unique and interesting build due to its odd design. I really liked seeing the ways Bandai had to engineer around all its weird asymmetrical design bits. One the most fun builds I've had in a MG.

it looks Amazing. Then again I love asymmetrical designs period. Turn X, Nu and Wing F are all great because of the asymmetrical and it makes them stand out from the majority of Gundam Designs.

Did you guys really want me to do the OT? I have about a 12 hour flight back home to the UK I'm on now and will take a bit to get back home from the airport. If we haven't reached the limit before I get back, I can post an OT with placeholders that I'll fill up with links for Gunpla tips, short synopses on series, etc later.

And yes, all your favorite Gundam gifs <3

Finally finished my G-Self...

I'm fine with you doing it.

That sounds cool. We'll leave the new OT to you then.

I would volunteer but it would just end up being two long, thorough posts about Haman and Lacus, with a third post blurb quickly summarizing anything and everything else Gundam.

Unless everyone is ok with that.

Go for it! I doubt this thread will hit limit before you're back in the UK anyway.

Forgive me for asking but what is it that you like about Gundam SEED Destiny? I'm genuinely curious because you are the only person i've seen make positive posts about SEED Destiny.

Shinn, Athrun, Sting, Auell, Dearka, Kira, many of the new Gundams, like Abyss and Impulse (with pack) are really great too. At least, 20 episodes in, its a great continuation of SEED.

The music and the Gundams, you mean.
Those too, I'm just an Athrun fanboy since I can't stand either Shinn or Kira on repeat viewings. Kira uses his infinite god mode and laser spam all the time and Shinn is well Shinn. Kamille without the character development or the beat downs to help him get to the character development. Emma Sheen would not have put up with Shinn's shit for too long before she went upside his head.

Jesus Yamato kicking ass, the amazing robot design, I don't think we need another reason.

Best thing about Seed anything is Athrun.

In SEED? Sure. In SEED Destiny? I think among the worst would be more appropriate.

The music and the Gundams, you mean.

This is true. One of the only things spared from the trainwreck that is SEED Destiny.

I'll admit it does start out alright, but what about the rest of the show? What did you like about the second half?

For some odd reason they decided to drop his IQ a good points too many, but he comes good...again in the end. He still winds up with the sanest girl of the show. My main beef with Kira is that you can never successfully argue with the guy ("Cagali is crying") and that he always has to tap into SEED hax mode win in Seed Destiny.

Anyone have MG Destiny Extreme Baaaaaarst mode? I see a re-release for it up for preorder so kind if tempted since I always found Destiny to be one of the cooler SEED suits.

That was my first ever MG. It's great. The wings of light look really good in person and I love the metallic finish on the hand parts. Some of the frame may have that as well, don't remember. The one thing I will say is you might need to glue together the clear bits that form the connectors for the wings of light. They tend to come apart and make the wings fall out.

I too have the MG, but I got to say Yami4ct's opinion and my own differ greatly here.

Overall the kit isn't bad and it has some nice gimmicks, buy the waste alone makes it a far cry from being great. Bandai tried and new hip lock mechanism and it is a failure in just about everyway as the lock just doesn't hold together for the most part.

Granted there are far worse MG's with stuff like the Zeta and Exia ankle problems, but still for the price Destiny just up to snuff.

I do love the metallic silver.inner frame.with the Blast Mode though.

Totally forgot about that. Luckily it's an airborne MS meant to be used with a stand, so it's easy just to throw it on there and not worry about it. I think just evaluating it based on how cool it looks, it's an easy kit for me to recommend.

I can agree with this. If you want it for looks alone th ed n it's good, but it needs the included base because the hip system.sorry if I came across aggressive. Despite my hatred of Destiny as a design I wanted to really love the MG 5
(Like I do with Turn A) so that hip lock was just so awful it left me bitter towards the kit.

That reminds me, I actually have quite a few Gunpla sitting on my desk that I need to build. I don't think I'll be able to tackle them until I'm done school, though.

Strike Rouge, best Gundam in seed imo.

However if it was Aegis or Aile Strike I say go Aegis

It's weird, though. Aegis, I feel, is a suit that will look good with my other MG GATX suits (duel and Buster) but at the same time, I think Aile Strike is the kinda suit you could put out on it's own as a centerpiece.

I guess I'm going to get both eventually, so I might as well flip a coin. Heads strike tails Aegis. *flips coin IRL*

Aegis it is. Will post progress.

Suddenly I'm very interested in building Gunpla again.

Once I get paid in 10 days from my new job I will probably treat myself to one kit...

I'm heavily leaning towards MG Aile Strike RM. May grab a HG as well, probably Wing or Build Burning lol.

Is it worth it to get MG Strike Freedom or RG Strike Freedom if both my MG Freedoms have awful wings? It was one of my favourite designs but I don't wanna waste money if I have to deal with wings like that again.

RG Freedom's wings are fragile but gorgeous. Fairly stable, too. Don't know about S Freedom, though, but it seems to be a universally loved kit.

But, I can't in good faith recommend RG to anyone.

If you get HG Strike, make sure you get the new one and not the remold (remaster) one. The new CE HG is the best 1/144 I have and it's not even close. It has a frame!

Minimal seals, long posable wings, a shield with separate yellow parts and not just a solid piece of red plastic, and a grey frame poking out exactly where it's supposed to as opposed to solid-white shoulders. HIGHLY recommended.

I have RG Freedom and an unbuilt RG RX-78-2. I lost my sprue cutter so I'm gonna go grab another one this week, but also lost my hobby knife lol. Probably going to build that this week (RX).

Does the HGCE Aile Strike have a Launcher Strike pack or is it compatible with the old HG? Launcher is my favourite pack...but apparently I have to spend $100-200 extra just to get an exclusive MG pack to get the launcher strike if I got the MG RM Aile Strike.

Finally took some time to clean up and snap together my HG Sinanju. Such an impressive kit. It's really big too.

Sorry for the poor photos. His waist is a little weak but hopefully that will tighten up when painted. The stickers were a pain in the ass to apply. I'm going to paint him eventually I went ahead and put them on for displaying.

I want to eventually get the MG but that won't be for awhile.

I just added the Sinanju MG to my shelf and it'd amazing. Possibly the single best design to ever come out of Gundam.

I also just paid for Wing Gundam Zero Honoo. Really hoping we get Build Shining so I can pose them together.

I think the Sinanju and the Kshatriya are the best mobile suits designed in a long time. I don't think anything compares to the intimidating presence those 2 have.

Sinanju is such a loved design, no other suit ever got as much praise.

Still, I wouldn't consider it among my top choices for a Mobile Suit. Unfortunatley a lot of my fav' suits don't have an MG and will probably never get one. When's Devil Gundam, Bandai?

Byarlant Custom was a mean motherfucker as well.

I loved that part. I'm not a huge fan of the suit itself, but the idea of this random unknown soldier wrecking face is awesome. It showed that there were legit great mobile suit pilots who weren't part of the main cast. That never really happens. Most of the time people are jobbers outside of named characters.

No suit ever really has. Gundam has had some super popular designs like Zeta, Rx-78-2, Wing Zero Ew, Strike and Exia but none of them have been able to get the near universal praise that Sinanju received.

Katoki truly knocked it out the park with Unicorn and the new creations for the story line.

Unicorn is nothing but mech porn with a good plot.
