Can you guys please stop bringing up lesbians and bring up that this game looks like some angsty teen girl bullshit based on a Young Adult novel for teen girls? The Last of Us 2: Hungry Games. Can't believe grown adults are excited for this shit.

What? do you feel the need to play as manly mans only? or grown ups only? do you need to be pandered with the avatar of the game?
Nah. It's just some dumb angsty teen girl bullshit that grown men are getting excited about. I shouldn't be surprised. Grown adults watch cartoons made for 5 year olds too these days.

Btw does anybody know when the next episode of Degrassi is on? I figured I'd ask here since you guys seem to be into that.

Seems you understand it pretty well already, there is something as making things too complicated, more is not always better.
And dude, i LOVE games like DMCV but at some point, the devs have to make a decision about how the game is played and priorities, you can't just throw everything and the kitchen sink and expect it to just work. You don't just aim every gun in DMCV, that would be "too complicated" and the gameplay would not flow as elegant as it does now.
IMHO combos would not add much here for example, they used to be in Uncharted 1 at some level too. The games is very focused in survival so utility is what the combat should be focused on and not "Style", contextual moves serve this purpose very well while having "Style" as a by product. As a player you are only tasked to worry about the "oportunity" When you see an enemy close to a wall you know the oportunity is there to bash his head against it. In Uncharted 4 when you see an enemy below you, you know you are going for the take down, etc.
I think it is a good compromise.
There is no overly "automated" mechanics, is just the melee combat having some compromises to make the whole package work fluently. I have no doubts that there are middle grounds to be achieved, but it's never just about adding everything to it. As thanos would say...
Has any game really nailed a good melee system that is also realistic? No magic or larger than life weapons. Maybe MGS5 arguably but that’s mainly there to make you feel badass rather than make for a competitive melee system

God of War isn’t realistic but it can feel pretty damn good when you go bare fist

I don't know what the show is, I don't see how you can call this "teen girl video game", Ellie is not even a teen at this point, and I am fairly sure "teen girls" will in general prefer candy crush over this (obviously I am generalizing, but you know what I mean)... either way, just don't play it if you are afraid you may like something you should not.
It's teen angst shit like Hunger Games and Harry Potter. I don't like it because I'm not a teenager anymore. I have 0 attraction to it.

Insecurity much?

I wouldn't claim being an adult if you get this worked up over Ellie and TLOU2.

Besides, maybe it's because I was already a dad when I played TLOU, but seeing Ellie in TLOU2 is kinda like watching a 'daughter' grown up and I'm excited to see how she's doing.

(Btw if I would have a daughter irl, I'd hope she'd be gay. Less things to worry about)

vs Joel

They are easily on the same playing field visually. Of course, the animation is/will be more nuanced in TLOU2... but remember one of these games is claimed as so visually realistic and amazing... and the other features bulky disproportionately sized marines....

It doesn't matter how good another game graphics are, no one will ever top ND faces and expressions imo

I guess it depends on what a person views as "overly complex" really. I agree with you that things like combos would be awful in TLoU but that's not what I'm calling for really.

I don't think a dedicated dodge function (which they seem to have added now), blocks, variation in attacks through user input, some kind of timing based risk-reward attack system etc.. would be overly complex or out of place in TLoU. Fact of the matter it's not classic survival horror akin to Resident Evil anyway, it's already got far too many systems for that. So why not go the extra mile and improve on those systems? They kinda already answered that question, they don't believe players want/enjoy/are capable of the additional "complexity". I think that's a shame and simply not true, stuff like Spiderman and GOW sold a buttload and they have these types of variations and I think in a superior game like TLoU they would work even better. But they've landed on a massively successful formula so I doubt they're going to change that now. But I hope they do.

I think A block and a dodge would be very good additions too and probably add a lot to the style of gameplay, at least we are getting the dodge. It is tricky to know where to expand and where to constraint, the mechanics in the first part were so well balanced that in MP they didn't have to axe much of it. Keep in mind tho that while some people enjoy the possibility of long inconvenient melee encounters in a game like this, other people despise it. I enjoy it tbh, i like the final boss of U4 for example.

