Event summary provided by .Pennywise .Pennywise

Ugh, didn't know about this topic. That title...
It gets quite hard to follow the line. GAF needs to implement threadmarks.

Summary:
  • There's a woman called Kara Lynne that works at Limited Run Games as Community Manager.
  • There's a Twitter account by the nick "Purple Tinker (hates Elon)".
  • Kara Lynne tweets about how she's excited for the next game Hogwarts Legacy.
  • Purple Tinker identifies as a trans woman (a woman that was a man).
  • She (he, or whatever, see next bullet points) gets upset by this fact due to Rowling's "transphobia" controversy.
  • Purple Tinker starts digging hard into Kara Lynne's Twitter feed, as far as going into 7 years old tweets.
  • Purple Tinker finds tweets where Kara Lynne express her discomfort on predatory men using trans rights (like being able to go into women's bathroom posing as trans women) in order to harass women.
  • Purple Tinker also finds she follows a couple of "alt-right" associated accounts.
  • Purple Tinker calls her out on this and points towards her job position as CM of Limited Run Games.
  • Purple Tinker tweets about it and asks Limited Run Games to fire her.
  • Doesn't get too much attention until this is picked up by Resetera users.
  • A Resetera thread gets created on the topic and start a witch hunt.
  • Limited Run Games terminates Kara Lynne as their Community Manager and finally fires her.
  • Kara Lynne's husband gets upset by it and calls the company out.
  • Resetera users are not satisfied. Now they start another witch hunt asking to fire him (they start digging on him and find that he has worked on some key art for a game published by Limited Run Games but don't know if he actually works at LRG).
  • At this point the controversy erupted and is all over the place. So supporters of Kara Lynne start digging into Purple Tinker's history.
  • Finding Purple Tinker is a trans woman that is also a Brony and creator of "BronyCon".
  • Brony: adult people fans of the show My Little Ponny, into "Furry" cosplay and cartoon furry (zoophilic) porn.
  • This BronyCon is known for having multiple pedophiles among its community. Going as far as having tried to abduct an 11 years old child in one of this BronyCon events.
  • Upon further digging, it is found that Purple Tinker also harassed another Brony fan for 2 years straight, stalking, doxxing and threatening of murdering him.
  • Finally, it is found that Purple Tinker it is also a pedophilia defender and probably a pedophile her(him)self. Lots of "receipts" were found on the matter in old Tumblr.
  • Purple Tinker closes his Twitter account.
  • Resetera closes their witch-hunting thread, calling thread derailing. Refuses to elaborate further lasts events.
  • You are here.

And all because she posted a tweet that she was looking forward to Harry Potter. That was enough for the morons on Ree to investigate her Twitter past, find some 6 year old tweets that they deem problematic and the fact she follows some alt right folks apparantly.

Now she's being labeled a transphobe without any hesitation. First they all act like unions and workers rights are the most important thing in gaming, now their trying to get her fired because she works in an at will work state.

Its only a matter of time before Kotaku or some other cuck will write a hitpiece and LGR fires her.

Do community managers even get paid? Or it one of those volunteer kinds of roles?

Whomever the comm manager was fired, it's a blessing. Get a real job that pays good money and skip the social media dog and pony show.

I remember arguing with you about this topic. Now you see this bullshit infests everything in one way or another.

As a sidenote, I might even buy 2 copies just to piss these fuckers off.

I think it's fucked up to go digging for dirt of salary workers to get them fired over their political beliefs, but this isn't about Harry Potter and you're downplaying what they found. She is clearly a transphobe.

Now if she's not letting that influence her work, and she's not using LRG as a platform to amplify that viewpoint then there's no reason to involve her employer. She's not the head of the company, she probably makes like $60K a year. But let's at least be honest, she doesn't like trans people.

Someone told me somethimg about this. About a group of people bullying and harassing women out the industry. I think it was called the gamers who couldn’t slow down.

Times have changed and it's a normal job like having a PR Manager. Of course the person hired for the job should be skilled to work for the profit of the product or company it's representing... there have been examples of community managers antagonizing the community or injecting their own ideologies at every possible opportunity.

yeah looking even 30 seconds into this you find that she's following some really fucked up people on tiktok and is clearly a shitty person all together.

but that doesn't mean it should be legal to fire her for what she does privately

Jesus Christ that's horrible. I've heard and seen people say they don't want to support Hogwarts Legacy because of Rowling. Which, if that's how you feel, sure, whatever.

