id Software has finally released the playable demo for Quake 4, allowing you to try out the recent sci-fi first-person shooter sequel by Raven Software. This demo includes a single-player mission from the start of the game "where you, as Matthew Kane, battle with Rhino Squad to clear a landing zone for the main earth forces", along with the multiplayer maps "The Fragging Yard" and "The Fragging Yard 1v1".

Yep, but they never released a demo for it like the previous games. Probably why it bombed and there are so few people playing it online (according to Gamespy stats.)

Word from Activision is that they plan on making another release next week that will include a working multiplayer component.

I think it was pretty fun, more so than DooM3.

I would probably have gotten it if it had solid FPS on X360… My PC isn't really up to speed and I don't plant to upgrade for a while.

What do you mean? There's an internet server browser in the demo. Is it broken? If it is.. that would explain why I'm having trouble connecting to servers...

A hell of a lot better than I had expected it to be; heavy industrial and down right evil tone, and straight forward, fast paced FPS action. I guess the collective gaming press once again got hung up on lack of innovation.

Hey this aint as bad as I was expecting, in fact it's quite decent. More Quake than Doom than I expected too.

Wouldn't buy it though...