Interested to hear the previews tomorrow. Game looks fucking brutal. If stabbing people in the face is "angsty teen shit" I'm all in. What a weird take anyway.

Wasn't ever a huge fan of the game and still haven't beat the first. Funny how that trailer is making me want to try and get back into it.

Now sure if I'll jump in at launch or just wait for the inevitable ps5 remaster.

So what do you care people excited about this game? Are gonna insult anyone who is gonna enjoy the game? If don't like this game I suggest you to move one and play the game you do enjoy.

God of War, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Uncharted 4... you were saying?

I hate ridiculous sjws too, but man the screeching about Ellie being gay in this forum is getting unbearable, since so far nothing about this game screams as if it will beat you over the head with sjw politics.

You are aware of who Neil Druckman is right?

Downloaded the trailer from gamersyde and for some reason the trailer Sony showed looked really blurry in the snow area, but this footage makes it look better.

So... why not look away from it and not engage in topics on it anymore?
While I disagree with his assessment, I also don't like circle jerk... so let him say what is on his mind, he has not insulted anyone who doesn't work at ND.

Ellie is not a teen in this game, but she looks angry.
EDIT: I found out she is 19 at the time of TLoU 2, still... I don't think you should brush such a large stroke.

I wonder if Joel showing up will be good or bad news, my preference would have been to keep playing as him.

It ain't Sony's fault - it's youtube's compression.
So gamersyde FTW as you said.

I love to speculate.

When I first saw this trailer, I thought Ellie was he one holding he gun, but it's Dina.

I think Ellie will be unconscious and that's when you will take control of Dina to find help, but that's when she gets captured.

I think you will play as at least 4 characters in this game.

Thought this scene looked a bit weird when I first saw it, but now I can see that this i from a first person perspective.

Which character you're controlling, you're hanging while you're looking at that man getting tortured.

In the first gameplay trailer, I thought Ellie was just able to just crawl under objects, but it's clear you can do it anytime you want. I don't know why I didn't notice that before.

The infected can now crawl on the ground and I wonder if it's like RE2 where you can shoot off certain body parts.

Can't wait until tomorrow morning to see more gamplay footage.

Well the trailer definitely seems to indicate that this game is about Ellie's evolution as a young woman so I think we'll most certainly have some Joel moments, but playing him isn't likely to figure as largely in the story as Ellie's role.

Is this video for real or is it a parody? It's literally just describing what we've seen in the trailers. The videos title about "leaked info" is an utter lie.

Have you heard about "click-bait"? That's what it is. People wanna make some dough, and you hafta increase your views/clicks for that to happen.
So? What you can do is creating "click-bait" videos.

What people are you talking about? This are videogames, those things you see on the screen are not real people being filmed, they are pixels created by some other people that wank over a certain identitary politics that you also wank to.

And yes, that's propaganda.

So no gay people in video games should be created? Is that where you are?

Also, friendly reminder to add gyroscopic aim to this game. I've been playing Days Gone since the update and man oh man it's it just fun to snipe with the controller. They just need to fix the sensitivity a bit more and it'll be perfect (but tbh I dont know if it's because I'm underleveled). I'm tired of playing shooters with aim assist.

What changed about Days Gone aim system? It's been a long time I played (just the first month). I've been wanting to play on the hardest mode for awhile.

You can use the already built in motion control sensor to aim your reticle now. It's only 1 of 2 games on PS4 that have finally utilized the feature. I turned aim assist all the way down and use the gyro to aim. Still use the sticks of course but sniping has never felt better.

I'm hoping since Bend and Naughty Dog are close (Bend did uncharted vita for them which also included gyro aim) they just give them the heads up.

One thing I will say though is I do wish the sensitivy was a bit stronger but it's still better than pure stick aiming.

edit: also I just got the game a few days ago and am playing on hard it's not so bad.
