STALKER 2 has high hardware requirements on PC - Needs 150GB of storage | OC3D News (overclock3d.net)

STALKER 2 is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S on April 28th 2022, and as a next-gen exclusive, the game will require high-end hardware to run well on Windows 10. On Steam, GSC Game World has revealed STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl's PC system requirements, confirming that the game has a colossal 150GB storage requirement and that Nvidia's GTX 1080 Ti is the game's recommended graphics card.

On Steam, GSC Game World has revealed STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl's PC system requirements, confirming that the game has a colossal 150GB storage requirement and that Nvidia's GTX 1080 Ti is the game's recommended graphics card.

CPU-wise, STALKER 2 will require a processor like AMD's Ryzen 5 1600X or Intel's i7-7600K to run smoothly, with GSC Game World recommending newer 8-core CPU models like AMD's Ryzen 7 3700X and Intel's i7-9700K. STALKER 2's CPU requirements are one of the primary reasons STALKER 2 is a next-generation exclusive on consoles. While STALKER 2 will support hardware-accelerated ray tracing, the game will not require support for DirectX Ray Tracing. This means that STALKER 2 will be playable with older Non-RTX Nvidia GPUs and pre-RX 6000 series Radeon graphics cards.

GPU-wise, STALKER 2 will be playable on AMD's RX 580 and Nvidia's GTX 1060, though GSC Game World has recommended much newer graphics card models like Nvidia's GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2070 and AMD's RX 5700 XT. STALKER 2 promised "Benchmark-setting graphics", and based on the trailer above, PC gamers will want to play STALKER 2 with its highest graphical settings.

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 10
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X / Intel Core i5-7600K
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Storage: 150 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

OS: Windows 10
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i7-9700K
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
Storage: 150 GB available space

This whole requirements makes no sense

"GPU-wise, STALKER 2 will be playable on AMD's RX 580 and Nvidia's GTX 1060"

So basically low system requirements aren't the low system requirements rofl.

Also what farmerate and resolution.

Kraken would have smashed that 150gb to the ground but they decided that being Xbox exclusive was a better deal. Good luck.

If we're talking PC getting something like 1080p 30fps would be pretty bad, but would probably be considered "playable."

high quality GIF

Control Minimum Requirements
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 / AMD FX 4350.
  • RAM: 8 GB.
  • HDD: 43 GB of storage space.
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 280X.
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10.
  • DirectX: Version 11.
  • Screen Resolution: 720p or better.
  • Network: Broadband Internet Connection.

Minimums are supposed to be the absolute minimum that makes the game playable. could be even as low as 720p at 30 fps.

Demanding game at the cutting edge of today's visual standards has significant system requirements? Stop the presses.

Also, both minimum and "recommended" requirements for games have been vague and unreliable bullshit for years at this point.
Not sure what we are even discussing about.

Gamers: "We want more detailed, gigantic, 4k ready games!"
Developers: "OK! Will Do!"
Gamers: "WTF why is it 150GB?"
I really don't think the people who played the Stalker games and were excited when this was announced really shouted for a "gigantic, 4k-ready" Stalker game.
More detailed, sure. But the atmosphere and systemic design seemed to be the main hope

Almost every thread/video I saw regarding this game was filled with careful anticipation.
People have seen too many games lose their *insert charm/soul/character/uniqueness substitute here* in the pursuit of a bigger and more flashy new entry.

Jup because more flashy the more limited on scope the game gets.

Is that what it actually occupies on the drive? Because many games will list some requirement for space, but not actually use that much.
I mean according to steam, HZD requires 100GB of space, but it really only uses 68GB.

4 cores 4 threads as the minimum?

it is known that 1600 wrecks 7600k in 6 core scaling titles, i don't see how they're seen as equals

if it was 8400/1600 i would understand

most games these days work optimal with 6 core/6 thread or 4 core/8 thread cpus

Its probably single core performance they are looking for, 7600k and 1600 have the same performance here, 8400 is faster

I hope something can be done for games in terms of making them smaller, maybe compressed techniques. This will be a problem in the future if it cant be solved.

Game Pass and Comcast data caps are in a constant conflict with one another in my household.

well this is also wrong, 7600k can actually has a bit faster single core performance than 8400

7600k and 8400 are practically the same architecture, with completely same ipc and no architectural differences between them, 7600k allcore clock boost is usually 4-4.1 ghz while 8400 allcore clock boost is 3.8 ghz (to satiate power consumption, intel underclocked this one a bit). with completely same ipc, 7600k will out pace both the 1600 and 8400 in most of the games where single core is concerned

The only ones crying about install size are console gamers with their neutered storage space.

Forgot to add probably faster.

But again they probably picked it because of single core perfomrance and they only cared for 4 cores here. The recommend is probably 8 cores they care for. Threads they don't care much for it seems like otherwise they wouldn't have gone for 9700k to start with but a 9900k. Howver the 3700x single core performance is probably the focus here and 8 core requirement which the only solution is 9700k at that point from intel as they simple didn't shift 8 cores gens before it.

All with all pretty steep requirement tho, for stalker. Will see how the game really holds up when it launches.

I'm glad it has high requirements. Time to start leaving some of these gamers with old rigs behind.

Still trucking at 1080p with a HDD. I think I'll probably be ok. I'll probably wait and see what the optimization is like. Because the first one was kinda

What are the requirements when you turn ray tracing off and play at 1080p?