But don't shit on other people because they're interested in the game, and don't pay any attention to her, or her opinions, lol. I know plenty of people that love the Harry Potter universe but don't know or care about Rowling and any of the things she says. They just maintain that blissful ignorance. Regardless, I'll never understand the kneejerk radical takes. It's insane to me.

I was attempting to find pictures to share, but it seems she already locked and protected her Twitter. So, yeah, she must have gotten attacked. :\

You cant post this thread without linking the meltdown on twitter, come on OP
He can't, it would destroy his point. Somebody posted the Harry Potter comment as a joke with a "lol" after the explicitly transphobic one. He's being super dishonest about it the whole thing.

People like Matt Walsh and Chaya Raichik aren't just "right wing," their ENTIRE shtick is centered around "LGBT are perverts and we need to save the children from them" rhetoric. Like there's not really any ambiguity here.

Again, if she doesn't bring that to work, she shouldn't be fired, but don't lie and say she's being fired for liking Harry Potter.

This one?
Wtf, that first tweet wasn't controversial, is like 7 years old almost and then they just spammed tweets from people she follows?

That purpletinker needs a fucking good webbing.
Yep.

Nothing controversial in that.

Yeah, if it was just because they said cant wait for harry potter i would have to those losers at reee to fuck off, but looking at that post, yeah it seems like there is some genuine transphobia going on. Still cant say im a fan of the “witch hunts” going on ( no pun intended ), but despite that, she has some pretty shitty views. But hey, they have cancelled everyone else and now they are cancelling each other, like a snake eating their own tail, still, not gonna feel sorry for someone who is genuinely transphobic.

Mental illness lmao, it was one really old tweet from her and people that she follows?? I follow TONS of people I don't agree with, why would you close yourself up to different stances? I guess these people just want to live inside echo chambers.

Furthermore this person is not a "danger" to minorities, thats fucking wild. Sadly for her, this subset of outraged psychos probably make up for a big % of sales for a company like LRG

I mean it's factually wrong and profoundly dumb, and the sort of thing you could only believe if you're blackout drunk on anti-trans rhetoric, so yeah.
Nothing anti-trans about saying predator's will use the movements as blankets of protection to operate in. They have always done this in movements of protection, and have been caught doing this year in and year out since the bathroom lunacy transpired (no pun inteded).

To shut the conversation down completely, which people seem to want to do with the pathetic "bigotry labels" with appeals to emotion of false ideological virtue, is a HUGE miscarriage and disservice to the victims. Most being women and children.

Yeah, it's not because she's "looking forward to Harry Potter" at all. I mean, I'm sure that's what started it, but then people dug.

Regardless, I too, have never been a fan of people digging into people's social media to look for something to fire them over. There's a silly comment, and she follows some lame accounts. I don't think it's worth getting up in arms over. But we also do live in a time where someone could have a personal opinion about something that has no ill intent, then someone can twist it into something radically hostile.

Hard to Kill
I don’t understand any of this, Harry Potter is awesome, just started reading it for my 10yo daughter, she’s loving it so much, I wish I started with the books too but sadly I went with the movies first (which I love too though)
Believe me, that's the correct order, the books would've ruin the movies (they did to me).

It is so unfair for fire someone because of his off-work beliefs.
actually - ILLEGAL. in Poland at the very least
Based Poland
she lives in the dystopia that is the USA tho, so worker protection isn't something she can rely on.
It used to be a thing here in the US, where employers would say they couldn't do anything, no care about out of work instances that did not impact the job. Unwritten rule, but a cultural one. Then HRs (one of the OG breeding grounds for this) and lunacies of SM happened.

I will buy an extra copy of the game to give away on GAF. Just to spite these reprobates.
Yeah, honestly, I'm going to preorder now because of all this dumb stuff, lol.

People have the right to like, follow or block whoever they want. This is irrelevant to their job.

Only a shit company would fire someone for this.
Right?! That's the thing that trips me out the most about it all nowadays. You can literally remove anyone and anything you don't want to see on your platform of choice. If you can't stand what you see but want to stay on the platform, just remove it. That's it. From people to words, etc. It's so easy now.
